Agree also .. while nobody can truly replace Perry . Augeri had a certain tone to his voice that just fit the music , he didn't sound like a clone of Perry like Arnel does . he sounded unique while still being able to have a voice that fit the songs , from their classic catalog .
This man is and always will be a true gentlemen. For so many years he helped keep Journey on the road but they gloss right over that part of their history for some reason and jump from Steve P leaving to the rags to riches story of discovering Arnel. Miss you Steve. God Bless you and your family always.
Grew up with my Dad and I hanging out backstage with Ross at many journey shows. Augeri was always such a gracious and kind guy to speak with. Memories with my Dad I will cherish forever. Miss you Dad
That is So Awesome So Glad You got to do that with your Dad Amazing experiences and Backstage Wow! From the time our Daughter was born we took her to every concert and she got to see Her Favorite Band Journey 5 times by age 6 So Fun
Erik, who did your Dad know to be able to get backstage 🤔 That had to be so cool. We're u able to chat with any other band members. Niel seems cool but not sure he is as genuine as Steve A, Ross V, Jonathan C or Dean who I loved behind the drums.
My Dad was life long friends with Ross. I got to meet and hang out with just about everyone over the years. I was too young to go until after Steve Perry left so I never met him. Neal was always super cool to me and he spent time just chatting with me more than once, but he is certainly a business man. Steve A has a heart of gold, he was always so appreciative of everyone. He actually recognized me in the VIP area because he'd seen me there before at other shows and struck up a conversation with me. Amazing singer and a great guy. Deen was probably the one I spent the most time with aside from Ross. He was super cool and gave me some of his own clothes when I was like 15 and we played basketball together. Ross is a great and humble man, blessed to have had his friendship all these many years. i was telling him once how much I loved the bass parts of Stone in Love and without missing a beat he said "yeah Neal wrote that" honest and humble always. Cheers! @@bradcrawford1998
Higher Place and Arrival the album is the MOST UNDERRATED Journey album is all time. This is a classic tune, everything in it kicks ASS, beginning, middle and the end that just ends in a bang. I would actually love to hear Steve Perry sing Higher Place in his prime. He would have knocked it dead. Steve A did a VERY credible job 😉
Steve A. has some cool moves on stage. He was a great match for post-Perry Journey. It is a bummer that he couldn't stay with it. But everything he sang with them was easy to listen to.
I saw them in Cadot Wisconsin in 1998. 4 day music festival of rock. They closed the festival. And no joke....they smoked a 2 hour set in the rain 50,000 people stunned by their performance. One of the greatest performances I have ever seen. Augeri got my attention that night!
Mark Phelps Arrival is one of my all time fav albums. Neal's work on it was especially outstanding. He told me that he had been writing Living To Do with his father right before he passed away. Makes sense....I can hear their love& respect thru that song & it's my fav on the album
Absolute killer bass line all along that song. And with his special tone, using the 4 highest strings of a 5 strings bass on his bass, he is teuly underated.
This album arrival so much old journey vibe , it's 0ctober 7 2023, found my self looking for the songs on this album rediscovered the CD at home remembering why I love this under rated album Algeri did it with class and Arnel keeping joinery alive ...
What an awesome song. And while Steve Perry is so my favorite voice, Augeri did his best to fill those huge shoes, and he did an awesome job! Plus he's a high quality guy, humble and nice.

Steve A. gave Journey a new identity. The legacy sound was intact, and nobody is Steve Perry, but SA should have had a longer run. Arnel may have stronger pipes, but I much prefer the sound of this version of the band.

I asked N Al about that song as it has always touched me so deeply & his playing on it, along with SA’s soulful voice is magic. Neal told me he was writing it with his Dad right b4 he passed away & he finished the song g with Jon. Made me love it even more.
I got to see him perform the other night in Los Angeles and I truly do miss him with Journey!! I was too young to experience Journey with Steve Perry, so after watching behind the music and seeing Augeri, I had to see him live! My first Journey concert was with him behind the mic in 2002! Higher Place should've been a monster hit. Shame on their label for sitting on their asses once Perry was out. They gave their albums after Trial By Fire ZERO promotion.

Ronaldo Sanchez you should find out the truth that Steve Perry has left the band so they just want to continue over and over it is clear to. Everyone ho hate Steve Augeri and Arnel Pineda don't ever look down them at all.
Lmao. I get that being the internet tough guy is a thing, but you're talking about someone's opinion on the singer of a band that had its prime over 30 years ago. Ronaldo my man, go back to beating your wife because she doesn't like Steely Dan.
