I disagree with the number 1 pick. I think nobody beats any of Buster Keaton stunts. For the time he did all his stunts by himself without stunt doubles and not alot of money to do many remakes. He is unbeatable. Also the plane scene from Mission impossible was CGI. He had a green screen.

Related story: Hot Ones just published their episode with Jeremy Renner, where he recounts the MI: Ghost Protocol Burj Khalifa stunt. During and part of that stunt, Renner himself is hanging half-out of the window to catch Tom as he's swinging back in. Of course there's a safety rope to keep him in, but he still recalled being absolutely terrified just looking down at the sheer height to the ground, commenting that if the rope slipped, he'd have a long time to think about it (and shout a few choice words to Brad Bird and the production crew) on his way down. He even commented that it looked like the safety guy "didn't look that concerned" or something and he nearly called him out, telling him to "pay attention".

You could've included more Bond stunts like:
    - The Barrel roll from Casino Royale.
    - The Car chase or Helicopter jump from Tomorrow Never Dies.
    - The bungee jump from GoldenEye.
    - The pre-credit sequence from The Spy Who Loved Me.
    - The truck chase from Licence To Kill.
    - The boat jump from Live and Let Die.
    - The Jump from Man With The Golden Gun.
    - The parachute stunt from Moonraker.
    - The alley stunt from Diamond's Are Forever.
    - The Lake fight from Skyfall.
    - The plane fight scene from The Living Daylights.
    - The Plane grab from Licence To Kill.
Or the airplane stunt from Cliffhanger.

The narrator is incorrect when talking about Dar Robinsons death scene in Stick. No airbag was used in the scene. You can see the entire area below him as he falls. A harness and small cable attached to his ankle with help of the decelerator is what he used. Watchmojo should have know this before voice-over recording.

Jackie Chan is unbeatable number 1, because he did many of his stunts without any ropes and safety measures. Tom Cruise is doing some really cool stunts as well, but more in a western manner, with safety precautions and stuff.

  • @cjhansen6618

Alan Rickman did the 30-40 foot fall out of the Nakatomi Building at the end of "Die Hard" himself. The stunt coordinator told him to spread his arms and legs out like a star so that he wouldn't flip and land on his head. It was the last scene he shot for the movie just encase the stunt went wrong. They shot that stunt three times.
And Brendan Frazier does his own stunts. Like the one he did as Link in "Encino Man" where he jumps from one floor of the school to the other while doing a hand stand flip.

Really nice list with a good balance of lesser-known films and more mainstream choices. Two mistakes that I noticed:
    1. While the 180 in Baby Driver is a real stunt, the loading trucks that he whips around were added digitally
    2. Deliverance was directed by John Boorman, not John Frankenheimer.

In my opinion, one of the greatest fire gags of all time took place in The Thing From Another World (1951). This was before the days of CGI and general stunt safety. The scene is when Ken Tobey and crew set James Arness (or his stunt double) on fire with kerosene and a flare gun. He suffers a full body burn before crashing through a window and disappearing into the snowy night, howling in pain. I've seen the scene at least twenty times and it still gives me goosebumps every time I see it.
