    I just recently had the same code. Here’s what I did in order: changed valve cover and gasket (had lots of oil in spark plug wells), didn’t help. Changed cracked intake hose, no change. Inspected/cleaned MAF sensor (saw a video with a mosquito stuck in there causing same code). Changed the cam sensor, got the idea from this video. No change. I kinda had the same thing happen to me, the code changed from p0300 to p0303 (did the coil switch to see if code followed coil and nope) , it was the fuel injector for cyl 3 for me.

    Richard thanks for the very understandable videos!
    My wife drives a 2016 Nissan Rogue. It has very few miles on it - 4,400. All the sudden she took it out the other day and she said it was shaking. When I took it for a ride it was misfiring badly and I got codes P0301 P0300 P0219a.
    Since the P0301 is cylinder 1 misfire I first swapped the coils of 1 & 2 cylinders. Same P0301 and bad misfire. Then I swapped 1 & 2 plugs and the misfire code went to cylinder 2. Thought I solved it with a plug replacement but day later got rough idle and check engine light again but now P0303 P0300. So, I change all the plugs. Still rough idle and check engine light with P0300 code.
    Looking closer at the removed plugs they showed some carbon and fuel progressed up the threads - this was on all cylinders.
    Messing with my code scanner I found a monitoring function that shows how many detected misfires in each cylinder. Letting the car idle cylinders 1 & 2 show zero but cylinders 3 & 4 have progressively growing number of misfires. Just to do something I swapped the 1 & 3 coils and the 2 & 4 coils but no change.
    The car is running much better than when it had the first problem but still rough at idle and misfires sometimes at low loads. Seems better under load.
    Any suggestions on what to try next welcome.
    Thanks - Mike

      Sorry I took so long to reply Mike. Your engine is equipped with 4 variable valve timing solenoids, these solenoids are operated using the oil pressure. If you are low on oil or have dirty oil it can affect engine performance. I had a friend who brought his car in to a dealer. It cost $900 to have all 4 replaced. Other sensors you can look at are the crank and cam sensors. these sensors can most certainly cause the issues you describe. Most dealers have nominal fee to diagnose a problem. I would take it in, let them diagnose it, then decide if it is something you want to tackle yourself. Keep in touch.

    My 2014 Nissan Rogue has very rough idling and sometimes stalls when coming to a stop, with codes P0014 and P0300. I’ve seen various opinions and fixes on TH-cam, where some people say it’s the Camshaft Sensor, others say it’s the VVT sensor or the other 2 Sensors lined up beside the VVT, the same part as the VVT. Others still, duty oil. The Rogue has 2 Camshaft sensors right at the top, easy access. So, I changed oil and filter, removed the 2 sensors(identical part) and since they look ok, just swapped positions and reinstalled same. Still misfiring. Before I order parts, how do I ensure that it is the Camshaft sensor? Nissan dealer tells me that these sensors are not covered under the 6 yrs/130,000Km warranty.
    Help, please!

    • @richardspaulding5035
      @richardspaulding5035  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Assuming the oil is full and has the correct viscosity. it could be the camshaft timing solenoid or the timing actuator itself. if the car has more than 100,000 miles it could be a worn timing chain. I don't think swapping the sensors was any help, if one was bad you still have the same condition. If it was the po300 by itself I would look at the crankshaft sensor, but with the po14 included it appears to be a a valve timing problem. None of these parts and or sensors are cheap. You might spend a lot of money chasing this one . As back yard guys we can save ourselves money. However there are times when we must bite the bullet take it in to the dealer. Good luck let me know how you make out

    Thank you for your complete video. 2009 Nissan Murano had a radiator leak and overheated on the road, and engine stopped. After replacing the radiator, now, the engine vibrates and has P0300 code. After some more driving it went to limp mode, but it doesn't overheat. So, I am hoping it is not a blown head gasket. Spark plugs were replaced recently. Do you have any suggestions? I am guessing the intake gasket could have melted and cause a vacuum leak? Can overheating damage the camshaft sensor?

    • @richardspaulding5035
      @richardspaulding5035  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is difficult to diagnose a problem from afar. being that these cars have aluminum heads and with the car overheating a blown head is on the table. However, I would think with the car going into limp mode, other codes would be present. Have you rechecked it with a scan tool? Most repair shops and dealers have a nominal fee for diagnosing a problem, usually about $100 or so. You can then make a decision if you want to attempt the repair yourself. keep in touch.

      @@richardspaulding5035 Thank you for your reply and the ideas you shared. So, to report back, originally only code P0300 was present, then fortunately P0304 showed up as a pending code (waiting and scanning again was a great idea). Coil #4 was slightly melted and deformed. After replacing that coil, vibration got better, but not perfect. Then code P0303 showed up. Again coil #3 was melted and I replaced it. Intake plenum gasket was not melted. Hopefully this will take care of it unless more parts were damage in the overheat.

    I've messed with these stupid engines for a while now since my sisters car had one to begin with they can have all kinds of issues internally like burnt valves or bad lobes on the cam and low compression on top of the list you have here but one thing I've noticed about these engines is they love to blow head gaskets and you don't really get codes just slowly start having very random hard start ups and they tend to consume the water instead of fully over heating I've had 2 engines of these do that start misfiring throw misfire codes before the head gasket goes and both about the 160-170k mille mark so something to look out for for those who are beyond baffled with misfire codes on these

The car ran fine for a bit, it would idle fine then start to misfire after about 15 minutes, and at stop lights ect.. Then the IAC low voltage sign popped up I did the same cleaned out the MAF sensor and checked for any leaks around the intake. I will try switching out the camshaft sensor, thanks for the tip. I was planning on changing the crank sensor but ill try the cam sensor first see how that goes.

    came across this in google
    my 2002 altima is throwin p0300, as well as p0031 and p0037 (low voltage on both th o2 sensor heating coils). and p1148, caused by the above.
    replaced O2 fuse and the pending codes went away, but they are still being thrown after a clear and rescan.
    im replacing the VC as it was already known to have a leak,
    occasionally i get hard starts, have to crank for almost a minute and pump gas pedal turns over runs high rpm then settles down and its fine for a while.
    after VC, looking into battery and grounds.
    But might look into the Cam sensor, as things like switching to high beams dim radio backlight and you can hear rpm flucuate.
    also need to test my fuel pressure, as the hard starts started after getting gas.

      @@richardspaulding5035 well I fixed P1148,
      Some one took the fuse out, but it didnt fix P0300, 0031 or 0037, So I'll have to check wire harness for shorts with multi meter before I drop 200 on those sensors. I did notice on realtime data that it switches between closed and open loop depending on accell/decell/load, so thats a good sign, both sensors voltage varies depending on load as well, so the sensors work, but the heating curcuit might be fubar
      Im going to replace valve cover as the gasket is leakin on the cover and the spark plug tubes, so likely causing the P0300. but It needs done regardless, as its leaking oil and pressure.
      havent had a hard start since puting the 02 Sensor fuse in either. (fingers crossed).
      so either the fuse was keeping the 02 Loop open, or the double shot of fuel system cleaner finally did a job on the pump/filter. as the hard starts started after filling up when tanker was there.

    I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 L, also throwing this code P0300. The camshaft sensor went out on it last month and I replaced, so that's not my problem. I already replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils, but hasn't fixed. Took it to a mechanic who I trust and he couldn't figure out what the issue is. He smoke tested the intake system and found no leaks in the intake. He performed a leak down test and there were no leaks into the radiator, intake valve or exhaust valve. He said the mass air flow sensor reading is too hight (but doesn't think that is the problem). How do you test the fuel pressure on the fuel pump?

    • @richardspaulding5035
      @richardspaulding5035  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no port provided on these cars in the engine compartment for checking fuel pressure. To check fuel pressure, you must do it at the pump itself. The pump is located under the rear seat. Check out this video link to access the pump. th-cam.com/video/d-jPLHGABmI/w-d-xo.html. If that was an aftermarket crank sensor it may still be the problem. A Nisson dealer told me that some aftermarket sensors don't work well in Nissans. I replaced a crank sensor in a rouge that I purchased at Nappa for about 50 dollars. The car still ran like crap, so I gave up and took it to Nissan. They installed one of their OEM sensors and I had no more issues.

      Thanks for the question Brandon; I in my case I had pretty much had given up on trying to diagnose the problem myself. I had made the decision to take it to my local Nissan dealership. As do it yourself mechanics when you consider all the money we save over time it’s really not so bad when we must bite the bullet and take the car the dealership. As I stated above, I had made the decision and had actually made an appointment with my local Nissan dealership. However, before I could get the car to the dealer it broke down on the side of the road. After the car broke down it finally gave the code for the camshaft sensor. I replaced it on the side of the road in about 10 minutes as the car has been fine ever since. I believe in your case it will be the same situation, the computer will not give you the camshaft code until it fails completely. As far as the cost the OEM sensor at your local dealer will cost about $185. At a place like Napa or AutoZone it’ll be about $60.00. On eBay you can get one for about $11.00 but these parts a largely defective. The cheap sensors on eBay will fail in short order if they will even start the car at all. You could take it to the dealer and have them diagnosing it only. Then you could make the decision whether you want to replace the parts yourself or not. Most dealers have a diagnostic fee of around $100 give or take. Good luck let me know how you make out thanks for watching my channel.

Another thing to look at is the possibility of an oil leak, sometimes oil will contaminate the flywheel and cause a similar situation. When I do a clutch job, I will replace or resurface the flywheel anyway. Perhaps you can find a local repair shop that will do the job much cheaper. I think 3000 dollars is a lot for that. You however have the P0303 which limits the problem to a specific cylinder, I believe cylinder number 3. It still could be caused by any number of reasons, but I would start out looking at the spark plug. If that looks ok, try swapping the number 3 coil with say the number 1 coil and see if the code changes. Beyond that there could be an issue with fuel, vacuum or compression. Good luck

    I have a Nissan Altima 2015 SV my codes are P0300 and P0014 can I get ur perspective on this? 74k miles on it. Just started today. Someone said it could be “fuel pump” replacement PLEASE HELP THANK YOU FOR UR VIDEO

      Your car is equipped with 3 valve timing solenoids. One of them could be sticking. this would cause your car to run very rough at times and other times seem to be perfectly fine. They have been known among other things to throw those codes. You could spend a lot of money chasing this issue down. It might be worth taking to a Nissan dealer and paying the diagnostic fee. It is usually less than $200. Then you have the option of having them fix it or thanking them and fixing it yourself. What ever they come up with I am sure you can find a video on how to replace the part . please let me know the outcome. Thanks for watching my channel.

      I get a lot of requests like this: My car is doing such and such, what do you think it is? It is difficult to diagnose a problem from afar. There could be any number of items that could cause what you described. I don't want to speculate and send you on a fishing expedition. I know most of you guys would rather give up your right arm before considering taking the car in to a dealer. Think of it this way as a do-it-yourself guy you save thousands of dollars over the years. Once in a great while (considering all the money you have saved) if you must bring it in to your local dealership it doesn't seem so bad. Wish I could be of more help.

    • @richardspaulding5035
      @richardspaulding5035  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not test this sensor because I knew it was bad, The input should be at least 5 volts up to 12.6 volts depending on the make of your car . The output of the sensor should be about 1.5 volts. I hope this answers your question.

      Charles; One thing that comes to mind is a plugged exhaust system possibly the catalytic convertor or the muffler. Have someone stand behind the car with it running. When you shut the car off he or she may hear a long hissing noise like air escaping. If so you may have too much back pressure in the exhaust system. let me know thanks for your question

      Replaced VVT solenoid actuators. Runs better BUT STILL no power above 40mph. MUST be the catalytic converters?

I tried to start it up, but it didn't go right away, then I realized the spark plugs were outside all night, got damp,so I ran the battery down a bit before I realized about the plugs. I dried them off with a lighter, put oil in each cylinder, and it started right away. after letting it idle to fill the lifters I checked for codes and had the p0300. it had to be the low battery. after a 15 minute drive I cleared the code and it didn't return.

      @richardspaulding5035  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question, Ty Albert; I apologize as I just reviewed the video and I never mentioned the actual code. It was P0340 for the cam sensor. Keep in mind in this case evidently the sensor was on its way out and was presenting an intermittent problem. The car would hesitate at stop signs and in stop and go traffic however it never gave the P0340 until it failed completely leaving me stranded. Thanks for watching my channel and again I apologize for not giving the code in the video.

Close to the end of this ordeal, a mechanic that I was working with advised me to order theain controller or module. Main brain for this vehicle. This didn't solved the problem. At the end ,I took it to another mechanic, who started where we last stooped. He found the problem.probl was at wire harness coming from the car computer to the fuel injectors. Wires were had been loosened and were touching the steering column, causing a cylinder or two to overflow with fuel ...big problem finally solved.
