The days of real college football. Mark, R.I.P. to your dog Wally. I thought you were Wally until I visit this channel more thoroughly. Great content you have.
My dad was a USC grad and being a kid in NY in the 1970s they were not only my team but also the best team of the 70s. McKay and Robinson, AD, Bell, White, Haden, Rae, McDonald, Lott, Grant, Phillips, et al. These were my heroes. Fight On.
When I was a kid, I used to love the card tricks. USC would always win the big ones. They always were very close. UCLA and USC was the top rivalry in the country with the teams so close.
Thank you Marquan, I greatly appreciate it. Really an interesting game. I went through it last night for the first time. I finally got my last Boise State football game up the other day. All of those can be accessed through the website [ markthebronco.com ]. If you don't mind me asking, what part of the world are you in? You realize football starts at the end of August?
@@WallytheBronco I am in Kansas City. I LIVE FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL, ever since 1986. Plus I am a Missouri fan, so if you never post that 5th Down Game we are cool LOL
Yes! You know, that's about the time I really got bitten by the college football bug... Right around 1986. I watched it before that, but it didn't hold the meaning for me that it grew into. You have any favorite teams? In 1986, Penn State was my team. Boy, how times change.
Interesting side note: At the very moment this game was kicking off (1 PM local time) Jim Jones and his followers at the Peoples Temple in Guyana were starting to die from Cyanide poisoning. By games end, 900 were dead.
@@brianjacob8728 Actually, Brian I do in fact know exactly what happened as I have studied the Peoples Temple and the Jonestown matter for nearly 15 years. I have personally met with dozens of former members and writers and reporters who covered the story as it unfolded and attended the 30th year memorial at Oakland's Evergreen Cemetery on 11-18-2008. This story peaked my interest as Don Harris lived 8 houses down from me in Woodland Hills CA. on El Canon Drive when he died.
Really thought UCLA was going to go to the Rose Bowl in '78 when I was a senior in HS. Man, I got my heart broken again. What really sucks is if we had beaten Oregon St up in rainy Corvallis the weekend before, I think the Bruins would have clinched the Rose Bowl spot regardless of what happened in this game. :(

ND won titles in 73,77 so not sure bout team of 70s. Some great battles between them in that decade.

Eerie timing.
USC had a defense that year that was not to be trifled with - Dimler, Cobb, Lapka, Lott, Johnson. Scary.
Fight On!! ✌️✌️

Still would have had to beat USC else USC goes to the RB based head to head.
