Hi Rob, Thanks for the review of the sarx033 - I was wearing the exact same watch whilst watching your review. The sarx033 is a gorgeous piece and worth every penny. I own a sarb033 and this is about 2.8cms smaller and ii is a great watch, but the sarx033, particularly with that wonderful bracelet (the same as many Grand Seiko I have discovered after recently visiting a Grand Seiko AD in the UK) is a higher quality. The sarx is coated as you mention, but I also think it has a diashield coating too, as it is very scratch resistant. Cheers Noel

Also meant to say Rob that the Sapphire crystal is also coated with something on the outside that makes the crystal smudge and mark free, like no other watch I own - brilliant!
3:47 I always see flaws in the watch in everyone's review and on this watch the 10 O'clock applied indice doesn't line up with the marker on the chapter ring.

No, im sorry it isnt. It is a 550 to 600 dollar watch. I owned one, I would never pay a grand for that timepiece. Im sure it looks good on your wrist, but most people arent going to get gouged for a grand.
@@tombryan1 I have the SARB035 and the SARX033 also, and the SARX is easily worth 4 times the price of the SARB (I paid 2.5x the price for the SARX). Easily worth it, even with the same movement. If you want this grade finishing, you will have to pay for it. Doesn't matter if Swiss, German or Japanese watch brand. BTW both watches run perfectly well within COSC superlative parameters.
The bracelet is nice and all... But I put it on Two-Stitch Honey Leather strap... incredible presence. Try a nice light brown strap, the gorgeous shape of the case and high quality finishing comes to life.

Before discontinuing their best selling models like the sarbs and 2nd gen monsters, no one ever questioned the value/price factor. Now, there's a lot of discussion whether a watch is worth the amount they charge. Never a good thing. Sarbs for $325 and $200 monsters were Seiko's bread and butter. They went downhill in the past 3 years or so.
So let me get this straight. Seikos were considered under priced and great value and now that they are priced higher they aren't worth it? I'm not gonna get upset that my sarb will sell higher used then what I paid for it..
@@tballz4350 they're priced higher because the models were discontinued and, in the case of the SARB065, were replaced with somewhat inferior models (with the 4r36) or newer models were made with higher prices (think of the gen 3 monsters made to replace the previous gens). Several other models such as the SARB017, 033, 035 etc haven't had a replacement yet so the current ones are going up in value. The mid range priced JDM Seikos are now disappearing and being replaced with watches either above or below the price point.
For folks info, your mate Bruce did a great piece a while back called baby grand seiko battle or something similar. Well worth checking out. Ps great stuff
That coating is supposed to reduce scratches. That’s why it’s on the Ti so often, it scratches so easily. Hey one request...when you say “such and such FOR THE PRICE..”, please say the price. Especially for Seiko, where everything is discontinued, marked up double by resellers.
At 40,5 this would still be ok for me, the sarb035 at 38 mm is too small for me. I have the srpb69J1 at 41mm and around 300 usd, which I think is a cheaper alternative for this but definitely the sarx033 is higher quality and worth the price, especially the bracelet and clasp, dials are quite similar, except the srpb69j1 has the day window and the indexes aren't as pronounced. Anyway, just throwing srpb69j1 out there as an alternative for people interest in this style but don''t want to spend the $700 for this.

Great review of a very clean looking Seiko. On this style watch the white dial works really well.

Yeah, the crystal is lovely on this (which I also own). My Grand Seiko smudges so easily, I don't know why it doesn't have the same coating.

I love the simple Automatic text. I hate the new PRESAGE text they put on all the new ones. Too bad these are being phased out.

The Sarx line are all amazing watches, but no micro adjustment in their bracelets. It's so annoying, when you have smaller wrist.

7.25” wrist size. Not sure on the flat part of my wrist.
$1000 for a 6R and it isnt even decorated. I highly doubt this watch is worth 3 to 4 times what a Sarb costs.
Hong Situ the point is watches with even worse movement and finish are sellimg for 3 grand.
