Card HQ looks like it would be a fun face to visit but, I don’t think it will thrive in its current format. I could be wrong. I would’ve set it up more as the world’s largest perpetual card show. Rent out space within the store to dealers and, charge them extra for inventory management. Or let them send cards and sell them for a %, without a space rental. More of a physical COMC than a trading card Walmart. That’s just me though.
I like tag. I like tag for the exact reason he said nobody does lol I wanna know exactly what and how my cards are graded and appropriate that it’s completely unbiased
Why can’t Geoff just open a shop like a normal person? He tries so hard to say the right things, talking about the different shops that he visited. Talking about Burbank, and taking their advice., but then has to throw in that he’s the future of retail . Come on lol
Wouldn't it be easier for Geoff to have the card listed on the floor and website/ebay? When it sells on either platform, you should be able to develop a software to remove the listing by a simple barcode scan or completed purchase. Perfect scanned images. Most card shops use this practice anyways. The R2D2 cart makes no sense to me.
Back in the 80's and 90's I can remember every city had a card shop or several card shops and local card shows monthly. Now only at the flea market and only card shows a couple times a year that are hours drive away.
Went to CHQ twice over the weekend (once Friday and once yesterday). This is one man's opinion, but I thought it was great. Pretty much everything was priced reasonably, tons of cards and wax to choose from (not a lot of recent Panini hobby product though - MUCH retail), and customer service was great. I even sold them a few cards and got very fair pricing. I was able to get 80% of very reasonable comps for a store credit. None of this means the shop/business model is sustainable, you can do pretty much anything for a period of time if you've got upfront dollars, but if you like cards, I think it's worth checking out and agree much more with the positive Google feedback than the negative. Reviewing your own business is a bad look for sure, but what some of those negative reviews described I didn't see over about maybe 3-4 hours in the shop. Of course two varying experiences can be true at the same time.
The city of Atlanta has a large black population but I think is no longer Majority black. Also Cards HQ is in Cobb County (not Fulton or Dekalb Counties which are the counties that contain the City of Atlanta) which is 27% black / 51% white and adjacent to the north side of Atlanta which is heavily white. Much of the black population of the city is on the south side.

Especially if you catch a grader on a bad day than have fun with those low grades because the grader wanted to be an a hole. At TAG the grade is the card not the other way around. It is still my opinion TAG is the future of card grading. You get the grade the card deserves not the grade you feel it deserves.

"CardsHQ is pretty much the Taylor Swift of sportscard stores". Honestly though - I want Geoff to succeed as I know how tough it is to set-up and run any type of shop. But like someone commented earlier, he does seem a little delusional. Wish he would've toned it down a little - like hype it up but not like he just invented water. He should have stuck to the online store. They have way too much overhead to turn a profit. Give it 2 years CardsHQ will either be out of business or have moved to a 1500-2000sq ft store. But my guess will be completely closed. A 4 million dollar investment in that huge store. It would take 10 years to turn a profit. Very stupid investment in my opinion
If Geoff can use his connections and influence properly I think he might pull this off. I’ll bet they pivot at some point to make themselves more profitable. If he runs an honest business he should do ok. Revolutionizing the card business will take a ton of time, energy and money which one will run out at some point. One of the funniest things about this hobby to me is that it doesn't want objective, accurate grades. It just wants 10s. It's like the opposite of any well developed collectibles market where objective considerations of quality are desired.
Your point is well taken. The issue in this hobby is that every one of the 'objective/quality' opinions that are coming from these 3rd parties have all proven to be either: wrong, incompetent, scams, collusion, or any one of many other instances of these groups making a huge mistake. As you said - it is funny... because it's true.
He's about 8 years too late on this. 2016 or so would of been a good time to start one to take advantage of the gradual climb for a few years and then the pandemic boom he would of made a lot. Most card values are going down daily and its too expensive to keep a card store open these days they're relics. The paintings and color choices inside look like a daycare setting. A bit creepy for a card shop I dont know what they were thinking on that.
Purdu didn’t win The Super Bowl but gave a good enough showing that his rookie cards should not get hurt that much; that is if you believe a rookie card is worth 10’s of thousands of dollars…..
Yo! Much respect to you guys for supporting Rattle Pokemon. I’ve been watching both of your channels for about a year now and needless to say both of your contributions to the collecting community are priceless. Love to see watchdogs not only expose the scum of the hobby, but also support other watchdogs out here fighting the fight as well. Much love and respect to you guys fr!
I hope Geoff crushes it. All the haters broke as shit, doing nothing with their lives except complaining about card prices. Yeah cards dropped 90% from peak, Geoff pushes on! I don't want 50% of you bashers pretending you on cards when this market rips back higher. You sold all your cards and will be on the sidelines watching winners win!
Cards HQ will have a honeymoon period for I would say 6 months to a year, then once the newness wears off we will see if its a sustainable business. It is hard to run any business and Geoff dove head first into 3 feet of water with this model for a card shop. I think the only way it survives is because it seems like Geoff has a good amount of new worth be it from him or his wife.
I’ll take anyone’s bet that Jeff Wilson’s store will be shut down in a year. The only thing he’s cutting edge on is coming up with more ways to make himself look more foolish.
Lol as a liquidator who works for banks, creditors I foresee in card HQs future needing my service. You can’t open a retail outlet without gridding out your sq footage x amount of dollars per sq footage each month. This is a sure way to bleed yourself out of business quickly. He should of one hired a consultant like myself who knows how to layout your store to actually make money. Don’t get me started on your inventory also..you must have triple the amount of inventory already for streamlining before you open the store. I don’t wish I’ll will on anyone but he clearly doesn’t have someone he gets real honest opinions on how quickly retail fails. I think he needs to honestly seek that out quickly before his creditors come calling.
Does anyone else just miss the day's of just opening packs, and trying to pull the newest rookies! Not worried about anything else, just base rookies like the 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. or the 1990 Score Barry Sanders, and being happy!!! How I miss the good old days!! Now there is so many "1/1" of the same player. From the same card company just different sub sets. Some "1/1" have the same pitcher just a different color or a different pattern of the same dame card!!!
Dans Vintage Baseball actually seized a moment and charged Geoff at the premiere of Cards HQ. He got a solid right hook off that was slowed only by osteoarthritis. Unfortunately, Geoff evaded and Dan went to the ground. Ended up leaving with a little unstable angina and hurt pride. Nothing a quick trip to Hardee’s couldn’t cure.
It would have worked better I think to put up 30 regular size cars shops all over Georgia and farther reach if possible. Basically be like McDonald’s of card shops, try to take a piece of the market that way. One huge building in the middle of no where is not going to get it done. Online sales and his you tube channels are going to be what keeps this place afloat not local Georgia foot traffic.
Geoff does realize that he is opening a card store....right? I feel like Geoff tells himself such an insane amount of bullshit that he thinks it's true. "The future of retail in America" is just hilarious. I wouldn't even know about his store of the future if not for SCR.
I liked how in mojo video he was like the prices are so good I couldn’t even make an offer on them…. Ok how do they make money if they price everything under? It’s a cool place and store from what I see in everyone’s videos. But I’m not paying/making a trip there that costs me money just to get there, to then spend more money on cards and then spend money to get home. If I’m in the area for something else I will definitely take a trip to check it out. But unless you are within about a two hour drive of the building I don’t see how this adds to the hobby or changes the hobby overall.
Think about how Geoff and a bunch of others are gonna cry when the hobby crashes after everyone else realizes how they are being played and manipultaed by the card companies. Buying this shit they are producing nowadays is just empowering them to keep raising the prices and the market just cant sustain itself. Kinda like the government...
Cards HQ will be studied by other industries, mostly bankruptcy courts.

You need to do a LIVE from cards hq!
Did this dude actually attribute the 2020 boom to anything other than well...all the shit that happened? LOL
Go work for him, scrub
Cards HQ will have a honeymoon period for I would say 6 months to a year, then once the newness wears off we will see if its a sustainable business. It is hard to run any business and Geoff dove head first into 3 feet of water with this model for a card shop. I think the only way it survives is because it seems like Geoff has a good amount of new worth be it from him or his wife.
Only in the card industry these bastards can't be trusted @ all !!!
What an awesome idea for Mr Wilson. A card store. It might be the only way for him to sell his bad purchases to newbie hobbyists.
Burbank started the standard for CardsHQ to even be a thing.
Cc2 has got to stop making thumbnails with his mouth agape.
He practicing for Geoff
THANKS FOR ALL THE USEFUL INFO!
SGC is very hard on grading. I trust an SGC 10 more than a PSA 10. Ill keep submitting to PSA due to the value, but I hope it flips at some point.
It won’t
All and all seemed like a good time in Atlanta.
You think Geoff’s wife has figured out he is gay yet?
I wouldn't be surprised if a giveaway required a positive review for a chance to win.
LOL - "people love watching a train wreck" Let's Go! See you Thursday night!
What’s with The Topps hat? Did Topps send the hat with card boxes filled with rare inserts? In the words of Joe Biden, “no, no,no,no,no,no……”.
I love when you guys play clips of Don West - Fleeeeeeeer
Dans Vintage Baseball actually seized a moment and charged Geoff at the premiere of Cards HQ. He got a solid right hook off that was slowed only by osteoarthritis. Unfortunately, Geoff evaded and Dan went to the ground. Ended up leaving with a little unstable angina and hurt pride. Nothing a quick trip to Hardee’s couldn’t cure.
Card HQ gonna get robbed.
Did you see that suck fest mojo did at his shop. Can't wait until card collector2 gets there 😮
Cards HQ is the future of retail. he might be right. they are shutting down.
Wow, Geoff sounds extremely cocky.
Cards HQ will be paying "people" or freebies to give him a good feedback lol
I support AI all the way!!
Keep a eye on that Rattle Pokemon scheme it will come out that it was fake
Didididididididip is the future of sports cards in America. Dipping makes sport scards popular.
I’m all about vibes in this video 🙂
Geoff does realize that he is opening a card store....right? I feel like Geoff tells himself such an insane amount of bullshit that he thinks it's true. "The future of retail in America" is just hilarious. I wouldn't even know about his store of the future if not for SCR.
5 live viewers on cards hq and I'm one of them lol😂
Derp
I liked how in mojo video he was like the prices are so good I couldn’t even make an offer on them…. Ok how do they make money if they price everything under? It’s a cool place and store from what I see in everyone’s videos. But I’m not paying/making a trip there that costs me money just to get there, to then spend more money on cards and then spend money to get home. If I’m in the area for something else I will definitely take a trip to check it out. But unless you are within about a two hour drive of the building I don’t see how this adds to the hobby or changes the hobby overall.
it's like come on is it really a 1/1? or the truth it's just a reprint with a new boarder, and you stamped it 1/1???
Think about how Geoff and a bunch of others are gonna cry when the hobby crashes after everyone else realizes how they are being played and manipultaed by the card companies. Buying this shit they are producing nowadays is just empowering them to keep raising the prices and the market just cant sustain itself. Kinda like the government...
