So, based on the before and after videos, there should be absolutely NO spark on the outside while cranking the engine over with the cap off? This is not my first problem with the distributor on this vehicle. Few years ago had to replace due to center bearing going out. I kept the old one since there was no core. I too now have misfire with no code. Thought this video was my answer after checking so many sensors and not finding a fault anywhere. Current coil had slight but still visible electricity between the coil and the housing-looked more like northern lights effect than a jumping spark. Coil from old distributor has spark but seems to be jumping up the outside of the tower to the pin. Your video after repair shows NO spark at all while cranking. Are both my coils bad?

I'm confused by the timing marks. Some manuals and forums say it's 0,5.10, -15- 20.25, and so on, but on yours, it looks so different. Is your quest balancer starting at -5, then "0"* 5, 10 I am very confused
I had a neighbor that would just wildly throw parts at a vehicle, even when I suggested a fix based on the clues presented. He hardly ever got the cars back together and running.
I've heard these have terrible engine mounts that need to be replaced frequently. Is it possible that the key shaking is from vibration caused by a bad engine mount? I have the same model as in this video and just got the P0325 and P0301 codes. Would bad mounts trigger those codes by any chance?
So basically if you take the distributor cap off for this vehicle and the spark arcs from inside the tower to the outside of it you have a bad distributor? Would this cause bad multiple misfire? My distributor didnt have cracks in it but it did have discoloration not severely though
My sincerally regards from Spain, I,m your big fan but if you solve so fast everything the customers think "thats to easy, for that we need to pay 200$??? Thats a robbery". What you think about that big problem? Its the reality with our customers , here ,in my place...thanks and best regards!!
had one with this exact problem i left the key on and was touching the distributor with the cap off on the housing and got zapped they tried starting it like you did and saw the crack in the coil
I have a nissan quest 2003 3.3 got a missfire on number 5 cyl. we have 180psi comp,also a new injector&plug wires new,still miss firing. I checked voltage for injector and we have 14.7 volts. put a noid light and blinks normal. oh and new spark plugs. Also did a smoke check for vacuum leaks and zero leaks. we are scratching our heads and cant seem to find problem. yes also we have replaced dist cap. please help us. maybe dist bad? any help would do us good..thanks..
+Charles Hidalgo - Remove sparkplug, add a good plug sealant as you are most likely leaking oil in the plug tube from the valve cover. The oil leaks down the threads of the plug and fouls the plug, which causes misfire.
identafix is not for newbies. there are a lot of test procedures and not a lot of precautions or warnings. so its not going to tell you if you miss-test a circuit that you can fry a computer. just fyi. let your technician take care of it for worry free fix.

I think somebody should have said that the reason for the cause of this problem is Warren spark plugs the Gap gets too big and it starts to make the coil and distributor work too hard so did you change the spark plugs I think you needed to check them you never did say anything about that hello

I'd say no. The code P0325 is related to - get this.. coolant and Knock Sensor throwing off the Electronic Control Unit- ECU.
My Villager ('98) had the same sort of problem. Turned out to be a bad plug wire. My distributer's slightly different than this one.
if you replace the dist on a nissan good change its a fix more dist problems than any other make

The spark plugs were worn and that's what caused this problem hello spark plugs did you check the plugs

I have found that 1 or more plug wires had high resistance after locating this crack

A piece of electrical tape will fix the old distributor and save you $400!
