I remember spamming Swampert's Surf and ice beam just to take down the leaders' pokemon immediately with either Mightyena or Tropius backing him up to finish them off. But still, it somehow put me on edge aswell, especially when Solrock tried to use solarbeam on Swampert.
#Mixeli Since the whole gym battle featuring my favorite starter Pokémon🦎(Sceptile) it would be awesome if confirm him in Smash Bros Ultimate as DLC someday
I swear that as a whole the gym leaders in Emerald are definitely one of strongest and more challenging we had in the franchise. For real, if you look up their teams they all have some kinda of special moveset or strategy that can ruin the battle if you are too careless. An example of this and also my fav gym leaders are Tate & Liza: They have a Claydol, a Xatu, a Lunatone and a Solrock. All the team is inmune to ground moves so Claldoy can spam Earthquake every single turn without a problem. It also has Light screen, so all their team will resist ice, water, grass and dark moves better (their main weakness). On the other hand Xatu knows Confuse ray which can pretty annoying, especially combined with Calm mind that boots its special attack and defense. On top of that it has sunny day too to weak even more the water types moves, a pretty clever move since 3 out of the 4 pokemon are weak to water. Then Lunatone has Hypnosis (again, it can annoying), calm mind & light screen again, while solrock has sunny day to power his flamethrower and solarbeam. Sure, there are a lot of way to counter all those things but overall it's a pretty nice strategy for a 2004 game. It was almost impossible for me to beat them when i was 8.
And Flannery's team The first mon she sends will always go for Sunny Day at some point, and then she sends Torkoal and Camerupt and start spamming Overheat (120 BP + STAB + Sunny Day = Oh shit all my team died)
@@kxngrxse1562 And Juan because his kingdra spams double team and rest and also has a chesto Berry when it uses rest it will wake up instantly your only hope is using aerial ace but its a problem because it has ice beam
Well, I believe that the pun intended for him comes from "Don Juan" which in spanish is a man that charms a lot of women. A gallant man you could also say.
Why do I feel that the Normal-type Gym Leaders have to be such a big deal when I'm fighting them?? (Miltank, Slaking, and Watchog) Plus Cheren's damn Lillipup with Work Up
An analysis of all starters against all gyms and other specialists, starting with Hoenn: 1. Roxanne - Torchik has a slight disadvatage because you have to grind it to Combusken and learn a Fighting move at level 15. 2. Brawly - Everyone is equal. 3. Wattson - This is where the diversity begins. Assuming you already have a Marshtomp, it's the clear winner, with dealing STAB super effective damage against all of Wattson's Pokemon (mostly double weakness in Ruby/Sapphire) and being immune to Electric. In the vanilla games, Combusken is close behind because it can deal STAB super effective damage against most of the team, but in Emerald, it loses that advantage, and with that, loses to Grovyle, which resists Electric. 4. Flannery - Marshtomp is again the clear winner, resisting Fire and dealing STAB super effective damage, doubly super effective against Camerupt. Combusken is okay because at least it resists Fire, though the physical Fighting moves you'll use aren't very effective against the tank that is Torkoal. Grovyle is in trouble. 5. Norman - Combusken actually has an advantage, the rest are in trouble. 6. Winona - Sceptile and Blaziken are both in trouble, but Sceptile is doing much worse because only Pelipper doesn't resist Grass, while Skarmory, Tropius and Altaria having a double resistance. Blaziken can deal STAB super effective damage against Skarmory and Tropius, with the rest having a single resistance. Despite not dealing STAB super effective damage, Swampert is the winner for not being weak to Flying, while learning a non-STAB super effective (doubly for Tropius and Altaria) Ice move. 7. Tate and Liza - For the first time, Blaziken is the clear loser, though it can still deal neutral Fire or Fighting damage to all enemies. Sceptile can deal STAB super effective to all enemies but Xatu, while not being weak to Psychic. Swampert wins because it can hit both enemies with Surf and not being weak against Xatu. 8. Wallace/Juan - Blaziken is again in trouble, but can deal STAB super effective to the Sealeo and Juan's Crawdaunt, and neutral damage to the rest. Swampert can't deal STAB super effective damage to anyone, but deals neutral Ground damage and isn't weak to Water. Sceptile is the clear winner (finally), though it should be on the lookout for STAB Ice moves. Team Magma - Combusken is only slightly better than Grovyle, for dealing STAB super effective damage against any Mightyienas and neutral damage against Golbats. However, as some Camerupts lack Fire moves, Grovyle is actually better against them. Marshtomp wins again. Team Aqua - Believe it or not, Combusken is actually the best because most Sharpedos lack Water moves. Grovyle will have trouble against the many Poison Pokemon (what is it with evil teams and Poison Pokemon?), while Marshtomp, actually the loser, won't be able to deal STAB super effective damage to anyone. Sidney - Against the Elite 4, Blaziken finally shines. Look out for STAB Water moves from Sharpedo/Crawdaunt, though. Sceptile needs to look out for a non-STAB Flying move from Absol, while Swampert is actually slightly in trouble because Sidney's team has two Grass Pokemon it cannot hit effectively, one of them knows powerful Grass moves. Phoebe - Everyone is equal. Glacia - Blaziken shines again, but the threat of STAB Water moves is significantly higher. Swampert will have to resort to Ground moves, Sceptile is again in trouble. Drake - Nobody can deal STAB super effective (or even just effective) damage to a Dragon/Flying Pokemon, but if you kept an Ice move on Swampert, it'll win with ease. For the rest, Blaziken can deal effective damage to three out of five Pokemon, while Sceptile can only deal effective damage to two. Both have to be careful of STAB super effective Flying moves. Steven - Blaziken and Swampert are both great against the Aggron and the Metagross, while Blaziken is great against Skarmory and Cardily, and Swampert better against the Claydol. However, as Swampert's weakness to Grass is double, the Cradily poses a bigger threat than the Claydol is to Blaziken. Sceptile can only deal super effective damage to Claydol, and cannot deal effective damage at all to Metagross and Skarmory. In conclusion , though Swampert is the obvious star, Blaziken can mostly stand on its own, only being truly helpless against some of Winona's Pokemon. If there was a Grass specialist, even if they replaced someone Blaziken has a huge advantage against like Sidney, the picture could have been different.
QOTD: Tate and Liza definitely. I remember them always giving me trouble as a kid. I had to think about combos and not spamming attacks over and over without thinking to win and those little tykes taught me that. Plus Solrock and Lunatone are cool and underrated Pokemon.
I remember Emerald. Besting Juan then going to capture Rayquaza to just sweep the entire elite four. And if some how he fainted I had my overleveled Blaziken ready.
Yeah though teasing Wallace's status in Emerald and adding more lore or w.e to him was kinda needed IMO though regardless, Juan deserved more than a mentioning.
Really made no sense that they didnt give the gym leaders in ORAS their Emerald teams instead. Tate and Liza were too easy in ORAS but were tough in Emerald.
@Nick Cruz Wattson was alright in the original they're nothing wrong with a challenging gym leader, if a game is too easy like gen 6 it because boring. I've always wondered if Tate & Liza are really considered two trainers in-game or if the game treats them as one trainer. I always thought that the best way to find out would be to knock out both Pokémon on one side and see whether or not the next Pokémon is sent out... Hmm...

A guide for Tate and Liza: 1) Get Treeko as your starter if you don’t mind picking any Pokémon to start your adventure. 2) If you picked Torchic or Mudkip, catch a dark type Pokémon (e.g. Absol, Mightyena) and teach it Shadow Ball (if it can learn it) to make the battle easier. It might be able to take down Tate and Liza’s Pokémon in one hit! 3) Train Pokémon with high defense (e.g. Azumarill) so you can tank attacks. 4) Buy those Hyper Potions and Revives, you’re gonna need them.
I'm watching the Advnaced Gen right now. Nearly four or so more Ep until The next Season. I finished Emerald about 4 times. I used the Game Boy Cartrage on my DS, and the data kept getting corrupted, and I had to start over and over again. Same with Fire Red. I'm glad I got to Expirience Kanto in Heartgold where my data is kept and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
I'm currently playing an Emerald Nuzlocke and I went really surprised how easy I defeatead Norman. Protect is underrated dude, my Pelipper did it so damn good.
This brings back so many memories!! Emerald was the first pokemon game I ever played!! The game was in japanese, and I was very young, and even if I could read what was written, I couldn't really understand it at the time. Somehow, at the first gym, I had a lvl 25 Pelipper, and when I reached the third one it was like lvl 53 already hahaha that's ridiculous! My Pelipper was my best buddy, and I almost reached the elite four with it at lvl 93(bc I thought I did lots of wrong things in my gameplay, I ended restarting the game)! But I think that the most hilarious part now that I understand the game is that my Pelipper was at such a high level and its moves were like... Gust, watergun, fly and surf! Ridiculous I know. But I was very, very proud of my Pelipper, even today ❤️
In Emerald, my favorite leaders are Tate&Liza; I played Emerald shortly before ORAS were released and I destroyed them. I felt pretty good about beating a boss others seem to really struggle with. For me, the hardest leader was Wattson; without a ground type, he’s a nightmare to deal with (I had to catch a Geodude to even stand a chance).
Roxanne and Brawly got me and treecko struggle a bit The third gym was fine Easily beat Flannery with Pelliper Beat Norman barely with using yawn Killed Altaria with Pelliper Double-Slaps Tate n' Liza Kingdra was HORRIFYING Sydney was easy Phoebe was annoying Glacia ? (i think) was easy Drake got Ice-Beamed And i went through a lot of resets against Wallace
even as i grew up, norman is still challenging you cant apply status to spinda or it's stab boosted facade will crush you vigoroth slash is devastating if you dont kill and outspeed linoone in 1 hit it'll sweep your team with belly drum same goes for slaking. if you dont kill it in 1 go you'll get devastated by counter. yawn forces switch outs or you'll get put to sleep, then applying status on it would result in a devastating facade
xyzzy51273 treecko. I didn’t train the rest of my team up very much though, so once treecko fainted it was all over. Ive beaten them now though and I’ve made sure my team is trained for wattson
Juan's Kingdra is so jerkish. The fact that it likes to spam the crap out of Double Team and use Rest to restore any damage you to it makes it one of the toughest ace Pokemon of any Gym Leader to take down, and for all the wrong reasons, simply because it's just sheer luck instead of skill. Obviously, there are moves like Vital Throw, Aerial Ace, and Shock Wave that cannot miss, but even then, it's not easy to take down Kingdra.
i just wanna know what’s the purpose of some stupid moves u did for nothing… is it genuinely purpose for dumbsake or u just didnt know, like on sixth and seventh gym leader also idk why u didnt accept moves that supposedly strong af, like all ur pokemon only have 1 moves for each of its original type and the moves u keep was ‘weak’, 1 ex where’s my man manectric ‘thunder’ 😭 Sry cant help, im salty n tilted

Roxanne and Brawly got me and treecko struggle a bit
The third gym was fine
Easily beat Flannery with Pelliper
Beat Norman barely with using yawn
Killed Altaria with Pelliper
Double-Slaps Tate n' Liza
Kingdra was HORRIFYING
Sydney was easy
Phoebe was annoying
Glacia ? (i think) was easy
Drake got Ice-Beamed
And i went through a lot of resets against Wallace
Tate:lisa..we are twins!only closer...
Lisa:AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game it's awesome and fun too
Good old memories 😪
They say that Winona’s ace is Altaria.
HOWEVER I DISAGREE!!!
Her ace is Skarmory
PS I grew up on Emerald.
I skipped her and came back with a level 50 Salamence...
I use a Skarmory on my team
Have Mariruri/Azumarill with Ice Beam.
even as i grew up, norman is still challenging
you cant apply status to spinda or it's stab boosted facade will crush you
vigoroth slash is devastating
if you dont kill and outspeed linoone in 1 hit it'll sweep your team with belly drum
same goes for slaking. if you dont kill it in 1 go you'll get devastated by counter. yawn forces switch outs or you'll get put to sleep, then applying status on it would result in a devastating facade
just learn protect :)
You can use Yamirami/Sableye, but Sneak Attack/Feint Attack will only hit the Pokémon.
I love how there’s literally 1 dislike
Then it got twelve more :/
I like brawly the best plus my favorite type is fighting
Hoenn, the Best ! No ?
As far as i say the best game by gameplay and area wise is pokemon black/white
Paldea:
@@gorillagamer1392 BAHAHA
Yeah
It rly annoyed me how you kept using wing attack on skarmory when you legit had water gun
Flannery is the best waifu
1:23 that's a lot of damage
Treecko be T-posing 😂
The BEST music
Grovyle looks like a shiny in Emerald !
That kingdra clapped my whole team 😭😭
Too bad i actually never actually played a gen 3 game :(
You should. It's an amazing game
Mixeli Yeah i love the Gen 3 Pokemons. They’re like my favorite out of all of the other generations
Use emulators, Pokémon games runs even on a fridge xD (not sayin they're bad, they are just very light games)
antoineelcrak :D wow didnt even think of that but thanks :)
@@Swanified16 uhhh well they're VERY light until gen 4/5, then they become like 100-200 mb
Is someone not going to mention that Brawly literally looks like Broly from DBZ?
Juan is Wallace's master.
Really
@@arslaanpasha3334 yes
Yo dude it’s Chmly
Juan is like “why hello there”
I cant decide between Norman,Brawly, and Wallace
Treecko: T-Poser before it was cool
Am I the only one who thinks that Wattson looks like uncle iroh from atla
In my nuzlocke altaria stacking up dragon dances was scary as fuck
Roxanne and Brawly were really hard for me in my playthrough I’m doing right now. Maybe I’m just bad.
Nah that’s not it
starter?
xyzzy51273
treecko. I didn’t train the rest of my team up very much though, so once treecko fainted it was all over. Ive beaten them now though and I’ve made sure my team is trained for wattson
@Nick Cruz That's a pretty terrible moveset, not really worth holding off evolving until level 26
@Nick Cruz one STAB move is enough, but I wish Sceptile had a better moveset
@Nick Cruz Yet Swampert and Blaziken can have movesets
Esto me trae muchos recuerdos
Shedinja is the best way of beating Juan's Kingdra
@Nick Cruz I am too lazy to grind like that
I just leech seeded the thing and kept stalling it.
Nice bro
well i had trouble with norman even tho I had 4 badges he just wont fight me
In Oras Norman was bull s**t op like I lost to him 5 times
Lol hes ez as fuck just pick blaziken
Oras is easy as fuck
Let's have a battle shall we?
nostalgic
where are the second gym battles
Make more moves video.
Grovyle defeated Normans last 3 Pokemon with 11 HP !
Overgrow
@@gorillagamer1392 yep and I saw it 1 year ago and now I just watched it again yesterday
Starter Pokémon up their STAB moves when under low HP as their Abilities.
@@LuigiTheMetal64 True. Because of Grovyle’s Overgrow
Why is milotic not his opponent in the 8th badge
That is Mikuri/Wallace's Pokémon. He is the Champion instead of Daigo/Steven.
My fav gym leader is winnoa
i just wanna know what’s the purpose of some stupid moves u did for nothing… is it genuinely purpose for dumbsake or u just didnt know, like on sixth and seventh gym leader
also idk why u didnt accept moves that supposedly strong af, like all ur pokemon only have 1 moves for each of its original type and the moves u keep was ‘weak’, 1 ex where’s my man manectric ‘thunder’ 😭
Sry cant help, im salty n tilted
Kreeeeeeeeeah
I'm suprised Flannery didn't spam Overheat.
I am surprised her two Pokémon can use Meromero, making her two Pokémon Akane's Miltank. Thankfully, if you have female Pokémon, you should be fine.
