  • www.digitalcareerblueprint.com - This week I interview Jimmy, who was miserable working as an Amazon Warehouse Worker (and moonlighting at McDonald's and as a Security Guard) no with prospects, no hope, and no college degree.
    He found my course, hustled super hard, and got himself a $60K/Yr Digital Marketing SEO job that is totally remote! Now Jimmy has a job that he loves and is making more than twice what he did before. He has more flexibility and is able to assist his family financially, which makes all the difference in the world. He is super passionate about his work and about sharing the opportunities in digital marketing with other people.
    I'm sure you'll find his story inspiring! Feel free to reach out to Jimmy with any questions on Linkedin:

    Awww Jimmy! I'm in the course now and just watched Seth's coaching call where Jimmy mentioned he had his interview and was expecting to hear back. It's good to see he is out there in the field now!
    I'm making my way through the course for a second time now. Trying to do all the assignments and make sure I thoroughly understand everything. I'm so ready to move forward in SEO.

    Whenever I'm feeling lazy and not feeling like taking the course, I go to these interview videos Seth uploads and this was exactly the type of video I needed. Definitely motivated me! Now time to continue on to the course in order to build my path for a better future!

    I enrolled in your course about 2.5 weeks ago ( had a 5 day break because had vacation planned) … Anyway I’m pretty much finished watching all of the content and about to start from the beginning again and do all the assignments. I’m very excited to get going with the practical side. I didn’t do them the first time only because you told us to just watch it all first haha. I’m a little anxious and sometimes worry I won’t get the hang of it but definitely very interested and excited o give it a go!

    You know one thing I love about these videos is that they always help me to regain perspective! After spending a few months immersed in digital marketing and hanging out where digital markets hang out online, doing the internship, etc.... it starts to feel like everyone knows!
    But this video reminded me that it's still very much "a secret" 😁- 🤫

    Very very cool! Jimmy's story was very inspiring! I'm still at it too! Ever since I found this channel, my trajectory has massively shifted and I haven't even gotten into the course yet! Practicing skills I never even saw myself doing, getting opportunities to intern at a digital marketing agency for the summer (one month left), gaining confidence in my web-design skills and so much more!
    I'm getting into the course VERY soon! (Finally) - after months of following your free advice and watching every student interview on your channel 😅! See ya soon! 😁

    Another great video like always! Very inspirational!
    I have used some of your advice on TH-cam to get a few interviews in the past few weeks. Hiring managers truly don't care if you have a degree. They just want someone who knows what they are talking about and can do the job. I have been getting to later rounds but no offer yet! I know it will come someday!

    • @sethjared
      @sethjared  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's great! Are you in the course? Either way - well said. This whole college degree thing is a leftover practice from the 70s and 80s when having a degree actually meant something. If you have one great but if not then don't be deterred. All the smartest companies like Google, Apple, etc. are eliminating degree requirements and most companies will in the future.

    • @JuanGameLeft
      @JuanGameLeft ปีที่แล้ว

      @sethjared unfortunately not yet! I have been wanting since last December. My wife and are trying to work a little harder to get it for me! She sees how bad I want this and is 100% on board. I ran a few ads before on Google and Facebook for one of business. I was instantly hooked on digital marketing. There is this awesome feeling of putting an ad together and have hundreds of people engaged with it! Even better when it makes a sale!
      It's funny because right at my company, they will not let you move up or into a position unless if you have a degree. I am talking non technical positions too. It's ridiculous. I am glad companies are getting rid of the degree requirement!!

    Hello, Seth I'm really interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing, particularly in areas like SEO or Content Marketing. I would like to know more about how the job market is evolving in these fields. What are agencies looking for in digital marketing professionals? Moreover, what are the key skills and qualifications that can make me stand out as a strong candidate? Finally, what would be the best approach to gain a job in this industry? Thank you for your insights and guidance!"

      The jobs I am speaking of are primarily in Western countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. You cannot be hired as a salaried employee for these jobs unless you are a citizen of these countries or if you have a work visa due to labor laws.
      If you live in a non Western country you can either get a job in your own country or you can freelance for Western companies via sites like upwork or fiverr.

  • @BobEvans0
    @BobEvans0 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok I get that he got a good entry level job, but all this “I can have any life I want now”, “you ask for it I’ll buy it” stuff is overkill. Not sure how much he currently makes. But if it’s still 60k then he makes the same as a high school teacher. Just sounds over hyped. (Btw I’m in the course so I’m not saying it doesn’t work)

    • @sethjared
      @sethjared  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hey Conor - good to hear from you. I'll give you a little more context so you can appreciate Jimmy's attitude - and why you see similar excitement in all of my other interviews.
      First off, the teacher vs. digital marketing thing isn't an accurate comparison. The average starting salary for high school teachers in the US is around $42,000 - www.nea.org/resource-library/teacher-salary-benchmarks. It takes teachers several years to reach $60,000 and this also varies by state. In fact some of the higher cost of living states like California and New York skew the average, and some people forget that if you live in a middle America state teachers make very very little (hence, the premise of "Breaking Bad"). Plus, teaching is much more labor intensive, with longer hours and a lot more stress. And it definitely cannot be done remotely.
      To go from working in a warehouse making around minimum wage to suddenly making $60K right off the bat working from home is an incredible feat, so it's no wonder Jimmy is so pumped. And remember, in teaching that $60-$65K mark is a ceiling for many (you could be making $65K with 10 or 15 years of experience), whereas people in digital marketing can get to $100K in just a few years, and often more when you include bonuses and commission packages, plus freelance clients.
      It takes some of my student students 1 year to reach $60K, but understand that salary is higher than most early career salaries not only for teachers but for most college grads. If you look at the New York Fed, you'll see the only college majors to have $60K or higher early career salaries are Engineering majors, followed by Nursing, Finance, and accounting majors: www.newyorkfed.org/research/college-labor-market/index.html#/outcomes-by-major
      So I think Jimmy's enthusiasm is warranted, and I'd encourage you to be similarly optimistic as you purse this career.

      Dude was literally working in fast food and Amazon warehouses. Idk if you know what its like to work those types of jobs but they're absolute shit jobs. Being able to go from barely-minimum wage to 60k a year (basically 5k a month) is a HUGE jump so I think his hype in the video was pretty much necessary
