Remote Tuning a Cammed SS Commodore LS1 - Does it work?

- Full mechanical rebuild is now complete on my LS1 SS Commodore. With a big cam and other power mods, it's time to get it tuned. Should I run it on the dyno? Or should I do a remote tune using an Autocal V3? Why don't I just buy a mail order plug & play tune? Check out this video for different LS1 tuning options and see what a difference a tune makes! (Spoiler alert: it's amazing!)

absolute credit to you, had my VZ SS for 16years just cant bring myself to sell it, thinking about rebuild with similar setup, great job.
Thank you mate. 16 years ownership is very impressive!
im the same also..17yrs,cant sell her...love it too much...but....ohhh the pain....genuine parts near impossible...Good-Luck.
Cheers brother
Enjoying your videos mate, impressive results and can always run it down the drag strip to gauge performance.
I had my VU SS dyno tuned but have considering using a product like this to optimise / correct the tune for changes I’ve made since.
Thanks mate. Being productive and having fun along the way. 🤙
Remote tune allows you to tweak and update indefinitely. Great if you continue to tweak and mod your car.
Really enjoying the X po po videos… Do you still have it & anymore updates?
Nice work, awesome ride
Great videos, mate!
Been watching over a few of your recent series.
Definitely looking forward to the paint and panel 🤙🏻
Keep it up mate 👍🏻
Careful, they’re addictive😂👌
I think your startup / idle problem is all about your throttle position sensor. Pretty sure from memory theres some process for intitiating this procedure holding the mode and up button on the trip meter buttons with the reds on . Don't quote me but I'm sure youll find something online... been like 10 yrs since i did it.
Checked it today. Voltage readings are spot on.
No when you upgrade your stock cam for a large cam the car wont idle till its tuned in an auto, it has nothing to do with TPS, bigger cam needs more air/fuel. and higher idle I run a Crow cams 229/235 in my LS1 and it likes to idle at 900rpms.
hey Grouse
I have the same VX vic popo !
want to do exactly what you have done
how much did it cost you to rebuild motor & trans ?
mines got 190ks on it & its a bit tired , cld use a freshen up
Good question. A few people have asked. I dumped everything into a spreadsheet and this is how it comes out :O
Engine parts (no labour): $5124.31. Transmission parts (no labour): $3303.19.
Most dyno tuners don’t run them flat out if it’s just been rebuilt for the first time. They say drive it for about 500ks then you take it back and they do the proper tune
true that, was surprised at the hesitancy.
Nothing wrong with Dyno’s and fresh engine if you talked to a tuner I’m sure they would have addressed your concerns of a fresh engine like doing a run in tune and even set a rpm limit so no one gets carried away would have also addressed your starting and stalling issues, and a dyno tube is much safer then a mail order tune which you choose as it technically is. Plus many more benefits.
Have to say you’ve done really well doing this all by yourself definitely something to be proud of!
Thanks mate. Fair advice. If I had a trailer and tow vehicle I would have considered a dyno tune more closely.
Can you help me please where did you get your tune from thank you for your help

Great video,What was the cost of doing the tune this way all up.
This will be in my next video, which will be a price reveal for everything. Keep an eye out for that.
Great video. Can I ask who is your tuner?
how much did it cost?
Going to do a price reveal video for this project and I will include the cost of everything in that.
