    Another cool thing you can do with dauthi embrace is give it to a defending creature so it can't block. Like if you have like 10 guys and they have 1-2 blockers it very efficient to just make them not be able to block

    I've recently mentioned Cultural Exchange in one of my videos, where I discussed how versatile it is in a 4 player EDH game, especially when you go against tribal decks and switch out +1/+1 pumpers between for example an elf player and a merfolk player. Also, probably the cutest artwork in the history of Magic The Gathering.

    • @thatlamp
      @thatlamp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not to mention it can steal creatures that have hexproof or shroud as it never actually targets the creatures.

    I finally got to a point where the over half of the cards in these videos are already in my decks! I think this series changed how I look for cards to put in my EDH decks. I am pretty sure my playgroup is starting to get annoyed with me having to read every card now lol. Keep up the good work!

    Yo, big fan! I love this series so much! I especially love that you bring up cards you don't know what decks to put them in because often they slot in perfectly into one of the decks for the custom commander discord i am in.

  • @andibadboy1

    In addition to Matthew Thurber's comment about Cultural Exchange not targeting I think there's another REALLLY fantastic aspect of the wording. The main problem with stealing someone's commander or putting something like imprisisoned in the moon or song of dryads is sometimes the player in question goes. "Huh, well I don't have a way to destroy the thing that took my commander, or destroy it myself to get it back... so guess I'll just kill you and then get it back that way! :)" But in the scenario that you were talking about where you swap 2 people's commanders, you're NOT the person they need to kill to get their commander back. Which is soooooooooo cool.

    I just got go put this out: I really love you for saying the errata text of all the cards instead of the printed texts. because most of the time that is way more clear :)

    you can also use dauthi embrace to make your oponent creatures don't block, its kinda good when i wanna force my oponent to block with a certain creature by giving shadow to all the others and attacking him.

    Another combo with Dawn of the Dead: End the Turn effects. Sundial of the Infinite and Obeka being recurring versions of the effect. Since they exile effect is a trigger that happens on the next endstep, you wait for that trigger to go on the stack, then end the turn in response, letting you keep whatever you resurrect. This also works for token clones that die at the end step from effects like Flameshadow Conjuring or Inalla.

    Years ago I had a Dauthi/Shadow deck. And I loved using the Embrace with Dauthi Assassin and/or Dauthi Ghoul. Need something dead? Give it shadow and pop it. Yeah, it's 4 mana, but repeatable. Maybe someone is going nuts with sacrifices, give a few of those creatures shadow before they leave and grow the Ghoul.

  • @dzspdref

    #1 is only slightly different from Vesuvan Doppleganger, since when VD enters, you must choose a creature in play for it to copy, or it will die.
    #6 is also affected by proliferate effects, that's why it's not totally like Cumulative Upkeep and can do more damage faster. Remember it is not targeting anything, so gets around shroud and hexproof.

    • @cteal2018

    There a mono white two card infinite tokens combo I used to run in my old eight and a half tails deck, that go's with Stormfront riders and cryptic gateway you just need two soldiers on the field and stormfront in hand to start with then use cryptic gateway to bounce one of the soldiers plus stormfront to generate two more to tap with cryptic rinse and repeat. End result is infinite tapped soldier tokens that will make your opponents want to kill you or boardwipe before you untap!

    Cryptic Gateway isn't great in a tribal deck with a low CMC for its creatures, like rogues or goblins, tbh. 5 CMC to play small creatures every turn while tapping your board just doesn't flow with the gameplan of most aggro decks, which low-CMC tribal decks tend to lean towards.
    But it really is fantastic for an Unesh sphinx tribal build. (It's especially good for Unesh because Unesh cares more about ETBs than actually keeping your big expensive boys untapped.)
