@@astrowolvez this is something I found from 1997. During the next holiday season, Annabelle’s Wish, a home video release, will help answer the wishes of sick children throughout the U.S. Ralph Edwards Films, producer of the animated video, and Hallmark Home Entertainment, distributor of the title, are partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fund the 100 wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. Consumer advertising and licensing and promotional tie-ins will support the effort. Annabelle’s Wish tells the story of a calf named Annabelle who wishes to bring happiness to the boy who cares for her. The home video will be available for sell-through in late October.
I find it just as funny that it took her lawyer a whole year to find a part of Billy's custody case she could exploit. That's the reason I always assumed for why she's not heard from during that time skip.
As a kid, I wondered why old Annabelle ran away, but then I read about how some animals and pets run away when they know they are sick or are about to die.
That makes the ending more bittersweet to tell you the truth. She spent her whole life happily with Billy, and then she essentially ascends into heaven, finally fulfilling her dream of flying…Excuse me while I cry my eyes out. 😭
Okay. I've never seen this movie in my life, and it somehow made me cry like a baby. Seeing Annabelle literally living her whole life to the very end, not wasting another thought about her personal dreams and having a fulfilling life by making someone else happy, that just got me. It reminded me of the dog that raised me. Being the dog of my mother, she was 1y.o. when I was born, and she basically adopted me so that I had two mothers. This helped me very much while growing up. It made me appreciate animals more, I had someone to go to whenever human problems became too much and I had someone who never left my side. I was in my mid-teens when she passed away by my side. I think it may be better that I only now see it as an adult. As a child I didn't really grasp the concept of death, and what it means to live a fulfilling life. I think I wouldn't have understood the ending of the movie like I do now. I adopted a dog myself this christmas by the way.
My grandparents had this on vhs when I was a kid and I would always watch it when I came over. A week or so after my grandmother passed when I was in highschool I received it in the mail with a note saying she wanted me to have it because she knew I loved it as a kid.
The same thing happened with my grandmother. She introduced me to Abbot and Costello, she had a special VHS set, and I would watch them all the time, especially Jack and the beanstalk. When she passed, my aunt was at the house when they were dividing her assets and she grabbed them for me. I still have them to this day even though I don’t have a player to watch them on. I did get a dvd version of Jack though ❤🥹
The 90s had some really good Christmas specials that no one really talks about. Another one I enjoyed was The Town Santa Forget. What makes this short special is it's ALL in rhyme.

I know, for me, it reminds me of being like around 8-9 years old and sitting down to watch this VHS for the first time right before we left for my grandmother's house in Arkansas for Christmas. Where I was mentally at that time as a person. That feeling of excitement each year after until, eventually, VHS got phased out and I couldn't watch this cute little short unless it played on TV for the holidays. I never realized it when I was a kid, but they took a calf that was like one day old, not even close to weaned off its mother. That costs a lot to take care of if you have no other cows. And he took her for fence damage money?
Yeah, not sure there's any way to salvage that if you did a rewrite. Make it more about Billy and Annabelle and at best, put her in danger or have a timeskip of more than a year. The Holders being implied to have lost the mother really should've been emphasized more as well, for empathy
@@Shastasnow They do seem to be poorer and lacking in means than even Grandpa somehow, but both of them did lose loved ones: Grandpa just got more based on a life insurance policy or such, if I had to speculate
The main reason I remember this movie is because at some point, one of the bully kids says something like… “move! you stupid cow!”. That happened while our mother was cleaning the house, not paying attention to the movie, and I suppose the kid sounded like my big brother because she got super mad and started scolding him, like she was truly offended, she almost took the mop and cleaned his mouth right then. Of course we had to tell her it was the movie. 😅
The aunt wanted Billy so she could have 'picture perfect Christmas' but if that's like...the only reason why ask for full custody? why not just...invite him over for that day? It would suit her purpose...and she wouldn't have the responsibilty of taking care of the kid full time every day....I mean she clearly didn't want him before that...I'm guessing for that very reason. This movie is nice, it's just...I don't feel like the aunt is neccessary for the conflict in this. especially as we have another antagonist in that other farmer dude....
Heck, the farmer could be involved, but he has potential that was wasted here, with losing his wife according to the sheriff. But BIlly's trauma is criminally lacking in actually being addressed
@@astrowolvez in that one scene where she looks at his photo she says "perfect Christimas, something is missing! a child!" which is why I roll my eyes at her as the threat and source of drama because it's just too much. Here's the thing. It looks absolutely fucking ridiculous until you realize that there are literal people that will do this. And a lot of them get away with it every day. It's an actual problem.
Am I the only person who recognized that she is old as eff? Like she most likely wanted full custody of Billy. In the end contract she specifically said she had the contract state she'd have full custody and was confident that it'd be "Tight as a drum". I don't think she was evil, she probably just missed out on having kids of her own or couldn't have any to begin with. As for not hanging about the farm? I felt she had some resentment towards the farm itself...that is where Billy's parents lived and died and where Billy lost his voice. I never saw her as a true Antagonist. This movie in fact never needed a big bad. In life we don't always have a big bad..that's what makes this movie special. It showed events that could happen. For instance, my sister lost custody to my niece before and she resented having to give up company to one of our aunts at the time. This movie was just really real for a cartoon vs something like 101 dalmations
I gotta say, i can\t imagine a better ending for a story like this. It was so wholesome and adorable. Heres to Annabelle not forgetting to greet Billy every christmas when they stop by.
I wish they made Annabelle a little bigger when she’s a yearling. And her voice a little older. I just an assume a yearling calf would be the equivalent of a kid 11-14.
I used to watch this every year during the Christmas season when I was little! I still love it for what memories it gives me. It’s nice to see others enjoy it too.
I watched that movie last Christmas and the Christmas before that and I think it is a very wholesome Christmas movie. I think the parts I like are how people have been willing to sacrifice what they valued most in order to help those they cared about. How the Grandfather had to trade his late Daughter's Music Box to buy back the calf, how the calf gave up her dream to fly Santa's sleigh along with her voice so the mute kid could finally be able to talk, very wholesome stuff. I also loved the country-themed soundtrack.
This movie was such a big part of my and my brothers’ childhoods. It was very important to one of my brothers who is autistic and can’t always put into words what he wants. I guess he always saw himself in Billy.
Why does every movie need to have some crazy high stakes? I loved the movie as a kid because it was about real life situations that can feel big. The aunt never came across as nefarious, she simply felt having a kid around Christmas time is what she felt was lacking. Given her age in the cartoon, she might have never been able to have kids on her own now looking back or missed out due to being so focused on her career. I know the Grandpa doesn't really like her, but now as an adult I can sympathize since now I understand that family members grow apart for one reason or another. It seemed to me that the Aunt hated Country life, maybe she blamed the farm for killing her sibling off in the barn and for the loss of Billy's voice. Sure, they could have delved into this a little bit, but facts are that even cartoon characters might have some deeper inner lives that are more hinted at. Not all movies have to have some big bad. This was that kind of movie. It was comforting and it's profits went to a very good cause. It was also lovingly made by people who loved the story themselves. I mean, just look at the cast. If they didn't believe this would be a movie loved by generations to come, do you think they would have put as much heart into this as they did??
Glad you reviewed this. It was one of my favorites, its choppy but its cute. (Also noticed that Annabelle was just born and shouldn't have been taken away from her Mother that soon.).

Oh man! I remember watching this movie at the church my mom worked at. She was a preschool teacher at a church that was also a school, but she only worked their for about a year or two. My sister and I had to come sit her in the early morning, and she would let us watch whatever movies the church/school had. ‘Annabelle’s Wish’ was one of them and I remember loving it.

Oh this film, never fails to make me cry 😭 everything about it is so so sweet 🥹 ❤ I hope you guys react to the animated 1998 Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie at some point!
I think it would have been more compelling if the aunt legitimately wanted him, maybe she didn’t want him at first cause she was young and could possibly do it. But now that she has made herself successful in the city she tries to take Billy home thinking it would be the best for him.
The film didn't need an antagonist, let alone a cartoonish villain like Edna. If it had been more about Billy's trauma and friendship with Annabelle leading into the altruism and Christmas wish sacrifice, it could've done well
I complete forgot about this movie until now! I remember watching this as a kid on VHS and I remember loving it. It's so weird to see it again in my thirties.
I googled it and I’m actually surprised that the dog is NOT voiced by Frank Welker. (I mean the dog before he starts speaking English lol ) Dude has voiced pretty much every cartoon dog for decades (and a lot of other animals). He’s good at animal sounds. He’s currently voices Scooby.

Great to see it again after all this time. 😊
I saw this movie once over 20 years ago, yet the "Kaka" line has always stuck with me
26:56 “What you doing Billy? Want to see what I got for Christmas?”
“No…Noooooooo!”
Wow, I literally had no memory of this movie until I started this video and now I'm remembering a bunch of little moments from it just a few minutes in.
Randy Travis is one of the greatest Country singers ever.
Wtffff this movie got in my feels bro. It pulled the hell out of my heart strings!! Ugh and they showed the orchestra in the behind the scenes and now I really miss playing with my highschool class.
Yuuup I loved this movie as a kid. I vividly remember my vhs tape of it
this is my all time favorite comfort movie this time of year. Im so glad other people are talking about it and remember it fondly as well.
this was one of my fav childhood movies !! still have it on vhs to this day !!
Omg I loved this as a kid XD
You should do the animated Rudolph the red nosed reindeer next lol
Awwww this was my childhood movie my grandmother and I used to watch this all the time when she was babysitting me. Sadly I don’t remember what happened to the vhs tape but it’s such a sweet underrated movie I try to recommend it to people who are wanting to watch a good Christmas movie. Now I just watch it around the holidays with my grandma or by myself.
I remember this Movie, my grandmother had a CD collection of a bunch of different Christmas movies that my sister had I would watch any time of the year, this was one of them ❤
I would watch this movie all the time as a kid. I always cried at the end!
The songs from this movie are still great. I love listening to them even to this day.
This movie was my everything when I was little!
I had this movie as a kid!
This brought back so many nostalgic memories for me! I used to watch this movie every time I visited my grandparents' house as a kid, and have always loved it.
Dang, haven’t seen this in years! Nostalgia was a slap in the face 😂😂😂
Omg! This was my fav movie as a kid! I ended up naming my first dog my grandma got for me after the cow.
This is my favorite Christmas movie.
I saw this movie for xmas this year, first time in many years. I love it and it feels like something Dolly Parton would make lol
Oh my gosh I loved this movie as a kid! I remember Cartoon Network would play it every year.
I'm so happy! This is my favorite Christmas special. Totally underrated. I hope this video will give it the attention it deserves. ❤💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚
But hopefully not TOO much attention. We don’t want another “Christmas Story” scenario. Lol
@@jonathanwallis3300 Fair enough. XD
I used to watch this all the time when I was super super young, like I almost wondered if I dreamt it. So glad you guys brought this back into my orbit
I can see it as Annabelle died but moved on to a new life after living out her dream.
This, and the Barney movie, were two kids tapes my grandma had, so I'd end up watching it whenever I went to her house as a kid.
I used to have the VHS of this movie as a kid and I watched it non-stop, was my favourite Christmas movie for sure! lol I have selective mutism and it's the first time I ever saw anything like that in media, helped me a lot to feel more 'normal' as a kid :)
This was one of my favorites growing up! My sisters and I would watch it all year long, not just at Christmas 😅
Me and my grandpop's favorite movie
I always loved watching that movie, I'm used to watch it in french though.
Lots of happy memories :)
This used to be my sister’s favorite movie. We would watch it every Christmas.

Such a good movie. From the moment they showed Annabelle old I was ugly crying.

Christmas memories and then wonderful
Christmas messages from billy
It’s what we believe of always ages

And my hope Annabel’s wish
Will gave the children of all ages
To make them believe for generations to come 😊
42:04 get them Annabelle 😊 get them get them

It's still Kath Soucie voicing Annabelle at the end, oddly enough
I agree
Watching ur videos are always the highlight of my day :3
"They both have red hair so I just assumed" Well shit, you're in for an awkward ending then.
I remember seeing this movie twice as a kid, but I had a book adaptation which I read often. (Man it skimps so many details this stream felt like watching it again for the first time). But it was such a fun story growing up.
I love this movie so much.
I loved that show back in the 90's
Thankful for y’all. Very sweet
