- So, one of the biggest treats for me having this channel is getting people into watches. And out of all the people that was the greatest pleasure to share this hobby with was my brother. Who recently started getting into watches more and has a growing collection after I gave him my old Orient Bambino a couple years ago. Of that collection, this one of the standouts and before he moves to Denver, I had to get in a review of this beautiful piece.

Spoken like a true watch fanatic: “My brother’s going to be moving away, so before he goes I wanted to spend some more time with his watch.”
It is a really nice watch!
Relatable
You got me into watches in a more serious way Teddy. Thanks for all your consistent work! I’ll have to meet you during my travels some day!
Would love to meet David! Btw go Browns ;)
Hey Teddy, Where are you in Cle? I'm in Canton, Oh and may stop up in the area during holiday shopping time.
I owned both the SARX033 & 35. Fit and finish are on another level and more superior than the Sarb. 100% worth the additional $. I sold them during a purge of my collection and miss them both. I want them back so I just ordered both watches online last night. You won't be disappointed. Btw, the watch wears well on my 6.5 inch wrist. Well done Teddy. 👊
Very good video. Very well done. After 25 years collecting watches I can honestly say that Seiko makes fantastic watches. I wish Seiko would include a screwdown crown in this model.
Teddy dude, thank you for getting me into watches! Thanks to you I'm getting super into Seiko watches now. Keep the content coming
Excellent video. If it was 38mm as the SARB035 it could be called a a replacement, but I feel the size is a missed opportunity
If people are considering this watch, I'd also recommend the SARX055. It has a frosted/textured dial instead of a creamy white one, and has polished white hour and minutes hands, but keeps the blue seconds hand. Absolutely gorgeous watch, and can be had for right around the same price quoted as the SARX033
Mine is arriving Monday and I am pumped.
@@lGAUGEl Awesome, it's a brilliant watch even now
Great vid! I'm still torn between this one and the sarx035 lol. I wish your brother the best on his journey!
I'm making my way through your backlog of videos and loved this as well as reading your blog on the top 40 Seiko watches. I'd love to see a SARX055 review after your great write up on it in the blog post.
I've owned many Seiko watches since my first Seiko Pogue in 1976. This SARX033 is probably one of the classiest Seikos I've seen for a while. Seiko watches provide awesome bang for the price.
SARB 033 for me. That small splash of lume really helps visibility during the evening hours!
Your vids are awesome 👏
thats the biggest thing for me. i really wish the sarx had lume!!!!
Picked up a presage SPRC97J1 yesterday with the snowflake dial. I’m in love with it
Greatest watch ever made. I had it too
Fantastic choice! Enjoy it Ross!
Oh my god I need that watch. Thanks for putting this on my radar!
Where did you purchase it from? And what did you end up paying? I’ve been looking for that exact mode
I own a sarx035. They are next-level. They are have an anti-reflective sapphire so the dial looks very inky black at almost all times. The polished markers really stand out on that dial as well. And the bracelet is diashield coated so less worry of it being scratched.
Also, one huge thing to note about the bracelet is that no other clasp sits as flush as the one on this one does. There’s no bump on it. It just looks very well-integrated.
At the end of the bracelet, it has a small piece that you can add or remove it.
Near the clasp
Im getting into watches and planning to purchase a Bambino next month. Thanks for the recommendations Teddy!
Wait for my next review. Might give you something else to consider.
Teddy Baldassarre I just saw the video review for the Maestro and this comment. Thanks for the reply Teddy! As much as both the Bambino Ver 2 Gen 2 and Maestro are beautiful and stunning in their own way I've been taken in by the blue dial Open Heart Bambino. I get the feeling that I've embarked on a very expensive hobby 😅
I went to Japan in Dec 2018, In the BIC Camera department store I held the SARB035 and the SARX033 in my hands and walked away with the SARX033. It was an easy decision when you can see both in person.
Love the blue hands that stand out like that
The way they painted the hands is amazing!
I think they are heat treated like at grand seiko. Not sure about that though
@@Mike-LitorisSoBig They aren't heat treated
@@Mike-LitorisSoBig they are definitely not heat treated but nice try
@@steelsteez6118 nice try what?
@@steelsteez6118 they are most likely also not "painted" probably coated, but not "painted"
Bought a SARX 033 about 6 months ago and really like it. Also own the SARB 033 and agree that SARX is a significant step up in quality from the SARB, though both have to compete with my recent Explorer purchase for wrist time. Enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!
Have this watch for about 1 year. It will never leave my collection. I also have the SARB035, which is loved but not worn enough by my wife, because she fears she could damage it somehow :D
The SARX033 *POPS* on a honey leather strap with blacked flanks.
A truly fantastic watch seem to remember now your brother had one. I own a SARB035 but I would gladly trade up to this SARX plus it would fit me better than the 38mm. Those blue hands on the white dial really push my buttons and not been able to stretch to a GS yet this would make perfect sense. Good review Teddy though no clasp shots.
Started searching for my first automatic watch and have been watching your videos and subscribed, now I’m having a harder time deciding since I have been loving so many different brands and styles!
Its a superior watch no question. Just wish it was a 38mm.
I owned both the Sarx033 and Sarx035. I also owned the and the Sarb033 for a short while. The Sarx is on a much superior level compared to the Sarb. If anyone is on the fence...you won't be disappointed. Great video.
RetroWeld In what ways are the Sarx superior to the Sarb?
The Sarx at 40.8 mm is too big for smaller men. The Sarb at 38 mm looks better.
@@veetour The Sarx has the zaratsu polishing, same method of polishing on the Grand Seikos, although some would argue not quite to the level of the GS but still superior to the sarbs standard polish. However, everything else seems to be at around equal quality to the Sarb, including the same movement.
There is a big difference in quality and size of the SARB vs SARX when comparing in person. I think the SARB watches look too small on wrists over 7". Diashield coating is added to the SARX bracelets, plus an antireflective coating on the sapphire, which makes the SARX035 dial inky black from all angles.
i like the reviews with soothing background music format
It reminds me of the Omega Aqua Terra. This is a great Seiko watch and one of Seiko's best models.
Great review. Love my SARB033 runs about 5 seconds fast a day.
The sarb033 is a great choice as well. Those 6r15 movements are always over performers
Yes they are.
Great video Teddy! I personally own a SARB035, and while I love the SARX033, the fact that you can buy Strapcode bracelets for the SARB makes it a potentially better buy if you have trouble getting Seiko Presage bracelets to fit you right.
I know someone who invested in a lovely Macro lens! You are playing on the level from Watchfinder man !
Good vid!, I like how you mentioned keeping better time than specs, a lot of reviews don't do accuracy., especially Seikos.
I've been watching your channel for a while now, but didn't know you're in Cleveland. I'm originally from there. In Nashville now. Go Browns!!!!
I have the sarb 033 and this sarx, i freakin love the sarx its so fucking beautiful. One of my all time favorite watches. I love my sarb but if i had to give one up it wouldnt be the sarx thats for sure.
4:31 - whats up with the printing on that date wheel ?
Thought I was the only one that saw that
Seiko have a really amazing minimalist line up. Imo the simpler the watch the better and Seiko rock simple lol.
The SARX series is breathtaking. Especially the 035 is very nice. It's hard to describe its elegance until you actually hold one. Looks simple, but there is so much going on.
Great watch , great review. I’m a fan of both
Great review teddy, I do think its a better looking than a sarb. however it seems the sarb is the only watch with similar aesthetics that has smaller dimensions than 40mm . most 40mm watches dont look great on me wrist
Beautiful piece reminds me of the GS snowflake!
Oh my, what's going on with that chapter ring? At 4:43 you can see the printed sub-second indices are really badly misaligned with the printed second/minute indices, which in turn are quite badly misaligned with the applied hour indices on the dial :(
I have the Sarb 033 and it’s the perfect size and I have a large wrist. I do believe the tendency for sub 40mm watches is the way to go.
I have the sarb033 as well and I’m currently looking at the sarx029
Another good video Teddy.
I’m used to Seiko’s chapter rings not being aligned to the dial...but I’ve never noticed one before which doesn’t even align to *itself*. (4:43) Anyone know if this is a common problem?
Great video, Teddy. As long as your brother remains a Browns fan, it’s all good.
Looks fantastic but I can't get over the printing of the chapter ring at 4:42. It clearly isn't symmetrical at the 12 o'clock and the chapter ring itself isn't aligned with the 12 o'clock indice. I love Seiko and own both a Sarb033 and 035 but I expected better QC moving up the ladder. Shame. I still might pick one up though.
4:22 Crooked date wheel would drive me nuts
4:43 Applied indices do not align with the painted marker on top
to help with our ocd
not to mention the blotchy numerals
Cant beat that 38 mm size, for us small wrist guys at least 😂. Anyways love my Sarb033
Joseph Yi yeah boi!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Alot of bang for your buck!
Funny thing is... now I'm buying the 44mm seiko samurai great white shark because I love the design so much 🤷♂️
38mm is the sweet spot
@LION KING And here I am with a 5.7 inch trying to find something that will also give me a sleek and classy look :(
Nice watch 👍 bracelet looks great and the whole package seems great.
4:12 What a beautiful shot...
I owned this watch. The hands are thermally blued and amazing. The bracelet is really, really good. This watch would be two grand if it were made in Switzerland. I cannot recommend it enough. Those with big wrists (mine are 8"), you might need extra links so choose a good dealer. Long Island Watch is the best, but they are pulling all JDM's in a few days. I like SeiyaJapan for all my JDM's, although I am selling now as I am unemployed.
I cannot recommend this watch enough. I would also recommend any of the enamel-dial Presage watches.
How much you want for your watch?
Hey my pal Martin Franks just turned me on to your channel. LOVE IT!!!
Such an elegant piece!
Sarx015 is my dream Sarx. A bit sportier of a case shape than other sarbs and sarys of the world, and it has lume! Sadly it is discontinued and not widely available. Love my sary057 though. The substantially curved lugs makes it stand a bit out, and wear like a dream.
OES 25 I’m a huge fan of my SARY057. I beat the hell out of it bartending and it’s still my most accurate watch despite owning an Orient Star, a Tissot, and a Mido Ocean Star
If you've never been, you'll for SURE enjoy visiting your brother in Denver. It's beautiful there! See if you can get in a SARX055 : I handled one at an enthusiast GTG and was super impressed with it - almost as pleasant as the Globemaster and way more affordable.
It’s time for another state of the collection!
Nothing really to add. My collection is honestly worse 😂
Hey Teddy, slightly off topic mate but I just had to say what awesome hair you've got! So jealous!
I have the black dial sarx and I really enjoy it- high quality and looks
Another great review. I have a SARB035 and this is clearly a step above in terms of all the things you've mentioned. For me it is worth the additional price of admission, in particular the more intricate, dressier bracelet. I'd love to add one to the collection - tbh swaying more towards a dark dial SARX variant so that it won't cannibalise the SARB035 wrist time! One question: is the bracelet clasp better finished than the SARB's? I quite like the milled, tapered surface on the underside of the clasp where it touches the wrist on my Premier Perpetual.
Much better clasp than the SARB035. I have both.
Love your content, probably my favourite for learning about watches 👍 what do think of the seiko coutura line ?
6:49 brooo did you speed this up to 5x?? 🤣🤣
2.8mm may not sound like a lot... But it is. I'll be staying with my beloved sarb.
I agree with you. I'm sticking with my Sarb 33 & 35
Awesome review. I would have liked some shots of the bracelet. You talked so much about it but there were no shots of it or the clasp. Thanks
Het Teddy! Thanks to you I got into watches a lot more, so first: thank you.
My problem is that I don’t really know where to buy watches online at good prices (I’m on a budget).
Could you make a video on your favorite/most reliable watch retailers online? Would be best if they ship worldwide!
Keep up the good work!
Hi Las, if for Seiko, i think Seiyajapan.com is the best, good price and good service. For others, i suggest jomashop.
Thanks a lot for all the great content, Teddy! I love your channel!
I am looking for an everyday watch (from casual to business casual) and I am considering buying either the SARX045 ($550) or the SARX035 ($750). Which one do you think I should buy?
The SARX045 is probably a better deal but I am afraid that the lug to lug height of 48 mm might be too big for me. My wrist is just above 6 inches (15,5 cm). I have a Hamilton Khaki Field (38mm dial and 47mm lug to lug) which I think fits me well but it also already in the limits of my wrist. ..
The SARX035 has a more approachable lug to lug height, but I am not sure if it is worth the extra $200 and if the 41mm dial wouldn't look goofy on my wrist...
I can only find the SARB033 for over $700, so it is just not a good value proposition for me (even though I like the size more)
Thank you!
Nice editing on the video!
Thanks Ollie! I think we are improving!
Another great video. I must be in the minority that thinks these watches are boring as heck. They just don't do a single thing for me. Although I will say the quality looks superb.
Not in a minority. There is a reason MVMT is bought by Movado.
The Seiko SARV001 looks very similar to this watch, it's a JDM specific watch with similar white cream face, stainless case, but it can be had for $200 or less shipped from Japan to the US. It's also one of my most accurate watches.
does the braclet have diashield like the new Sharp Edge Series? They look IDENTICAL! And is diashield worth paying for, or a cheap way to increase price?
Before I had money I had a quartz Seiko that kept really good time. Because it was so cheap I beat the crap out of it until it broke; then I threw it away. A good, cheap watch for when I couldn’t afford anything else and just needed to know what time it is.
Loving my Sary055 and sarb033, ordered a new Strapcode bracelet for the sarb so it’ll fit better. I’ve had a Rolex owner look at my watch and told me he was jealous, looked much better in person and was considering buying one!
Really wanted this watch but as I was about to buy it full RRP, the sleazy salesman tried to simply box the exposed model which had small dents and scratches from people trying it on. Ended up getting an SKX because Seiko shopping in italy is stupid. At least I'm satisfied.
Two reviews for two days in a row??
You're on a roll brother!
Keep up the good work~
I was hoping you'd show it on a blue leather strap
Beautiful watch!
My collections are mostly divers and Seiko dress watches really caught my attention.
Does the date window match the dial colour?
Hi Teddy! I was wondering, if you have to choose between this Seiko sarx055 and the Ball fireman enterprise, which one would you choose? Hope you can help me
What leather strap would you recommend for a casio duro (mdv106-1a)?
Thanks Teddy! Im torn bettween this and the tissot gentleman. I have an SBDC063, and im not super thrilled with th 6r15. I like the looks of the sarx but the powermatic movement in the gentleman.
The SRPB69J1 (English and German day wheel) and the SRP527J1 (English and Kanji day wheel) are the "poor man's" versions of this at around $300-$400, though both since discontinued and hard to find.
I was seriously eyeing one of these before going with the Citizen Grand Signature with what i thought was a white dial, but is silver, i didn't notice because the way the light reflects off it in many pictures makes it look white, so I kinda wish I got the SARX instead.
Beautiful watch but I’m totally in love with the SARX035.
Thanks for the review of this and all of your informative videos, Teddy. I've been learning a lot about watches thanks to you. How would you compare this with the 045? Also does it wear smaller than the 045? Would love to know your thoughts on that. TIA.
Definitely prefer the sarb!
Could you make a review of the Tudor Black Bay 58? I've been researching on the watch, it being one of my grails, so I'd like to see a review from you and see some things that I might've missed.
And of course I need a white dialed watch that fits this category and a bigger stack of cash! 😜 Thanks for the video!
Can anyone tell me what type of pins are in the bracelet? is it a barrel and pin type?
I guess it's hard to tell if the two watches aren't in hand. But would it be a safe assumption to make that the build quality of the SARX is a bit more sturdy than the SARB?
Very helpful. Thanks!
i am torn between the sarx055 and the sarx033..... both look amazing
Which one you bought ?
@@igorz.3972 In the end I bought the sarx055, I like the textured dial and the lightness of the watch.
Good luck for your brother.
I have this watch but the black version I wear it pretty much every day and I’m a roofing company owner. I wear it like an explore it’s perfect for my life style and it doesn’t make me look rich in front of my customers it makes me look sensible but it’s a sharp looking watch not too dressy. Someone said that it’s a sporty dress watch or a dressy sport watch.
My wrist is 7.5 inches
next time please show also some shots with leather straps, so we can see how they look on it! Great video as usual
It's still beautiful with leather strap in a very different way, just guess, because i have a sarx035 =))
I like the low key style of this video. I also like watches with off white dials, so maybe that influenced me.
Teddy, what do you think about NH35 movement?
is this dial really white or cream/beige ?
Can you review tissot T927.407.41.031.00 new gentleman 2019?
Anyone know if the bracelet of this piece would fit on a sarb065? (and if it does how well does it fit)
Nice watch choice!
BTW, it's the 1st comment on this video.
So nice! And then notifications were a bit early. Very strange.
@@TeddyBaldassarre It was a great video, though I was expecting that you"ll showcase the watch W/ your straps, this watch is truly a strap monster.
Which watch looks better? This or the SARX055
"It looks really well." Was it sick?
