I saw Journey with Steve Perry and Bryan Adams in the 80's. Nobody replaces Perry but Augeri when he debut in '96 on Fox News, I think it was, my wife and I are Jouney to the core "Faithfully" and since 1985 we have tattoos. I am glad Perry and Neal let him still use the songs without infringement.
It's too bad. Being in Journey destroyed his vocals, and as a result had to exit the band. He has recovered some of it, but he is not anywhere where he used to be. It's sad, but I'm glad to see him out there in any capacity.
Sadly singing the Journey catalog , as much as they pushed Perry and Augeri would destroy any singers voice . People always mention how Arnel has held up the best .. but it's only because they never put him through quite as much . They lowered keys before his very first tour ended to some songs . And have been doing it ever since . Augeri's voice was so damaged by the Generations tour , he was miming to pre recorded vocal tracks , live to many songs .
Dang it! Is there more of this concert on another video? He just started one of the best Journey songs and I was looking forward to seeing how well he does on it. He totally nailed the higher notes at the end of "Faithfully." He definitely could've been better on "Don't Stop Believin'" though. The guitar player would've made Neal Schon proud, too.
I don’t know what this guys problem is his post Perry albums are great he should only be doing those and whatever he writes after journey he is not doing himself any favors singing Perry era journey songs. He has so much talent he should run with it.
@@chefjeffreycruz1589 he isnt garbage at all. In his prime he was absolutely incredible, listen to the Journey 2001 live DVD, he was a brilliant replacement for Steve Perry. Singers don't often keep their voices in older age, and combine this with singing Journey's very punishing set list for years, and the result is not being as good as one is in their prime. Steve may not be as good as what he once was, but he'd still put most singers to shame, these songs are really difficult to sing, and despite now quite having the range, he does a pretty good job.

Lets stop blaming the band for the singer's voice problems. Problems arise when the singer gets laryngitis and loses his voice. Laryngitis causes vocal cord paralysis often permanently.
Augeri seems like a nice dude but why is he trying to sing Journey songs he is not a countertenor nor did he write the songs he was in Journey for a minute so he should sing those songs this is embarrassing to say the least you never sing songs out of your range and out of your league as a vocalist

Still I dont like the perryesqque leopard print shirt... kinda tributy... ya really shouldnt be singing journey.. sounds pretty good though but.. hes not a legacy member then again........ the only reason anyone knows him is his time in journey.. i wonder if he has to pay journey to sing those songs?

That is sadly what happened. Fronting Journey on endless tour is a voice killer. I saw him 3 times in his beginning with Journey and I looooved it.

Pineda was spot on when he first started but too many concerts strained his voice and the fast tempo just blew the Journey tempo.
plus he sings cover songs and lots of other singing besides journey on his off time.
