    Good job Sam, it certainly is an impressive boat and something that I’m seriously considering for work in the top end.
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts and suggestions.

    Thanks Sam. You've sold me on the 1550 over the 1450.

    Thats a cracking little boat. I use a rib, here in scotland, which serves our purposes well....fishing, landing on tricky places, family fun...but if thess were available here, id have looked at them for sure.
    I like the lateral stability of the rib, with the tubes and its very buoyant. With a name like stabi, id assume these are pretty stable as well. Pretty important on a smallish vessel, to avoid tipping people out.
    I wonder iv the alu hall is crashy in the waves. Mine does slam, even with a deepv.
    Enjoyed the vid...cheers

    Great Review! U live in a beautiful part of the world!
    Looking at dive ladder, wondering if it cud be removed and then attach an aluminum bracket to hold an smaller backup motor 9.9 hp?? Going offshore you have a back up🤔

    • @sam-ww1wk
      @sam-ww1wk ปีที่แล้ว

      9.9 be a little heavy back there. I'd go with a thumper to keep down weight and size.

    Got one of these priced up this week and at easily over 100k with basic electronics.. well the decision was made pretty quickly

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately thats what they’re coming in at nowadays mate! I stayed away from talking prices as it varies so much between areas and over time… as tested this was quite a bit less than the 100k mark but still up there!

    • @keriboi
      @keriboi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah they are pricey in NZ as well. For the money you could get a bigger Frewza/FC boats so a pretty niche market.

      @@samspinks1513 yeah different prices in Perth aswell I guess mate. Was 96k for boat motor trailer here, with the 1450 being 50k I just couldn’t see where the other 47k was coming from tbh 🤷🏼‍♂️ great boats don’t get me wrong 🤙🏽

    Just wondering what the sun shade options are on this boat?

  • @ia6980

    Hey, thank you for this nice review, watching from California, thinking in getting one, was looking at 1850, but that one is too expensive for my budget, looks like 1550 might be the choice, I was wondering how does it perform in ocean when its choppy? any bad experience with it during bad weather? Also does it has space for adding another kicker engine? Another question, how many people can actually sit down in this boat?, I know in 1850 only 4 spots available to sit down, others need to stand; Also, 1550 Fisher, is it worth the upgrade over 1550 Frontier?

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. I’m assuming you’re talking about the 1850 supercab?
      I just purchased an 1850 frontier (similar to this 1550)
      The size difference is quite a lot and notice the extra weight towing the 1850
      But I needed the bigger boat for longer trips and more storage
      All great sea boats. I can’t knock the handling capabilities of any of these stabicrafts. Haven’t had a bad experience and have been in some very average seas
      1550 frontier has a very open layout and plenty of spaces to sit around the front. But only has 1 actual seat for the driver. It’s probably not super passenger friendly for comfort, but has plenty of room for people.
      Frontier Vs fisher comes down to what you would like to do with the boat in my opinion. Frontier is much better for fishing around the whole boat, and is probably more roomy for more people with the open front layout. But the fisher has more protection from conditions.
      There is probably room for a kicker motor if you were to only opt for 1 step on the transom. But you would have to custom make a kicker mount on the rear
      Hope this helps!

      Utah 1550 Fisher owner here. Honestly, buy a cheap ticket up to Seattle and check them out at the dealer. They'll set you up with a test spin, too. I did, and ended up having mine delivered down here, which was cheaper than the gas to haul it back myself. Fisher and Frontier models are both cool. Seating is deceptive, as the gunwhales act as seats. I can take 4 people out on my 1550 Fisher with a light camp set up for 2-3 days. Says a lot about a 15' boat. The Fisher model is better for more people in rougher seas because it's easier to stand in for the passengers, and you have a full cockpit protection and storage. Frontier better for full boat active fishing, and easier to get off the bow at the beach. Take your pick. Safest 15' boat in rough seas I could ever imagine.

    The one thing for me is the seat. It needs to be a soft ride or some sort of system so it will not mess with your back from the pounding. This is from a old man.

    I just bought one and recently had it in the saltwater did a good scrubbing afterwards and now I got spots all over it I’m guessing from the salt…..,how to I go about cleaning before it gets worse???

    • @samspinks1513
      @samspinks1513  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, I think you’ll find that’s how aluminium reacts to the saltwater! It’s annoying, but every alloy boat I’ve seen does it. I now have an 1850 stabi which has been polished before I bought it, and that eventually gets covered in spots over time. You may be able to use products to keep on top of it but unless you wanted to polish it frequently I’d leave it be. Upto you mate! But I believe it’s just a given in saltwater use. Cheers!

      @@samspinks1513I saw you say you have an 1850 now- which model ? I am trying to decide between the 1850 fisher and the super cab models. Looking for something that is ventilated and keeps me out of the Texas heat, and also provides protection and can stay dry in bad conditions or warm in the winter. Do you notice a big difference from the 1550 ?

    Awesome boat - but I wouldn’t be selling it as a boat to go 40km off the tassy coast.. If you were caught in an actual big sea, I’m sure you’d realise very quickly you’re only in a 15ft tinny
