I tried this at it was AMAZING!!!!! I didn't have 2 separate pans so I put it all in 1 pan. It took slightly longer to bake but when it was done I sliced it halfway to make two equal parts and then spread the ganache between them. Really it was so good yumm!

just finished eating this whole cake with my family...OMG! i will never go back to box bought cake ( obviously!). Had a little trouble with my ganache, but some extra chocolate and some freezer time fixed that problem..... it was wonderful and delicious! a keeper!!

Laura , What an awesome recipe. I made the cake last night along with your eggs in purgatory recipe. The eggs in purgatory was a hit with the whole gang of six. I used a dozen eggs. We made Oreo instead of rice for the bed. Delicious!. Anyway, I put the cake in the fridge over night and my wife and I had a slice with coffee for breakfast. So awesome, not too sweet and very moist. I love your shows.

I just made it with some few changes and it turned out... AMAAAAZIIING. I made the original recipe but I cut in half the butter, added three egg whites and 2 yolks, just a cup of sugar, and instead of the heavy cream/chocolate, I used.... Nutella :D and between the two layers of cake (I baked one giant cake and cut in half afterwards) I spread nutella with bits of pineapples ! Mama mia it was oh my Jesus gooood ! And as a decoration, I put a batman logo on it made with powdered sugar ^^ the best chocolate cake ever. And we did hear the ANGELS SINGING ! Thanks Laura, you are the best. Love from France !
The technique for putting this together is very similar to one I use to make corn bread. But then my favorite is a chocolate bundt cake with chocolate ganache over it. Delicious!

Aah I would've loved to see you eat it Laura! And to see you cut into that gorgeous chocolate frosting! Now THAT would have been the money shot that could send anyone running to the kitchen to try making it! Sometimes you guys miss a moment that would've been the highlight of the video! Like the time when you made the honey mustard chicken, it would've been amazing to see your knife cut through the chicken so we know how moist it is. Or the time when you made tres leches cake, the point of the cake is its moist feature since it's soaked in variations of milk so it would've been awesome to see your fork cut through it and show how unbelievably moist it was. I've been a long time subbie so I say all this with love. Keep up the amazing work as usual Laura!

this cake is amazing! my batter was on the thick side but the cake was light and fluffy! The only thing I did differently is that i beat the frosting with my electric mixer and added about 2 tablespoons of sifted powder sugar because I thought the frosting was too thick and a little bit on the dark chocolate side. Next time I'm going to use milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
This might be my new go-to devil food cake, looks great and moist.
