    For any one, I had a misfire that i couldn’t find for about 6 months. Replaced all ignition coils and wires, spark plugs, air filter with maf sensor even map sensor, pcv valve and checked for vacuum leaks. I finally found that it was my intake manifold gasket that was leaking, so I just recommend don’t go into blindly replacing everything spending so much money and keep doing tests to be sure what’s needing replacement

    Got the same code on my 04 expedition. Mine was an easy fix. Start the engine. Pump the breaks 6 times. Turn the head lights on. Power down both rear windows. Put seat belt on. Turn radio on and off 3 times. Pump breaks 6 more times. It worked. Runs great now. LOL. Have fun.

    Have a 2005 impala 3800.. was miss firing no code. So I started pulling 1 plug wire from the ignition coil. Module 2/5 was not arcing/sending spark. Change coil pack. Still not spark. Changed out Ignition module was BAD. Issue solve.

    Nice info here. With my buick 3.8 it would run fine until about 20 minutes into my dtive to work, the same driving home first 20 minutes was fine then it would start missfireing an show a P0300. I used a chesp 10 dollar spark tester an a spare plug wire i hsd in trunk to check each coil, with the spark tester adjusted to 1.5 inches top an bottom coil sparked, but center coil would not until i screwed in the tester adjuster to 1 inch, an this was with a cold engine. I moved the coils around an had same issue with middle position coil, others were fine. Bought a new ICM an issue fixed. Think the old one was heating up after 20 minutes and the already weak center position would just stop producing a spark.

    Thanks! This happened on my Montana van last year, it's a 99 and STILL has most of the original parts, including the coil packs, which is what it was that needed changing. This code came up again today leaving for work, gonna test it tomorrow, but prob one of the other coil packs.
    Thanks for the simple solution to this code. I'll let you know the results.

      @@AntonioEscobar863 try swapping your coils around to see if the misfire moves. I had a bad coil that would work fine and then mess up and then go back to be good again. I finally just got fed up and took mine to a dealership and paid the 100 dollars for them to tell me it was a bad coil. Left there and bought a new coil and installed it. Been working great every since.

      @@bbay1977 I replaced all the ignition coils, spark plugs, egr valve, o2 sensors and the fuel pump. tomorrow I’m replacing the intake manifold gasket. I did a carb cleaner vacuum test and the idle changed when I sprayed around that area. Hoping that’s the culprit. She sounds like a brand new car , but she’s still got a misfire and I’m praying that is it. I’ve also replaced a few hoses that looked corroded.

    • @bbay1977
      @bbay1977 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AntonioEscobar863 Yeah with the idle changing I would say that is probably going to be the issue. Just as long as the spray didn't hit any other cracked hose you might have missed. Good luck with it. This is my last car that I have that is fuel injection. I'm going back to carbs and no computers soon. Mine only has 87k miles on it but I think I'm done with all the computers and all. It was a mess trying to figure out the misfire on mine and then I still had to pay someone to tell me what the problem was.

    • @AntonioEscobar863
      @AntonioEscobar863 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bbay1977 I did that gasket replacement, and I fixed the misfire. Did not realize the level of difficulty for that task I signed up for, but I did it and a little extra. Intake had a pretty serious build up of carbon in it so I cleaned her up and replaced a couple hoses, but none of that was the culprit. I had my timing belt replaced by my mechanic about 2 months ago, there’s a censor right to the outside of the cover that’s messing a bolt that he didn’t put back but also had the clip to snap the sensor back broken. Turns out that was a big culprit in the misfires. Plug her up, taped her down and now she’s running great. Thinking I’m definitely doing all my own work from now on. Didn’t have any extra nuts or bolts left, cleaned and snapped every censor in place, replaced a few old looking hoses, and feel like the man for accomplishing such a feat. Think I might go get my certifications and start a small mobile mechanic business. I learned so much. Wild that a censor that’s not connected properly bc it had a broken clip could cost so much trouble. But, thankful for the process of learning my car and turning some wrenches. I think my car appreciates the cleaner intake system and tune up, getting about 45 miles to the gallon on my 06 eclipse right now and she sounds so good. Idling at a solid 600, runs a little cooler and that gas mileage is a big plus. Hitting the junkyard tomorrow to get the nuts and bolts my mechanic didn’t put back in and doing my own work from now on.

    • @colinlindgren7378
      @colinlindgren7378 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      99.9% chance that it won’t cause that. Unless it was misfiring for so long that it weakened a connecting rod or something and that broke and blew the engine. But yeah in 15 years of working on my own cars and 10 years in shops I have never ever seen that happen

      Also check your censor connections. Get some sensor cleaner spray disconnect your sensors, wipe them down, spray them and make sure you got good connections. Just fixed my po300 code and replaced a lot of stuff and the whole time I had a sensor coming loose off the the timing belt cover that was the culprit. The clip was broken when I payed a mechanic to replace my timing belt and the censor was got loose after a couple weeks and the fun began. Replaced a lot of stuff trying to figure out this code and the whole time it was one little censor handicapping my car the whole time.

    yea maybe replace the ignition coil it could be bad and every part on your ... could be bad so now its parts changer time yes the problem will be solved how ever your ignition coil could be good you are applying needing to change oil logic with parts oil takes way more abuse then parts a different path would be to test the ignition coil ohm it see what the reading is its its bad you got bucks then change it
    kind of a hard and fast rule
