You don't notice the weight on either of these bikes, both well balanced easy to manoeuvre at low speed these bikes (including the GSX 1400) are probably the coolest looking bikes to come out of Japan. Take your pick

Are they easy to handle, especially at slow speeds? They're not featherweight bikes, are they?

both bikes are great, I owned the XJR 1300 and loved it. But from the optics I prefere the Yamaha...
