Winter in my part of the world is when I need a chipper the most! Our bermuda goes dormant and its always a very tight, nearly grass-less lie around the greens and chipping with a wedge, no matter the bounce is a nightmare.
So i just bought one. I have to say as a 3 cap im not sure its worth giving up a spot in my bag but, i used it 3 times this weekend and each time perfect shots. one was under a tree from 70 and the other 2 were short chips.....its 9 iron loft but plays like an 8 really. comes off hot.. the club however is shaped and weighted in a way that allows me to make very very consistent contact, much better than grabing a nine iron. im trying to figure out how to keep in the bag.
I think if you have a space in your bag already it's a great addition - but as you said, if you're taking something out that you already use, it's definitely a tough choice.
I use this club here in Arizona. In the desert, we have nothing but tight lies and hardpan. How hard? I've seen sparks flying off the bottom of the club. ChipR works well! Note: This is a heavy club with a hot face that takes a few rounds to get used to.
Thank you for an interesting review. It would be worthwhile to compare this 38*5* ChipR with a Cleveland Smart Sole 4C chipper with 42* loft. Possibly the 42* chipper might be better when closer to the green for short chips.
I had a look at one, but seemed too heavy for my liking. I'm going to have an old but little used 9 iron bent upright to see how that works. Much cheaper and no loss if it doesn't suit.
nine iron will do the same job but there is a difference. The nine iron will cost you nothing as you already own it and the Ping instead will cost you .....£ 150
I bought one. it shaved 2 to 3 strokes of per a round. Perfect for bump and run

I think cutting lob wedge is the only move.

Thanks for the nice review! Gonna give this a try. Can spare one little used slot in the bag
Any time! definitely give it a go.

Just got one for £132, bit of searching on Internet, and a code supplied by company for a 1st order from them, think that's well worth the punt
Great price that! Well worth it for that price.
Ping made a square strike wedge
Great review. Is it also suited to female golfers?
Why wouldn't it be?
Yes definitely, but I'd recommend a fitting for it to get the correct specs.
@@GolfmagicPlus Great stuff, thanks?
@@MrSitemaster2 I asked because I didn't know and was deferring to someone more experienced. Ever heard of women clubs Vs mens clubs?
Is the marketing saying 70% of golfers will not benefit? That’s very niche
Isn’t that what a 7 iron choked down back in stance is for?
Rough????
That’s fairway at some courses
It's rough at my course!
@@GolfmagicPlus
It’s not rough at any course. Maybe semi rough at some parkland fare?
Nice, but WAYYYYYY overpriced! Got MY Cleveland chipper for $114
its a cleveland...
@@Jmw790 fine, if you wanna pay $180 for a Ping
Too bad you can’t find the damn things anywhere
Stock is rather weak currently, should perk back up again around December though

Fyi. These clubs don't have a heal like a nine iron to dig into the ground..😊
too much talking too and too little chipping and not even great chipping to add. Ping using every UK TH-camr to push their new product...
I'm not a tour pro - Not going to get up and down every time! Appreciate the feedback though.
@@GolfmagicPlus very polite answer, I wouldn't have been as nice. Perfect amount of chat and golf shots so thank you very much
