The late Charlie Daniels said many great things about George Jones in the eulogy at George's memorial service.. Saying that "George Jones is the only guy that could get a 4 syllable word out of the word 'church'". Lol With the way he bends, twists, and stretches out certain notes in his songs.
I just turned 31, but George Jones has been one of my top favorite artists for years. Definitely on my personal Mount Rushmore. He has a huge catalog of hits over his career that spanned like 5 decades. I never get tired of his songs.
Awesome reaction guy’s 😊👍 The King of country soul 😃 I love George Jones, That voice is Legendary! I would love to hear more of him😊 “ White Lighting “ / “ She thinks I still care “ / “ Your still on my mind “ and so many more
So James Taylor actually wrote this song and was the first one to record it and I think his version is stunning and also James Taylor is joined on his version by his very good pal Linda Ronstadt and she sound as always amazing singing it with him
Wife here.., I was lucky to tour with George Jones in the 80's..(As my Father was his opening act quite a bit then)..They were great friends!! I have alot of great memories of that time in my young life.."Bluesy" and Authentic..and slow dancing...Perfectly Stated You Guys!!🥰
James Taylor wrote this song and recorded it himself in 1977. George Jones covered it in 1978, with James Taylor singing back up. Both versions are great, but George’s version has a certain “something” that fits him perfectly. This was one of my dad’s favorites… ❤️
"No Show Jones" was a named he garnered in his earlier years. It was also a song he wrote and sang about later in his career about the tendency he had to miss shows. He has so many great songs that are, along with him, iconic.
Also, George was 1 of th GR8’S, revered by, Hank Jr, Kid Rock Alan Jackson Loretta Lynn, Dolly, Waylon, Willie, he was a country Icon God Rest His Soul😇😎
There's a lot of blues in country music. George Jones and blues legend BB King did a duet called PATCHES. The late great BB King said everybody gets the blues and country music is just the white man's blues.
George Jones is a legend!!!! His vocals are some of the best in country music. Up there with Merle Haggard, Marry Robbins. Bartender’s Blues is a great showcase for his voice and delivery. Great reaction!!
Whether you know him as George, the Old Possum, or “No Show” Jones, he was one of the greats in country music. He also did some great duets, most famously with Tammy Wynette.
After discovering this channel, I've been waiting for this one. I saw George Jones in concert a year before he died and this was one of the songs he did. This is probably my favorite song from him. That being said, I would love to see both of you react to Randy Travis and George Jones sing "A few Old Country Boys" Singing along to that song for years helped me develop my deep voice which many people comment on
James Taylor wrote the song and it was on his album in 1977 and George Jones is somebody who remade it but it is James this song and his version is the best
@@jeffchampagne5587 Thanks for clarifying that. I truly believed James wrote it. George's version sounded so much older and outdated. No offense to George.
The only version I've ever heard was a duet with James and George. Now I can't seem to find any reference of it anywhere. I'm starting to think what I heard and have an MP3 version of, may have been a mash-up.
Mike Judge (creator of King of the Hill and Beavis & Butthead) had a show on HBO a few years ago called "Tales from the Tourbus". They were episodes about various artists, in which he interviewed family, friends, and co-workers of the artist, and he animated stories that they tell about them. He did a great episode on George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Those stories were wild and rough. Highly recommend it.. Someone broke the episode down into multiple clips and uploaded it onto TH-cam. That's how I watched it. He also did an episode on Waylon Jennings, which is good.. Though most of the stories are true in the show, some of the details should be taken with a grain of salt, because I did notice a few detail inaccuracies. For an example, Shooter Jennings saying that Waylon tied George Jones up to a tree. Waylon did tie George Jones up after George punched him in a drunken rage. But Waylon put him on the couch, he didn't tie George to a tree (unless it happened multiple times). I remember watching Waylon and George reminiscing about it on an episode of the George Jones show in the 1990's.
I hate to be overly critical but as soon as I saw virtually no reaction besides a giggle at the opening line, and no reaction in the least to how he phrased his first four opening lines (particularly the last line-“but I don’t mind the money, aaa-aa-aa-aa-tt all”-which he got from one of his proteges actually, the late Lefty Frizzell), I knew his singing greatness and exquisite phrasing went sorely over your heads. Heck even George admits he “oversang” this one.
Not a big fan of country music and it's probably because of how popular that new country BS is... but this older era was really great. Loaded with steel guitars and some great singers like George Jones and Dolly Parton.
FYI, George’s wife @. Th tyme hid his car keys, what did George do? Why hell, he proceeded 2 git th keys 2 his John Deere, and off he went, and th rest is histry 😂😂👍👍😎, Vince Gill actually has a song, 1 of th lyrics, and I quote she may hav took my car keys, but, she 4/got about my ol John Deere😂😂😂😎😎👍👍lol
He is from my area of Texas. East Texas. Loved George. He had the prettiest blues kind of voice and love that southern twang 😂. Love you guys too
George Jones was one of the greatest country singers ever. He was truly legendary.
The late Charlie Daniels said many great things about George Jones in the eulogy at George's memorial service..
Saying that "George Jones is the only guy that could get a 4 syllable word out of the word 'church'". Lol With the way he bends, twists, and stretches out certain notes in his songs.
George Jones is the greatest troubadour of all time! G.O.A.T!!
Grand tour, wine colored Rose's, still doing time, and golden ring with Tammy Wynette are a few of my favorite George Jones songs.
My parents “ song “ was He Stopped Loving Her Today. Y’all should check it out. Gorge Jones is pure country! Great reaction as always. Much love ❤️
I just turned 31, but George Jones has been one of my top favorite artists for years.
Definitely on my personal Mount Rushmore. He has a huge catalog of hits over his career that spanned like 5 decades. I never get tired of his songs.

James Taylor wrote this when he was in rehab stictly for George Jones.

JT wrote this song specifically for George to sing.
And James Taylor was singing in this version also that’s him in the background backing him.
One of my Favs! His voice in this makes it so.
"No Show Jones" was a named he garnered in his earlier years. It was also a song he wrote and sang about later in his career about the tendency he had to miss shows. He has so many great songs that are, along with him, iconic.

The country singer's country singer. Get around to his magnificent "Things Have Gone to Pieces" video.
There's a lot of blues in country music. George Jones and blues legend BB King did a duet called PATCHES. The late great BB King said everybody gets the blues and country music is just the white man's blues.
Written by James Taylor - another smooth as butter voice. George is a legend.👍☺️
James Taylor is singing back up of this and released his own cover of this song With George as back up
He certainly had a turbulent life. I wonder if Hank Williams would have been the same way if he had lived longer. Irregardless, R.I.P. Possum.
Can't even imagine the amount of great hit songs we missed out on, especially from an old seasoned Hank, had he lived past 29 years old.
George Jones is a legend!!!! His vocals are some of the best in country music. Up there with Merle Haggard, Marry Robbins.
Bartender’s Blues is a great showcase for his voice and delivery. Great reaction!!

Same ole me
A great one from George

Great song and the greatest singer ever
Y’all really should hear George and Tammy Wynette. The pain in their voices … full on emotions.
I think that you would like Tom T.Hall he is great singer/story teller from this era.
You guys really need to react to his song "the race is on" its a killer fast tune.
Try his sing song- the grand tour
For a great George Jones song with a sly sense of humor, you have to check out The King is Gone. It's just perfect.
James Taylor's version with Linda Ronstadt singing backup is great too.
Who’s gonna fill those shoes
Great one from George
The great James Taylor wrote this song. He does a great version
Bro black people with county twang is awesome. I smile every time I hear it ☺️
James Taylor's version is unbelievable! I had no idea James' version was a cover tune.
James Taylor wrote the song and it was on his album in 1977 and George Jones is somebody who remade it but it is James this song and his version is the best

James Taylor actually wrote the song for George and later cut it himself
I didn't know James Taylor wrote it, or this is a cover song.
These r my bar tunes when im n the doghouse.
He has the golden voice that all singers want to sound like. Like Waylon Jennings said "We cant all try to be George, so we do something else."
Love this reaction - great choice of song - definitely one of his best (but he did have an awful lot) and one of my favourites.

Good song I’d of chose cold hard truth or the grand tour both are his best
Tennessee whiskey was another classic from the possum
Here are other songs you can react to if you like to....White Lightning, and He Stopped Loving Her Today
Radio Lover by George Jones
CHOICES, THE RIGHT LEFT HAND.
Because it’s kool, it’s FYE, don’t step on BJ’S toes, don’t rain on his parade, why is a positive traction rear end kool, it just is 😎😎👍👍👍👍😎😎
Check out "The Door" or "The Grand Tour" too
He does a duet on this song with Trisha Yearwood on The Bradley Barn Sessions album that is near perfect.
Yeah he even reimprovised some of the phrasing on that version that turned out sounding fresh
George (and Hank, Sr.) was one BMF.
Zach Top did a decent cover of this.

Hell yeah the possum!!

Listen to “Bartender Song”-Rehab
Ol George can take your song and make it his,,,, Sorry James Taylor
