Hi Stephen! I'm an engineer & have invented since i was young...last year I started watching ur videos & website. My approach on my recent inventions was 2 make prototypes, get sourced from China, and try to get a sale in big box store..very hard & lots of money to get going. So after failures the last 10 years, I changed direction and used ur approach with my spin bag design. Earlier this year I found a company in chicago here...who made a license deal with me...using my patent and my designs. So now I wait and see how it goes over the next few years and hopefully start collecting checks. I'll follow up with u and let u know how it goes! (I have my next new design prototyped almost and going to use ur technique this year again) Thanx so much for your knowledge!!
Hi Stephen, I got a lot of info from this video but mostly I gained some self confidence.
I was disappointed to find an idea similar to mine on the patent pending list, but now I am reinspired after watching you. Thanks Ken Spillman
great upload..i really appreciate those people who really give there time and effort creating this video..just to share good ideas and tips about Licensing Product.
Hey thanks Jonathan a million. I have been trying to research this info for weeks and im so glad i can see an actually video about this info.
I am so excited to have found this video and Stephen Key, and so should you. If you're an idea person, or know one, Mr Key seems to be the guy who can point you to possibilties and as he alludes to in his book title, can show you it can be a simple process. I'm on my way to purchase his book right now.

Thanks for sharing I learnt alot. The interviewer is great with questions.
This was an awesome interview ....
do you have to have a prototype before you license the idea or do you just license the idea and have the company manufacture the product/idea?
Great info shared during this interview... If the licensing agreement sales through, do you get any credit or acknowledgement that the product is your idea? Thanks!
LOVE !!
Great video! I'm what you'd call an ideas man....I just dont have the balls to risk everything to start a business. Especially when its financial Armageddon! thanks for the upload this is really helpful.
Scott,
Yes there were minimum guarantees, but they were paid quarterly. Disney... fantastic company!!
That is the question, I have a product that a large company is looking at after signing an NDA,but many others just want free ideas.
I am looking for a patent attorney who I can count on with advise and patents for the ideas I have. One is this how can I protect an idea that can improve company in servicing their customers and I want to lend or sell this idea without a patent. basically how can I protect my idea and pitch this ideas without the company stealing it from me?
Wow💪
Thanks for the video, Gentlemen. Quick question if anyone knows...when approaching, say, the toy ohio company with the Jordan idea...i think Stephen said that they don't care if it's protected, etc., that, if it's a good idea, and they like it, they'll run with it. q: does anyone know if there's any type of signed confidentiality thing going on, or no? I know that some years ago, I approached petsmart with an idea and they didn't want it, nor would they sign anything before seeing it. thanks;-)
did you have to pay a minimum advance on royalties for the mikey mouse guitar pic?
That sucks,He didn't get it protected at all?
I HAVE A QUESTION I'M STILL NOT SURE ABOUT TRADEMARK OR COPYRIGHT I HAVE A LOGO NAMED AFTER MY THREE KIDS THAT IS UNIQUE AND A DESIGN OF JESUS TM OR COPYRIGHT I'M CONFUSED HELP
Sylvia..... I would get legal advice. You could call USPTO. fantastic customer service, or join a LinkedIn inventors group. There's always patent attorneys that are very helpful.
My boyfriend invented a great inovation wich is now used by PETROBRAS the multinational brazilian oil company. But he doesn't earn money for that. Only a "thank you" party at the company. It save thousand of dollar to the company!
the amount you get paid is only 6% of the wholesale price
Yes, the royalty is on the wholesale price.
I have been granted a provisional patent that will affect 250 million annual subscribers I would like someone to help me bring It Forward it needs integration of several existing products. this will change a 100 year old Antiquated system forever
Sexy is what I would call you. May I ask you how long is a Patent good for and don't you have to pay so much, say every 4 years or so, and if someone infringes on your patent, how long do you have , unless they slip by you, to send them a Cease and Desist Letter? Love you Guys, !!!
Stephen type in new invention Z Tag and check out my new invention
