I am a Oklahoma fan and I get PTSD when I see the Cardinal and gold of USC back in 1981 when I was 15 years old the USC Trojans beat my Oklahoma Sooners with two seconds left on the clock. And overall I think the sooners might have a losing record against USC but I always loved the USC and UCLA Game.
The commentary during that last UCLA drive should have been included. The tension of that drive was incredible. At days start, 4 PAC 10 teams had a shot at the Rose Bowl. Washington State was in if they beat Washington. UCLA was in if they won and Washington State lost. Washington was in if they won and UCLA lost. SC needed the Washington schools to tie and a win over UCLA. It was a classic day in PAC 10 history. Classic game with everything on the line. At the stadium on the last drive, the noise from fans from both schools was incredible. When the kick was blocked, booom, and the level of noise increased. Best game I ever saw.
I too am from Big 12 country (Kansas) and I've always liked watching this series since I was a kid. My other favorites that I never miss are Army-Navy, Ohio St-Michigan and OU-Texas.
The very next year...1982...UCLA makes a long-term commitment to make the Rose Bowl their home...thanks to Al Davis, owner of the Raiders. Al wanted the LA market, so the Raiders and USC call the LA Memorial home. The Rose Bowl stadium has been the Bruins home since 1982.
This would be UCLA’s final season sharing the Los Angeles Coliseum with USC because when the Raiders came to Los Angeles in 1982, the Bruins moved to The Rose Bowl to play their home games. And currently(In 2022), UCLA continues to play in The Rose Bowl long after the Raiders left Los Angeles.
The Bruins have the distinct honor of driving further for their home games than they do every other year when they play their cross-town rival. BTW...the current UCLA-Rose Bowl contract goes to 2045.

Im from.Big 12 country but hope both these programs recapture good top 20 football again this rivalry was one of the best
