    In real life, Jonathan Daniels actually died saving a black girl's life named Ruby Sales. A white man pointed a gun at her and was going to shoot her but Jonathan pushed her out of the way and took the bullet. He was k*lled instantly. RIP Jonathan.❤🕊

      I guess they didn't put it in the movie because this is a kids' version. You can see they tried to keep the violence as minimal as possible.

    I’m beyond impressed with how Dr King daughter handled herself in this movie and how she was taught how to handle her pain. The pain of this country taking her father’s life. May God have mercy on those with hatred hearts in this country. 🌻☘️💖2023’ it still exists.

      I would have to agree with you, because I too feel so much for these two men, Jimmy and Jonathan, it's so sad how these people went through, even though what we have done to them, I just wish I could just take a whole bunch of those A**holes and put them in one Big Room, make them strip down all the way to where the sun don't shine, then heard them all in another big room, close all the doors and windows, open doors from the ceiling and pour every single color paint there is and known to mankind (I'm not talking about a certain wrestler), Then heard them one at a time into another room, and have speakers of other people's voices yelling at them, It doesn't matter to me either a person is Black, White, Red, Green, Purple, Orange, Yellow, Or as The Rock would say, "It Doesn't Matter What Color a Person's Skin is", also we are all god's children, we don't make the boundaries, it's A**'holes like that A**hole Sherrif that makes the boundaries, every time I see a person on TV, I see them as my Brothers and Sisters or as My Uncles and Aunts, also I wouldn't mind attending and worshiping at their church, even if I'm the only white Christian Girl there, also I have two Nieces, I wouldn't mind if they attended their kid's School (including High School), as would my Children, as would my Nieces Children, as would my children's children, and my nieces children's children, as would their children's children's children, as would my nieces children's children's children, as would my Children's Children's Children's Children, Etc. Etc. Etc.

      Maybe? But what do you watch that isn't black AMERICAN history? Because somehow American black history has come to dominate all narratives about black history and I see not just young people starting to be really confused thinking that everyone's history is the same as the American history. When there's a really big, diverse world out there! But young people often would rather watch a film than read a book...

    All the internet shows is the evil roles Clifton Powell plays, and to be fair there’s a lot where he is evil. But this portrayal of Dr. King is absolutely powerful. Akin to Jeffery Wright in Boycott or David Oyelowo in Selma.

    One of the things I love about this movie is how well behaved black people were back in 1965. No stupid sagging pants, people not dressed like they just got out of bed! No one playing "music" at over the top volumes in there cars. No ganstas, no hoochi mommas, no in the hood garbage like we see so much of in our community now! Perhaps, best of all, you don't here any black folks in this movie cussing almost every sentence you here coming out of their mouths! In fact you hear no cussing at all! This movie is a breath of fresh air from what I see from the people in my community today!

    The movie is a testament and memorial to the historic events of that time. But can imagine that the actual events were so much more scary - makes my heart tight to even think of that time. Interestingly, i feel that the governor (or whoever) backed off at the barricade when he saw the number of northern whites marching in solidarity. Yes Jonathon Daniels was a true martyr.

    I Remember My Husband Adam, our Five Children, our 5-year-old Identical Twins named Ruth (Girl, our Daughter) and Jessie (Boy, our Son), our 7-year-old Daughter named Rachel, our 9-year-old Fraternal Twins Named Mark (Boy, our Son), and Jacob (Boy, our son), and I watched this when it was on the ABC Network on "The Wonderful World of Disney, and during the next few hours, we sat in the living room, Adam and I was sitting on the couch, Ruth, Jessie, Rachel, Mark, and Jacob were sitting on the floor, in Spellbound Silence, we were even singing along to that beautiful song that girl Sheyenne was singing, It's just hard to believe how people in that town could be so mean to them, when is that we were the ones that brought them here many years ago, as slaves, That Deputy that was talking to Sheyenne and Her Friend Rachel, was a Meanie, and that Sheriff is also a bully, I just wish we could take those two and so many others like them in one big room, and make them strip down all the way to their D****, then heard them into another room, shut all the doors and windows, open a door from the Ceiling, and pour every single color paint down on them, then heard them one at a time to another room, and make them see themselves in the mirror, and make them hear their own voices talking to them from speakers that'll be hanging from the ceiling, if it wasn't for Great People Like, Rosa Parks who refused to give up her seat on a bus, Frederick Douglas, Nelson Mandela (R.I.P), and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr (R.I.P), we wouldn't Have African American People in Daytime Shows, Talk Shows, News Broadcast, Sports, Like Basketball, Football, Golf, Wrestling, and we wouldn't have one to be President of the United States.

    We watch this movie in class today at school because we’re learning about the civil rights movement and I almost cried when Jonathan got shot and I really watched it later and it felt even more painful to watch

      And why? She grew like any of us. She was 6 years old in full house and maybe 11 or 12 here in this movie ..she just grew up and continued her career as an actress..

      We want freedom but we are still are in brutality because we lost our education and who we are. Also our public schools is going backwards by not going further.

      @@melissawalker9091 education is not only in school.
      Find out “who was there” and talk with them (I am female, and i thank the suffragettes every time i go vote), or search for interviews with them here on TH-cam.
      And you were apparently asleep in English class, because your entire second sentence is a mess.

      I get what you are saying education is not for school. We can learn by watching and learning from economic by watching it on tv also from other people.

    As horrendous as this scene was, it was tame compared to the 2014 Selma scene

    • @msrain1235
      @msrain1235 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      True, but one thing that this movie got right that Selma 2014 got wrong is when the Bloody Sunday March started they shot the gun and the people ran off. In this movie and the real Bloody Sunday those people didn't move until they were pushed and trampled over.
