Mike Fox I'm glad you enjoy them. I did buy it and thought about dropping one of those 6 core CPU's in but the problem is that the motherboard has such limited overclocking potential because of its bad power delivery that it won't make the most of it. Great video, I'd love to see it more in depth. Not surprisingly, Alienware machines were much higher quality before they were acquired by Dell. At least Dell didn't completely destroy Alienware like HP did to Voodoo PC. I remember drooling over these "boutique" PCs back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Yes, they were very overpriced, but the quality was exceptional.
Those Vodoo machines were awesome. I would love to get my hands on one. I will go more indepth with the PC and give proper benchmarks. Thanks for the comment.

It is a very heavy PC, so it will be difficult to buy from a different country. I hope you find one some day.
R4 ALX
I picked up one of these on clearance at a pawn shop for $50. It came with a i7 960, a gtx 950, and 6gb of ram. Its doing surprisingly well but could definitely benefit from a ssd, more ram, and a better graphics card. Heaviest pc I've ever lifted though!
I think I’m gonna buy it for about 100$. Can I restore it ?
Great video, I'd love to see it more in depth. Not surprisingly, Alienware machines were much higher quality before they were acquired by Dell. At least Dell didn't completely destroy Alienware like HP did to Voodoo PC. I remember drooling over these "boutique" PCs back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Yes, they were very overpriced, but the quality was exceptional.
Those Vodoo machines were awesome. I would love to get my hands on one.
I will go more indepth with the PC and give proper benchmarks.
Thanks for the comment.
Yeah, Voodoo was as good as it gets, pretty much the Ferrari of custom PCs. Good luck finding a pre HP Voodoo, I haven't seen one for sale in a very long time. Looking forward to the next video on this machine!
I rember when Alienware made their first Area 51 ALX during Pre Dell era and this PC was way ahead of its time though. Runlike a champ to perform a video games at that time. I still had it.
i had this exact model the R-4 aurora
Just leave me alone with my Vintage Aurora R1 already...
I have this as my backup pc and it is sick
This Dell Optiplex on steroids.
Definitely: EPIC!
Watching thus in 2021 and wishing rgb would just end.
Did you need that entrance
I have an Alienware Aurora r3 (with some upgrades ofc) and it works perfectly fine and I have no complaints. Temps aren’t too bad either and it performs great and it looks great. That being said, I didn’t pay 2000$ for it I got it for free but still.
I have this PC. Bought it in 2009. upgraded it since to i7 980x gtx 980 16g ram and an 512 ssd. Really want to make it a sleeper though just worried about motherboard fitment and rear I/O shield.

It Runs very Well Today 11Years later *lol* XD // Yes(!) i agree that every New PC is way faster, But i LOVE this Machine, back there in November 2010 i Payed Over 3000US Dollar for it, and Love my Pretty Big Oldtimer Machine still Today; and Play with it TODAY too (for Example Command&Conquer Remastered)
