You are wrong, the grindcore is another form of violence more raw and dirty with voices more sick than dark angel .. the grindcore is noise even more hardcore punk and raw punk, instead Dark angel is more Death thrash, intense and fierce among other things , but definitely different from grindcore .... at least I don't compare bands of different styles, I prefer to be objective. Look for live presentations of these Grindcore bands, to notice even more the different way of sounding brutal ... -Napalm death (with lee dorrian) -Anal Cunt- Fear Of God -Agathocles
Seen dark angel live in Oakland CA. as well as Insect Warfare here in my hometown in Houston, inside a little record shop.. both bands and genres are stupid Raw and Extreme none disappoint.
I wish they had made it man...they would have eaten all of the big 4 alive. This band is FAR superior to all of them except for maybe Megadeth/Slayer. Had Death Angel and Dark Angel stayed around we would have had a very different landscape for thrash metal for sure. Glad to see both bands slowly make a come back. Death Angel has been doing a lot lately.
These guys are like hyper-speed thrash metal almost to the point of death metal. Kind of reminds me of how Sepultura blurred the lines between thrash and death on those first 3 or 4 records.
Now I know why I have arthritis in my neck!! I listened to speed and thrash metal all during the 80's!! Don't regret it for a minute!! Saw Dark Angel 3 times!
And as for metallica? They were Kings of metal back in the "80's But beginning with the black Album they became ALTERNICA. They became shit in every sense Of the word the that point on through to today.
@KissMeImPunk I think I can help you on the comment 21APAN. Doty was pretty thin (as was Drabos while we're at it) and not. Ron wasn't very tall (about 5'8" or 5'9") but was built like a tank. I remember meeting Gene years back & I knew he was a big dude but A LOT bigger than I expected. He's a legit 6'4" and close to 300 lbs (I wonder if he and Oakland Raider Robert Gallery were lost at birth).
