A big win for me has to be Trevor blowing up that methlab house. His dialogue was just hilarious and I never felt so satisfied by blowing up a house in a video game ever.
Yaa because first you have the slow but adrenaline building sniper part in the the beginning, then you have a long and fast shootout with hillbilly's with Trevor's amazing dialogue and then your adrenaline is so high by then that when you pour the gasoline on the way out it's making you want to go faster because you are all ready on an adrenaline rush then you do the explosion and it's amazing and satisfying
21:17 Amanda only started cheating on Michael because he cheated on her, so that technically is his fault about the fact she cheated in a way This is made clear when Amanda says “I was faithful to you till I found you in a stripper” I could be wrong but I’m 98.7% sure that this is true
And the therapist asks him if he stopped cheating and you can say yes or no depending on your gameplay, there’s also a cutscene when you switch to Micheal where he walks out of a motel that’s near a prostitution place and he says I can’t do it just doesn’t feel right he’s definitely done that before and probably regrets it
Two wrongs don't make a right though. And depending on your, ahem, "choices" while exploring Los Santos, Michael has stopped cheating on her. Still, can't exactly say she's the bas guy with Michael being a bank robbing murderer
Wonder how things would've turned out had the original deathwish remained true to it's original idea, that it was a literal deathwish, and that it'd result in Franklin's death, and instead the player would take control of Lamar in franklin's place for the endless free-roam
Same. I think after Franklin tried to get Lamar, they would’ve been ambushed by Ballas after the events of Lamar Down, and in the ensuing shootout, Franklin gets shot. Afterwards, Lamar promises to go to the mill, and by the time he does, Trevor and Michael are already getting attacked. Idk, I think it sounds plausible.
1:09 Fun Fact: Ned Luke (Michael's VA and mocap artist) is deaf in his right ear, and this scene was basically Rockstar's way of working it into the story and Michael's character.
About the Jewelry Heist, I replayed that mission about a dozen times and made loads of changes to the crew and approach, and I absolutely appreciate the different bits of dialogue that happen depending on what you decide to do. When I went for the smart approach, I noticed Michael asking for Franklin directly to bring his A game, letting Frank know he's well aware of his skills and potential whenever he has the chance, and wanting him to prove himself to the hired help. But going for the loud approach, Michael holds off on that and let's Franklin introduce himself to the crew himself. Like when he has a chance to talk to Franklin alone, Michael let's him know that he appreciates and respects him.
I just love the dynamics between the 3 protagonists. Sure the overall story isn't anything special but the way the characters interact throughout is what makes the game so great. I'll take a subpar story with fantastic characters over a great story with shitty characters
One thing I'm surprised you didn't mention is the "cinematography." Throughout cutscenes, the camera bobs and zooms like it's being carried by a person. It creates sort of a reality tv feel that absolutely fits the themes of the game.
I just love the way how Dave pulls out the gun in the standoff with Steve and Sanchez he just pulled it out with one hand like he doesn’t give a shit anymore
I love that when you start deathwish and meet T and M at the foundry their stances really reflect their characters, M hardscopping an AMR on T while standing an entire metre away from him and T just ready to hip fire mag dump an LMG on a single target 😂
Small thing I would say is that in Bury The Hatchet when Trevor and Michael are trained on each other, Trevor fires, you hear a *click* and then he throws his weapon, the weapon probably jammed or wasn't loaded when he pulled the trigger, he fully intended to shoot Michael in that moment
To be perfectly clear, as I assume you haven't seen it: Michael was the one who cheated on Amanda first with a stripper, as revealed in the mission when Trevor and Michael reunite (if you switch to Michael instead of going there with Trevor, therefore missing half of the cutscene). So in all honesty, the shit house life was kinda on Michael.
Michael and Amanda also claim they're in an open relationship so in all cases Michael is in the wrong Except if they said something in the lines of "not in the house" but then he still waaaay over reacted, even by his standards
@@LSqre it's also said by Amanda that they're in an open relationship The open relationship is definitely real but they probably agreed on it because they were cheating with each other in the first place
Most of the lines that Michael said to Trevor in the prologue were foreshadowing that Trevor was gonna die but then Brad got in the way and got shot instead I'm just saying this because I don't think GamingWins understood it, or maybe he did just didn't directly say it
A few points: - Amanda didn't start cheating on Michael. It's revealed through a lot of dialogue in side missions that Michael was screwing around with a stripper, and Amanda eventually caught him cheating on her, so she dropped the faithful wife life and started cheating on him as well. Canonically, they both screw around a lot: in some character switch screens in the early parts of the game, you see Michael dropping off prostitutes in alleyways or driving out of the parking lot of some shitty roadside motel, implying that he was getting some just as much as Amanda was. After Michael and Amanda have the therapy session, you start getting Michael refusing hookers and Amanda also stops going out with every man she comes across. - During the opening sequence, the original plan was for Trevor to die instead of Brad. Trevor was the most dangerous of the three, so Michael decided that he was the one that had to go, and as soon as Michael "died", Brad would just surrender because he was a coward and he would take the fall. However, you can see that the plan goes wrong when Brad suddenly walks in front of Trevor and gets shot instead, forcing Dave to change the plan on the spot. Unfortunately for Michael, Trevor doesn't surrender the way they expected Brad to, and this is the catalyst for the entire story. - The man Trevor kills in his first mission is Johnny Klebitz, the protagonist of The Lost and Damned DLC from GTA IV. Johnny is a badass biker that went through hell during the story of IV, so it's safe to say that fans were really upset that he got such an anticlimatic death here in GTA V. It's a very shocking way of introducing Trevor as an unhinged threat, but it also kinda undermines the whole story of Johnny.
I didn’t even realize they made a show out of that movie until a week or so ago. Wasn’t really interested, but I love Steven Ogg so I might watch a bit of it now.
Some of my own personal wins for GTA V that i can think of off the dome: When Brad gets shot in Yankton, he's bleeding all over. When Michael is shot, there's no blood. "This is the fuck, my soggy friend" During the torture sequence when T asks Dave if they've met, Michael says "Hey, what are we doing here?" to move things along and try to get Trevor to stop asking questions about Dave and Brad After the mission "Monkey Business" where you storm the Humane lab to retrive the neurotoxin, it's revealed over the radio that what you stole was actually perfume. You won the irony of Amanda calling Michael a whore and Fabien walking in after, but this actually happens again when she calls Michael a lying, cheating hypocrite. Jimmy says that his mom was a skank, and we know through Trevor that she was a stripper. You can actually find a photo of her stripping at a Los Santos Customs in Blaine County
@@gabrielalmeida9580 easily one of Trevor's best lines in the game 🤣 but that actually reminds me of another win: If you don't kill Ortega when you ram his mobile home into the river, he shows up during the assault on the meth lab
I came here to reference the same thing!!! It may not have been an exact gay Tony but nova and gay Tony in 2022…..I miss middle school days watching him 🥲
I always found this game fun to replay because some of the opening cut scenes to missions can change depending on who you start them with. It was a great stepping stone to get us to the detail filled RD2
I know Online isn't the best example for continuity but in the Contract update Franklin talks about how he and your character have a mutual acquaintance in Trevor and that he knows a producer at Richard's Majestic most likely meaning Michael. All that implies ending C is the cannon ending
There's another detail I love about the intro mission. You don't notice it the first time you play the game but when Brad got shot, he was walking right in front of Trevor. Dave was aiming at Trevor as you all know. So much consequences from the fact that Brad HAPPENED to walk past Trevor at the exact moment Dave shot
Franklin and Lamar are my favorite parts of the whole game. Their constant bickering and wisecracking never fails to make me laugh. The first few missions are some of my favorites purely due to the dialog between Franklin and Lamar (Lamar's rant when Franklin gets Employee of the Month, the Yee-Yee Ass Haircut, basically all of Repossession, amazing mission for dialog.) There was never a dull moment between Franklin and Lamar, big props to whoever wrote the interactions between these two. When Rockstar announced they were coming back in DLC for Online, I was worried about their characters being ruined but that was thankfully not the case. It feels like Franklin finally got the thing he wanted most in Story Mode: Not having to take orders or be bossed around, because he's the main guy telling you what to do in the missions most of the time. He even took inspiration from Lester with payphone assassinations (that pay pretty well, but that's besides the point.) Lamar is just as funny as he's always been, watching him trying to promote his weed business to Dr. Dre was one of the highlights of the DLC. Also, the missions where you play as Franklin or Lamar are amazing for GTA Online standards. Feels like lost content from Story Mode got pumped right into the game. 3 missions of pure fun. Lamar roasting Franklin again was a fun moment, even if it felt slightly forced by the massive popularity of the meme earlier that same year. The weed van was such a stupid idea that only Lamar could make, I absolutely loved Franklin's reaction (and Lamar's head tap was pure gold) Overall, Lamar and Franklin are great. I really hope Rockstar incorporates them into GTA Online and/or GTA 6 in some capacity, I'd love that.
35:46 I think you got a flat tire now. XD In all seriousness, a whole bunch of wins for the different heist approaches and the crew member variety, the side missions and activities like triathlons, and hanging out with the other protagonists and friends, and the random things that can happen, like accidentally running over Trevor in free roam, or having him headbutt you if you follow behind him for too long.
Pretty sure Deathwish is canon at least in gta online, since Michael, Trevor, and Franklin are all alive in some of the online missions. (Not that I play them.)
I love reliving the game through TH-cam channels like yours. Its like playing the game again in less than an hour. You do leave out some of my favorite scenes, but I fill in the blanks. Thank you for this.
I have only cried to four games replaying them assassins creed 2, resident evil 4, halo ce, and GTA 5 they all have inspired my love for video game and even if they are old there visuals are beautiful and timeless and the story’s are amazing
I think a missed Win is when you kill Haines, the guy filming him goes "What's his name", which shows his pursuit of vanity and recognition, having a TV show and trying to be a hero, literally went nowhere, since not even the people working for him know his name. It's also a really funny moment.
39:18 Sure Michael is far from Saint Michael; but he robbed so that he could survive, he betrayed his best friends because he had a young family to care for.
I love GTA 5. Spent hundreds of hours in it ever since release in 2013. Played it on all platforms except PS5 (have it on PC). I never played online though and I'm sort of glad I never have. But I'm also sad we never got any single player DLC. I hope they can figure out what they want to do with GTA 6 because that's a game we're all waiting for but it has to be done right.
Hey I know I’m very late to comment and you won’t see this but GamingWins you forgot to mention that the guy who Trevor killed in his introduction was one of the protagonists of GTA4
The detail of Trevor spinning the shovel before cracking open the coffin is a nice detail I love it’s as if Trevor is spinning the wheel on whether or not what he’s gonna find in the grave and the outcome of his relationship with Micheal
That scene where Trevor trips over the fence when micheal gets kidnapped, was entirely improvised. Steven ogg really tripped over the fence but continued going as he hoped it would work. Love Ogg
In the original script, Franklin was supposed to die at the end of Deathwish and Lamar would take his place but it was cut. That's why Michael said: "That's a death sentence Franklin." Cause Franklin was originally going to have his Deathwish
Something i love about this game is that there’s a plethora of alternate convos for the story car rides. Also Trevor’s blatant disregard for human life but he respects the shit outta women first and foremost lmao
The ending where Franklin slow walks toward the city skyline while the camera pans up and the credits starts rolling is the perfect Hollywood ending even if the outcome is not as satisfactory as End C
34:31 Fun fact this entire scene was accidental. Trevors actor accidentally fell and Franklin's actor was genuinely laughing until he realized that Trevor's actor wanted to continue the scene
17:00 yeah trevor is my fav character because no matter how crazy he is he refuses to betray his friends he couldnt even shoot micheal during the brad coffin bit even tho he deserved it tbh and trevor is just the most loyal character in most media ive seen
6:11 It is basically confirmed with the most recent online update that C is the canon ending, since Franklin AND Trevor make appearances and Michael is mentioned by Franklin in a positive manner (and Franklin is not disturbed as you might expect if he had decided to clap Michael).
I only discovered this channel last week and Ive already binged through 90% of the content 🤣 The analysis is fun and insightful, Im learning and having fun at the same time 🧀 🤣
Fun fact: in the mission where Trevor is driving to LS with Wade. 16:37 If you are in Trevor's car, Wade will mention that he is getting wet from the rain and the (Mind F**k) animation will play but if you are in another car the dialogue will change so Wade doesn't mention about getting we and the animation won't play
First one you are completely wrong in. GTA IV opening was one of the best cinematic openings in a video game and plenty of people will always remember the opening soundtrack.
34:30 you forget to mention, the real reason they considered Trevor's fall over the fence is because Steven Ogg fell off his chair while recording this line, leading to Shawn Fonteno's legit laugh at it.
This story is fantastic with truly great dialogue. I really don't know what you and everybody else is smoking. Seriously I truly cared about all three of these guys. Maybe don't rush through and actually hang out with these guys off mission. They have some really great dialogue on the way to those activities.
I think the problem is that time hasn't served it well. I love this game and I've played through the story multiple times, but after RDR2 this story (and most others, frankly) seem lacking by comparison.
@@ajspringer That is like saying Ghostbuster story and writing is terrible in comparison to The Godfather. They are trying to accomplish two very different things. One is a comedy and the other is a drama. And GTA V is still wickedly funny. Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't change that. And I don't even know if I would consider it one of the best stories ever told in video games. Sadie Adler almost ruins that story for me. I hate that character so much.
Actually the Death Wish ending IS confirmed to be canon since Franklin hinted at Michael being a movie producer and Nervous Ron’s DLC says Trevor is a fitness guru in Vinewood now.
A small, but significant detail in bury the hatchet: Trevor didn't just throw his gun at Michael, he pulled the trigger when Michael looked away and it jammed, that's why he says 'fuck' and throws it at him
“The final GTA of our lifetime” Damn I felt that one, facts… I hope my great great great great great great great great great great grandkids enjoy GTA 6 though. Lucky bastards
I wish you did a 100% completion version of this game. There are so many interesting things in the open world and an insane amount of detail. I just know that would be a lot of work to edit and play through. Great video though!!
The way Michel's ending goes down deserves a win. The way it sets up Michel finally having the happy ending he worked so hard for; having Trever back, and having Amanda inviting Franklin to dinner right after finding out Tracey got into college, just to be killed by one of the people he trusts most was heartbreaking.
The way I've always looked at GTA Vs story is this way "GTA V may not have the best story of GTA games, but it has the best story for a GTA game" Other GTA stories and especially GTA IV feel disconnected from the open world gameplay, like the actions I do as the player feel out of place for the actions the characters do in the missions, bur in GTA V our 3 protagonists are all varying degrees of insane enough to not feel out of place running over 17 pedestrians and out running the cops, and no one encompasses this more then Trevor, like honestly when I play the game as Trevor it doesn't feel any different then when I see Trevor in a cutscene, imo he's the perfect GTA protagonist, so bat shit insane that the crazy shit I do in the open world feels right at home for his character
The visuals makes it feel like an acid/psychedelic trip but in game Jimmy gave him Special K ( ketamine) so his illusions can just be seen as more of his self conscious talking to himself since hes finally "at peace" aka tranq'd out of his mind

This is made clear when Amanda says “I was faithful to you till I found you in a stripper”
I could be wrong but I’m 98.7% sure that this is true
And the therapist asks him if he stopped cheating and you can say yes or no depending on your gameplay, there’s also a cutscene when you switch to Micheal where he walks out of a motel that’s near a prostitution place and he says I can’t do it just doesn’t feel right he’s definitely done that before and probably regrets it
Lo
to be fair, she was a stripper so like.....
Two wrongs don't make a right though. And depending on your, ahem, "choices" while exploring Los Santos, Michael has stopped cheating on her. Still, can't exactly say she's the bas guy with Michael being a bank robbing murderer
The guy Trevor kills at the start is the main character of the lost and damned dlc for Gta 4.
Johnny Klebitz

I wouldn’t say subpar, but I’d definitely say waaaaaaaaay too short, and with less characters than I’d normally like!
8:27 that "BACK IN THE DAY?!" is so genuine
And also perfectly timed for the very next scene.
something you probably missed but dave was actually trying to kill trevor and brad got in the way
kinda upset that Lamar's "Ooohh he lied to meee~" didn't make the cut, definitely a win.
Lamar: “You sound like some bitch he didn’t call.”
Trevor: “ I AM some bitch he didn’t call.”
Loved that part.
I love how Michael can be covered in blood and everyone still sits around the table talking casually like he’s not bleeding out
The main story of gta 5 is so overshadowed by online I love the story so much it’s so underrated
facts
it is truly incredible storytelling and the pacing of the game is top! I love the story so much
I loved the story so much I bought PS+ to play GTA Online and I have never been so dissapointed. Its like a huge trash bin you search for figures in
Agreed. The dumb gta clickbaiters have overshadowed this amazing story for years
I love that when you start deathwish and meet T and M at the foundry their stances really reflect their characters, M hardscopping an AMR on T while standing an entire metre away from him and T just ready to hip fire mag dump an LMG on a single target 😂
Michael and Amanda also claim they're in an open relationship so in all cases Michael is in the wrong

Most of the lines that Michael said to Trevor in the prologue were foreshadowing that Trevor was gonna die but then Brad got in the way and got shot instead
I'm just saying this because I don't think GamingWins understood it, or maybe he did just didn't directly say it
One thing you seem to have missed, or maybe just glossed over for the sake of time is that during their standoff in NY, Trevor’s gun was never loaded.

💀
A few points:
- Amanda didn't start cheating on Michael.
Not gonna lie I thought the game was a little to old for this video. But I will will sit my ass down and see how I’m amazed yet again. Good work
No game is too old to revisit for an analysis of its story or the experience it brings. (However I understand your point.)
GTA will never get old.
Age is irrelevant. What are you, 12? Come on.

It's always interesting to hear overall opinions one disagrees with, if only to gain perspective of how another sees the same thing as oneself.
Man, if you enjoyed Steven Ogg in those shows, i heavily recommend Snowpiercer. He's so great in it!
I didn’t even realize they made a show out of that movie until a week or so ago. Wasn’t really interested, but I love Steven Ogg so I might watch a bit of it now.
Some of my own personal wins for GTA V that i can think of off the dome:
When Brad gets shot in Yankton, he's bleeding all over. When Michael is shot, there's no blood.
"This is the fuck, my soggy friend"
During the torture sequence when T asks Dave if they've met, Michael says "Hey, what are we doing here?" to move things along and try to get Trevor to stop asking questions about Dave and Brad
After the mission "Monkey Business" where you storm the Humane lab to retrive the neurotoxin, it's revealed over the radio that what you stole was actually perfume.
"This is the fuck" always cracks me
@@gabrielalmeida9580 easily one of Trevor's best lines in the game 🤣 but that actually reminds me of another win: If you don't kill Ortega when you ram his mobile home into the river, he shows up during the assault on the meth lab

Apparently Lamar’s rant at Franklin was improv so Franklin’s “…what???” Was his genuine reaction cuz that was not in the script
Dave was trying to shoot Trevor at the beginning. Brad step in line of fire also Michael wasn't in witness protection ;)
Vespucci beach is incredible. The guy who discovered California, Amerigo Vespucci, cousin of Christina Vespucci, lover of Ezio Auditore.
The weed van was such a stupid idea that only Lamar could make, I absolutely loved Franklin's reaction (and Lamar's head tap was pure gold)
Overall, Lamar and Franklin are great. I really hope Rockstar incorporates them into GTA Online and/or GTA 6 in some capacity, I'd love that.

I'm kinda sad there wasn't a win for "Fuck you! Fuck your pizza, fuck everything it stands for." That gets me every time. Still, a damn great video.
35:46 I think you got a flat tire now. XD
In all seriousness, a whole bunch of wins for the different heist approaches and the crew member variety, the side missions and activities like triathlons, and hanging out with the other protagonists and friends, and the random things that can happen, like accidentally running over Trevor in free roam, or having him headbutt you if you follow behind him for too long.
Pretty sure Deathwish is canon at least in gta online, since Michael, Trevor, and Franklin are all alive in some of the online missions. (Not that I play them.)

They also made option C the Canon ending officially with it being mentioned in a recent online update

19:54 in films when a character is framed to the left it typically means their are in a position of power
I would've loved to play Lamar but I'm glad it was cut

Something i love about this game is that there’s a plethora of alternate convos for the story car rides. Also Trevor’s blatant disregard for human life but he respects the shit outta women first and foremost lmao
The ending where Franklin slow walks toward the city skyline while the camera pans up and the credits starts rolling is the perfect Hollywood ending even if the outcome is not as satisfactory as End C
34:31 Fun fact this entire scene was accidental. Trevors actor accidentally fell and Franklin's actor was genuinely laughing until he realized that Trevor's actor wanted to continue the scene
Not really it wasn't

If you are in Trevor's car, Wade will mention that he is getting wet from the rain and the (Mind F**k) animation will play but if you are in another car the dialogue will change so Wade doesn't mention about getting we and the animation won't play
Been waiting for this one for a while
First one you are completely wrong in.
5:51
Actually the best thing to come out of this scene were Franklin’s and Lamar’s actors redoing it IRL
I feel like it would be terrifying to have Trevor as a fitness guru
That was some convenient ass timing to get here under a minute after posting

23:45 GYYYYYATTTTTT
The funniest bit of the game is the drive in the truck with Lamar and Trevor at the end. So funny.
The way I've always looked at GTA Vs story is this way
"GTA V may not have the best story of GTA games, but it has the best story for a GTA game"
Other GTA stories and especially GTA IV feel disconnected from the open world gameplay, like the actions I do as the player feel out of place for the actions the characters do in the missions, bur in GTA V our 3 protagonists are all varying degrees of insane enough to not feel out of place running over 17 pedestrians and out running the cops, and no one encompasses this more then Trevor, like honestly when I play the game as Trevor it doesn't feel any different then when I see Trevor in a cutscene, imo he's the perfect GTA protagonist, so bat shit insane that the crazy shit I do in the open world feels right at home for his character
The visuals makes it feel like an acid/psychedelic trip but in game Jimmy gave him Special K ( ketamine) so his illusions can just be seen as more of his self conscious talking to himself since hes finally "at peace" aka tranq'd out of his mind
"this is my first time playing GTA 5"
"the character switching mechanic blew my mind back in 2013 on the ps3"
something doesn't add up here
