I actually do have a zero clearance throat plate for my saw made from 1/2" MDF, but at this point had forgotten to install it and realized afterward 😁.
That works. My zero clearance is actually set up for 90° angle cuts only, but I did have another blank that I could have actually installed for the bevel cut, which would have made the cut a lot easier.
@@TimberDesigns I have trouble with my Ridgid riving knife at times too. You probably don't need it when you're not making through cuts like the key slots.
I'm curious how you hung the board. Attached hanger or slotted key holes? I would think you would want it firmly fixed since you are sliding something into the slot to keep from pulling it off the wall.
Hey Daniel, so I originally was going to use two sided tape, which I did, but I didn't like how it was hanging. So, I ended up cutting two keyslot holes with the router and hanging it with two screws into drywall plugs, which I felt a lot better about 😁.
Man, im seriously torn with what Laser to buy...i was literally going to pull the trigger on the WeCreat 20W today....then i saw this Video. I need something very user friendly as i know nothing about Lasers and the software. The WeCreat has height adjustment automatically with pass through also. Software seems very user-friendly. This creality looks great and is cheaper...but just by a couple hundred bucks.....any thoughts or input would be appreciated.
Hey there, hands down I would go with the Creality, and the pro 22w if you can. It is so user-friendly and you download the Lightburn software. Xtool is also good, but much more expensive. What are you planning to cut/engrave?
Creality will work for these, just need the tumbler accessory for it. If you're looking to do things like acrylics, glass, etc, a diode laser may be better.
Hmmm. Your skills and teaching ability is good but you started this video claiming that for this project you'd only need a table saw and clamps... you then proceed to use a band saw, belt sanders, laser engraver... come on man stay true to your promises
Hey thanks, and fair enough. You can build it only with those tools. Sander is a given, must have forgot to mention that, but laser and band saw aren't needed, just an option
@TimberDesigns i don't disagree but just please be careful on your hooks at the beginning be completely honest OR disclose up front that you'll be using a few more tools. When you got to your laser engraver, it really turned me off
@@TennesseeLivingNowfair enough and I really appreciate the feedback! I am doing my best to make sure I try and include everything that I use and will keep this in mind 😁
Nice easy project. Thanks for another great video dave.
Very welcome!
I am wanting to get a wood working project going sometime in the near future. Thanks for an incredible project.
Your welcome, thanks for watching!
Hey Dave; Another Great video, appreciated
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
You need to make or buy a thin rip jig to get those straps without measuring. A zero clearance throat plate on your saw would also be helpful

@@TimberDesigns I usually have zero plate in except when doing bevel ou using sled which already zero clearance.

Probably not, but i try to leave it in when I can
Lovely project
Thanks so much!
That is a great idea. Can make great gifts and sales.
100%, thanks for watching!

I thought this video was to teach me how to make a key holder. Turned out to be an advertisement for a laser engraver.
Hey there, it was to show how to build it, the laser engraver was just an add on bonus is all, but not needed 😁
Do you think the slots are better than usung small cup hooks or nails? I've never seen that style before.
I wouldn't say they're better, I would just say that they're different. I thought it was a bit more of a modern look and it does work really well 😁

@TimberDesigns I'm looking for a good all around machine. Wood, tumblers, etc
Creality will work for these, just need the tumbler accessory for it. If you're looking to do things like acrylics, glass, etc, a diode laser may be better.
*If you cover with masking tape prior to laser engraving you will not have to go back and sand after laser engraved.*
That's an awesome idea, never thought of that!
so the laser burns through the tape? How would that affect the settings?
I'm not sure it would as the laser would
burn through like nothing was there.

*Masking tape is Sooo Thin it will not Drastically affect your setting.*
