Sounds like fun. Be careful with Peppermint essential oil. It has menthol in it, so it can burn for some people with sentivities to it.

Lip balm tips: use rubber band to hold tubes together in a group while filling, use dropper to fill each tube with less mess (and control the amount of pour more easily), use heat gun to gently melt tops of balm to get rid of hole and make a smooth top. Enjoy!

Hello Becky I’m a candle & lip balm maker when they do get some hole dips you can use a blow dryer and slightly melt the tops that helps to smooth them out and the melted wax travels back down the hole and turns out very nice! 🙂

I don't know if this was already suggested, but perhaps you could use a Pyrex glass measuring cup to melt the ChapStick ingredients. The glass is heat safe and has a pour spout for filling tubes without a funnel. Its much easier to see the level of each tube as you fill them. I so enjoy learning new life skills from you. Wishing you and yours a gentle New Year filled with Joy!

Fyi, when using scents, use coffee beans to reset your sense of smell in between scents. It helps. You'll find that they have beans at a Yankee Candle store just for that purpose. ❤

I like peppermint but not in my lip balm. It's drying to the lips and kinda defeats the purpose of the lip balm. A tip I use is to use my candle wax warmer to melt the oils. It might take awhile but I put it on in the morning and when melted I pour. There is no babysitting since the heat is not high. I use a very small pan that will fit and I only use it for this purpose.

Becky, I know others have suggested this before, but just a reminder...you would eliminate so many errors, mix-ups and forgotten ingredients if you had your mise en place set up in advance. This allows you to concentrate on technique, directions and procedures. I know one of your goals is to always learn and improve. Mise en place is a basic principle taught in the best of the best culinary institutions.

I make healing salves and lip balm with EO's. It's much easier if you just use your glass measuring cups that pour easily into the containers, more for the salves. When made as a gift I use cute little mason jars or even small Altoid containers for my husband and the one I keep in the car, or for any other bit of extra. I also add more for the holes that develop. My friends, and especially my grandkids, always let me know when they are running out, which is fun for me. The salve is a perfect gift for really dry hands or cuts and make wonderful gifts whenever they run out. Nice to see some ideas in your comments as well, that I will try next time. I love that you keep the "not perfect" results as well. It's real!!! You make me miss living in the PNW!

They make a pouring tray you can put the tubes on and fill them. But they do a bunch of them at a time. But if you make a bunch you can just toss them in the freezer in a ziplock bag. Then pull a couple out when you need them. I live in Florida so I use chap stick year round cause the heat will make my lips dry too.

Hi Becky! I love this video, it’s suuuuper fun to learn along side of you and figure it out as you go, just like I do, spills and all 😂👌🏼
Anyway, a few things I learned from candle making is one easy way to pour these would
be to use your glass Pyrex measuring glasses to melt and mix in, because it has a spout.
Also that weird effect thing is called tunneling and it happens with inconsistent cooling, because the outside cools and solidifies faster than the center. You definitely had the right instinct with digging out the tunnel before topping it off. It helps if you let them cool on a cooling rack, but it will probably still tunnel a bit.
You can always take a hair dryer or heat gun to the top of them to smooth it out, if you want it perfect in the end.
Anyway, thanks for all you do and great video as always :)

Hi Becky, I love your videos! Just wanted to point out that you've been using the word "recipe" in place of a "dish" or a "product". We'd follow a recipe to make a dish/product, instead of "making a recipe". Just thought it'd put it out there

Hi Becky, I wonder if using a turkey baster to fill the chapstick tubes would work better??

I’m purchased the handmade chapsticks in the cardboard tube and they dry out so fast that you can’t use them. I agree the plastic would be better long term.

How much coffee do you usually use? My hubby and I cannot get on the same page!

Becky, have you ever frozen a breakfast casserole before baking? I am tempted to try it before another holiday rolls around!

It's so cool how the comment section is so positive, even with the several feedback. I think it's a reflection of the youtube creator.

I do not think anyone minded your messy kitchen, I was concentrating on the gift until you fixated on the messy kitchen. You're so thoughtful and your heart is in the right place. I like the homemade gift idea but gurrllll you're messy, so rushed- slow down, enjoy the process, you make such a shore. Happy New Year, I hope this year bless you and family, Mom and Dad with love, joy and prosperity. And, especially for you, the enjoyment without perfection while enjoying the greatest gift -life. God bless you and family and all followers.

Becky, just a recommendation, what about a turkey baster to fill those tubes up with that?

I made that croissant French toast casserole for Christmas morning, but we really didn't enjoy it, but I think I used different recipe than you and I didn't cover it with foil when baking so maybe that was the reason.

Hi Becky I am enjoying your channel. I use a turkey baster to fill the larger tubes. Would love to hear what your family thinks.

You put the tube that didn’t work in with the ones that did! I rewatched it before I commented!

You can get a turkey baster to help fill your tubes. A metal one that you dedicate to these types of recipes.

Just curious….why didn’t you use a glass measuring cup so that you could pour it easily

Loved the video. One comment, I bet they expect you to label the tubes of lip balm. A Cricut machine would work, or just use Avery labels on the computer. That would solve the problem of finger marks or whatever.

Can’t you put the jam labels on the chapstick?

I’ve never made chapstick before but do use them, I like the ones with a touch of cooling menthol in them, just a thought;/
