    The 110 juniors do not use the Katsuage Outbarb hooks. Megabass America has told me that a good replacement for the 110 junior hooks are the Gamakatsu Treble Round Bend # 8 sized hooks as replacements. Just passing this along. Love your Megabass 110 videos!

    Good advice. I found out the hard way not to straighten a bent stock hook on the Vision 110, it broke quickly thereafter. Why not pick your favorite tackle retailer (that will pay you) and put a link to the hooks and such below the video. Nothing wrong with making money on your knowledge my fishing friend.

    Last question, I promise ;) What’s your thoughts to using the Owner Tear Drop split ring to connect your line to the bait rather than a traditional round split ring ?

    I really love Randy’s videos, but I think it’s Megabass sponsorship rose colored glasses when he talks about the megabass hooks. They are terrible hooks in my opinion. One caveat is that I fish mostly for large mouth bass so that may be why I get so many broken or bent out hooks. The vision 110 is my favorite, but I always change out the hooks.

    Hi Randy, I checked the Tackle Warehouse reviews on these hooks and a few people say they are brittle or break. Have you had any of them break or have you experienced any issues with them? Thanks

    Never considered the paint scheme/colors of the bait affecting the rise or fall of the bait. Great, now something else to consider. Tournament anglers I know use strictly the Gamakatsu G-finesse hooks on all of his crankbaits. So that makes sense if you were to change them to go to those. The stock hooks are razor sharp though, so I doubt I'd change them for fun fishing that I do.

    I'm in the minority that isn't a fan of that g finesse treble. Really liking the Clunn light wire kamakiri on the 110. One issue I am having with all trebles, even the stock trebles, is the center hook likes to swing up, rotate, and catch on the side of the bait. Any solution to this?

    Wow! This makes so much sense! I noticed that the Vision 110+2 deadly black Shad will not suspend in 60 degree water it sinks slowly and this is out of the package! It does have that Chrome finish and prob weighs more.

    Hey Randy. Do you recommend a shorter rod than a 6’10 or is that a good length and action? I’m a shorter guy around 5’4 and use a 6’6 medium baitcaster but i feel that it’s a bit stiffer possibly because of the shorter length. I have been thinking about switching to a spinning rod but unsure if I should upsize or stay 6’6 or shorter. With a baitcaster it’s hard to do downward snaps so I normally do sideways snaps. I feel even when I do cast with a spinning rod I get better action with side snaps.

    • @FishLubber
      @FishLubber 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a normal jerk bait rod of around 7 foot you should use medium light. You will have to use
      a softer rod so you don’t get your trouble hooks thrown if you go shorter on your rod.

    Also, dont trust stock hook sharpness and sharpen your hooks routinely while fishing. Just a little touch up every now and then. They need to be sharp enough that they set themselves a lot of the time. They need to pass the fingernail test at all times IMO.
