Why'd you cut holes in the face of the moon base?
Don't you know about the temperature change
In the cold black shadow?
Are you mad at your walls
Or hoping that an unknown force can repair things for you?
Pardon all the time that you've thrown into your pale grey garden?
If the ship will never come you've got to move along
Even a bird would want a taste of dirt from abyssal dark
The prick of a feather could make a kingdom burn and the bloodshed start
The falling apart
Made me a shadow in the shape of wonder
The waves of black
If she's going under I can hold my breath till the sky comes back
Or drown like a rat, rat, rat
He's a rat!
To catch a monster
We make a movie
Set the tempo
And cut and cut its brains out
It will inspire on the burning pyre
Half the distance
Half the motion
Communication
It's easy as the ocean

Easily the best song on oracular spectacular
rubyblue easily their best song
There is no best song on Oracular. They're all, pardon me, spectacular.
@@mikec5773 It is simply the best. Luring people with ironic pop songs and hide the dark stuff for the real fans.
@@horumoon1283 I think ur a bit confused
on god
These boys are one of the best bands of the 21st century. They would be missed in thirty of fourty years like we miss Pink Floyd or Yes. Masters of melody and psychedelia.
yes
yup
Yes, Pink Floyd, and MGMT are literally favorite bands ❤
this should’ve been the hit off this album it’s easily their best song
not as catchy even though id argue its much better
Unfortunately the best songs are never end up being the hits for any album
It's 2023 and this is still awesome
the outro gets me everytime
It's what initially drew me to this song. Such a great melody.
youre fucking lame
That guitar solo by James :) :)
This song was ahead of its time
This is my favorite song on the album. Not as trippy as Electric Feel, and not as mainstream as Kids. Perfect balance.
RIP HEIMERS my best friend loved MGMT and this song. Rock on in heaven my brother.
let's not forget the bass is badass too
Drums too. That half-open hihat kills it, drives this song like a damn truck.
Great comment NotoriousNME I agree.
the bassline gave the song another processed ending
Andrew is really good at playing tough chords while singing
This is the actual hit from the first album.
This is by far my favourite song by them and that instrumental bit at the end is fucking amazing !
I was looking for someone to say that, so gnarly
15 years later stil the same goosebumps ! best song ever of MgMt
Still their best performance of this song! Of the ones that are uploaded on TH-cam at least...
Yessssss. I think this and the other songs they played on kcrw are the best versions. The guitar solos r great.
celebrant9 absolutely agree. These solos are too killer
I love all the kcrw performances too! So the best. And now give it up for James Richardson! And the rest of mgmt! 😂
the non-singles on oracular spectacular are all amazing
andrew i miss that hair
It's easy as the ocean
Gets me everytime
One of the most underrated bands of the last 20 years. Glad to see they're finally getting the critical acclaim they deserve with their last album.
This is like their best live performance in my opinion... Such a random place lol
this song and performance is epic! legendary
Why can’t I like this over and over again
wow this is fucking incredible the musicianship and talent that the public eye does not see.
Is this the best live version of a song I’ve ever heard?
Yes, I believe it is.
It is... i totally agree❤
Great harmonies and so together. They are all good singers together.James is so talented on lead guitar. Love it.
When I am grown up, i wanna play guitar like James :)
Ok, 8 years are gone now. Did you learn how to play guitar?
@@100thmegapixel xDDD
Fantastic performence
I love you can see James' headphones start falling off in the fade out at 5:10, then the next shot he's just rockin out like nothin
Fog Guy ikr 😂💜
James starts jammin so hard his headphones fall off lol. What a beast
MGMT is one of the most overlooked and underrated bands right now. James kills it in this video. WOW
This sends you. Brilliant guitar work. MGMT forever.
i LOVE this song! its just soo deep and amazing...not too electric like "Kids", not too psychodelic like "Electric Feel"
MGMT IS AWESOMENESS IN ITS BIGGEST EXPRESSION!
This is waaayyy more psychedelic than electric feel, electric feel is basically a pop song like kids.
@@SubBubz Always felt Electric Feel is very similar to the non singles of oracular its just more poppier haha
JAMES GOT JAMS
Very Roxy music esque, probably one of their best songs
3:18 on my mind slips away to another place... wish this instrumental would last forever.
Love the self indulgence in the guitar. This shit is so out there. Pure genius.
I love the guitarist.
He's great! He adds a new flavour to the
songs.
I feel like letting the acid feed my head
BEST SONG ON ALBUM love andrews voice
james NAILS it
Wow what a live
i lovee this part 3:37 is soo relax
n_n
he plays it so perfectly too
This tune actually makes me wanna buy better speakers.
or performance.. >.
This song is just sooo cool. Everything about it.
This one of the songs that everyone should love better live
Oh MY GOD!!! This is an amazing version of the song!!!! They are so good! My favourite song from the album!
drums at the beginning remind me of "get back"
always...
there is a difference but it always gets me xD
I am so happy they decided to be a band. I didn't really think they were all that until I just watched that. They need to keep their albums sounding raw like this. The electric sound is awesome (especiall loud) but this is just fucking amazing.
Communication.
Is easy as the ocean.
lucy half the distance... half the motion....
Am I the I my who loves the part 2:13 to 2:25?
This is one of the best songs EVER! Love MGMT!
That fucking bass 😩
They should name a psychedelic after MGMT.
I've been watching tons of vid of this song live and this is by far James' best solo!
2:14
theparisbassist same!
I loveee this song live. And the guitor solo is ace!
I like this version better
eughferrilopioman the guitar in this one is better for sure. But Andrew's live vocals are never that good.
Wish they used James, Will and Matt in the studio to...
Tripped acid so many times to the entire album, the back half is where it gets nuts
great stuff here.the bridge, solo. verse.. Even the Outro... So many fantastic parts tio this Masterpiece
Their best track. Just huge. Masters of psychedelic rock worthy of early Genesis, PF, etc etc.
May these guys keep on making music well into their 80's.😊👍✨️✨️
sickkkkk!
so...good!
They sound like South Park characters
wow me gusta esta cancion es muy psicodelica!! esta buena...
You've gotta move along.......
@MrSkinnyBuh I mean in the sense that everyone likes them for songs like "Kids" and "Time to Pretend". When in reality they are so much better than those songs. Congratulations BLEW my mind.
Best Grateful Dead tee ever.
best fucking live ever
They do play on Congratulations, but not Oracular Specatcular. They became official members in 2008 or 2009 can't remember which.
damn that shit made me sit and fit all my thoughts in at once, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andrew = LOVE
Still watching this gem in 2023
so in love with andrew *__*
If only i had a time machine, id go back to this very room on that very day.
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like MGMT
@@MassiveFish-hp4pm ty ill check em out
The best song Pink Floyd never recorded! #EPIC!!!
I thought that it sounds quite like Floyd!
Actually, if you search who wrote it, Andrew Vanwyngarden wrote it himself. Or I'm just misinterpreting your comment. :p
MinasPraSempre i think he means that they sound very much like Pink Floyd in this song which is true... so freaking relaxing
Ohhhh haha
Didn't know that!
they're so amazing
Love MGMT
You can tell they really enjoy and appreciate music cus they play with passion unlike most other bands who are in it for money
ive never heard james play so masterfully, his skill is awesome
@BenWeaverTV it does sound a bit like the Sweet Child O' Mine solo
I aspire to be like Andrew VanWyngarden. His hairstyle, singing and I love his guitar
I love those songs too, but theres NOTHING wrong with liking Time to Pretend and Kids. They're great songs and wonderfully made, just a bit more easy to listen to then the other songs on the album.
When Andrew bites his lip at 0:25, omg... x___x;
Sam Woo I'm like hold up, I'll that for u 😇😈😇
Is this song about 9/11? If so could someone explain the lyrics.
@EazyMonkeyProduction The first solo he uses a wah pedal, the second it sounds lik he uses a stereo flanger.
awesome ass guitar :)
dude i think it sounds sicker live than on the album.
perfect :D
Had to watch something ive seen 1000 times to see if I was still trippn, and I am 😂 happy friday the 13th y'all 💜
Incredible song and performance.
I love this song even more live, usually its like the opposite. It really shows how good they truly are
MGMT
this song is beyond epic, the outro shooots you straight into space.
2:29 - "look at me, i'm gonna do tapping and it will be fucking awesome"
fiesty hair Andrew :DD
@ccmarymannmens Amen.
that custom shop gibson on James 😮 idk why he isnt a legit member..been with them soo long
You all miss the point here. Either they are 1) (like myself) playing the solo right there...hence making it very difficult to recreate uless you play some easy crap. or 2) they are living their 70s dream by playing over the top messy stuff....This could be a CSNY track and Stills played different things all the time...As did Gilmour, Howe and other 70's greats!
(my 1st singer used to get upset at gigs when I'd say to him....wait till you hear this solo tonight)
MgMt isnt a boyband, seriously.
Boybands are groups of attractive young men who do purposely hip songs, and are nromally used for money and advertising like the Jonas Brothers are.
Mgmt are real musicians, who write their own songs and try to be as experimental and great as possible. They just happen to both be men and young.
Hey i thought it was still pretty fuckin cool the bands awesome make good compositions like this and still so what if theres a more of a rockish tone at least they can take it and do that and still make it as good as it is not many people can
