Funny story about Michael Jackson... My mom is a HUGE Stephen King fan. About two years ago, she got the chance to not only meet him, but have a conversation with him and he told her a great story about Michael. Apparently, Michael wanted to consult Stephen on his music video, "Thriller," and tried calling him. Stephen had gone out, so his wife, Tabitha, answered the phone. Stephen doesn't believe in cell phones - hence his book, now a movie, "Cell" - so he always leaves a number he can be reached at with Tabitha. So, of course, she gave Michael the number Stephen could be reached at and they got off the phone. About ten minutes later, Tabitha gets another call from Michael, only this time he's crying. When she asked him what was wrong, he explained, while still sobbing, that he hadn't had a pen or paper when she gave him the number, so he'd written it in his carpet, but the carpet had sprung back up and he couldn't read it XD

I actually have a lot of respect for Paul McCartney after hearing that the only reason he turned down Weird Al's idea was because the song was literally about eating meat. Im not a vegetarian but I respect that his decision was based on a principled reason that he cares passionately about. The fact that he said he would be cool with literally anything else shows he is a nice guy.
Respect? He confirms the stereotype of vegetarians and especially vegans as humorless, moralizing busybodies. Humility/the ability to laugh at oneself is a top 3 important human traits and this is just self-important. *Al himself* is a vegetarian but you only see one of these guys taking themselves seriously to the point where you can't joke about fking food. Oops, the correct statistic is that he is one of 5 (I think) artists who have had a top 40 hit in each decade since the 80s. MJ, Madonna, U2, and Kenny G. That's 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s. Let's see if any of them can do it in to 20s.
@@Stjurgeon That's right and it's his only single that went platinum. And his highest album chart was #1 in the US Billboard 200, the first comedy album to hit #1since 1963. thevoxdeus sarcasm dear
I LEGIT grew up listening to Dr. Demento on the radio in the 70s and hearing Weird Al for the first time between songs like Blood on the Saddle and Fish Heads. You've come a long way, old friend. And yet... not very far at all.
Weird Al, the man who looks exactly same today as he did in the 1980's!!!
Now, that really is weird! LOL. 😜
I first heard Weird Al sing when they played, “Another One Rides the Bus,” at the skating rink when I was in 4th or 5th grade. It was awesome!
Weird Al was an adult when I was kid like 30 years ago....
THIS DUDE DOESN'T AGE?
Is he a vampire? A robot? A Kardashian?
+Pucadupr - They say laughter keeps people young.
I'm amazed he hasn't regressed into childhood by now!
I love Al: I was in High School when "Eat It" came out and his amazing comedy has been with me every step of my life, since. :)
David Rust
lardass
“But it wouldn’t have worked because my chorus was going to be bawk bawk BAWK bawk bawk BAWK BAWK BAWK” it was just going to be noises.
That was awesome.
Weird Al looks like John C. McGinley wearing a wig.
+Chris Hegedus Hahaha.
+Chris Hegedus goddamn it, now I can't unsee it
the dude from scrubs right?
Haha, yes.
+Chris Hegedus THAT IS ALL I SEE NOW 😂😂😂
"He's super nice, very soft spoken, but it's not like you're meeting a human. I mean, and I don't mean this in a bad way. It's sorta like, he was so bigger than life, he's so iconic, it was almost like you're meeting an alien. Or like you're meeting a statue from, uh, Madame Tussaud's. He can't possibly be real!"
This was literally my experience meeting Weird Al as part of the VIP experience on his current tour a few weeks ago.
Natalie Euley Yep, that definitely sounds like what it would be like meeting Al, especially since I've liked him since the early 80's. A very huggable adorable alien.
I've been listening to Weird Al since My Bologna and Another One Rides The Bus on Dr. Demento. in the late 70s. I remember him on MTV as well.
I never noticed he had such a big head.
I love Weird Al.
He's basically like Conan if Conan could sing and dance.
+Paradox Acres honestly, they both have the same talents. Al is not a good singer or dancer. His skill is in delivery and writing. Certainly the same could be said of Conan. Their intelligent awkwardness is truly their greatest gift to the world;)
+leloodallasmultipass
Try to name the best male singer America has had in the last 20 years.
+Floymin Clay Aiken
Floymin what are you doing?
Brandon Brooks
Country? Seriously?
Weird Al is both a musical genius and a national treasure. I'm going to see him in Seattle on Friday.
He is great, I have enjoyed his music from the beginning. Have a blast!
I've become obsessed with spreading the word to check him out singing Chicken Pot Pie on youtube.
I've watched it about ten times now and when he pulls out a rubber chicken when he clucks, I lose it every time!!!
He's so serious, it kills me.
Is this man immortal? He hasn't aged a day since the 90s.
I' ve never seen a Weird Al interview before. This is awesome.
+RandomUsername010 Check out his interview with Craig Ferguson.
i just exploded into a fit of uncontrollable laughter when he did the chicken clucking chorus and i'm at a loss to understand how the audience didn't as well
The feeling Weird Al describes when meeting Michael Jackson is the feeling I imagine I would have if I were to meet Weird Al
From a guy who was in a band called wings???
XD...nice
+Joseph Charles Halpin
Yeah....
Well, I had another look, and I had a cup of tea, and butterpie. (BUTTERPIE!?!?)
Well, it's not like Paul was advocating eating chicken wings or something ;)
Right, and Paul didn't want to advocate eating meat....in a parody of a song about advocating MURDER. No, wouldn't be right!
Weird Al is our cool and goofy uncle who makes us laugh whenever we're depressed.
Weird Al is so cool, he's practically frozen.
+VivaToddVegas The cold never bothered him anyway...
+pmeadowdale too many bad jokes. Just let it go!
Weird Al was the first concert I saw, I think I was 10. I was in complete awe of the whole show
Wow, you two seem like brothers together. I don't think I've seen you with another guest that had that kind of vibe.
+Xmvw2X They both have a similar sense of humor. They could easily do a show together.... damn it I want to see it.
Al, you sir are an amazing and brilliant writer, singer, and performer! Keep the parodies coming young prince!
I think even Conan would be jealous of Al's long locks
Al's joke about "a point after it probably wasn't cool to go" joke was fantastic lol omg
weird Al is such a down to earth guy
I’m honored and privileged to have seen AL live in concert
Excited to see Weird Al in concert in July
People are too good for a joke suck. Al is a more decent person for respecting his holier-than-thou ethos.
@@speabodythis, you are 100% correct
He should be Conan's band leader.
I really enjoy seeing two of the funniest goofy nerds of all time talking to each other.
I like Conan but he always sounds like a jerk everytime someone talks about Michael Jackson.
ikr makes me like him a little less...im like Conan nooooooo..... Respect MJ
Tachi Rosa SAAAME. Like respect the king or gtfo.
Watch the clip of him talking with snoop after mj died. He was very respectful about his passing
superman82 can't find it :/ can you comment the link ???
@@JohnSmith-wi7nf I doubt that based on FBI evidence. Maybe though.
0:10 you were SHOWERING?
How were you showering?
Alone?
This is to much information 🤣
amish paradise was his tune
Yup, I spotted him at an airport around that time and said "Weird Al! Love your stuff!" and he shook my hand.
I LOVE weird al and his songs. So amazing. He should get a lot more credit than he does.
Interesting factoid: Weird Al is only one of 3 artists to have a No. 1 single in every year of the 80's.
Michael Jackson and Madonna were the other 2.
This isn't even close to true. His Debut Album was in 81, and he didn't even have material out in 1982 or 1987.
Weird Al's highest position in the US Billboard charts was number 9 with 2006's "White And Nerdy".
@@Stjurgeon That's right and it's his only single that went platinum. And his highest album chart was #1 in the US Billboard 200, the first comedy album to hit #1since 1963. And the first comedy album to debut at #1, won a Grammy, too. His Hamilton Polka, 2018, was the first polka on the Billboard Digital sales chart at #23. It also debuted #1 on the Comedy Songs chart.
@@mustangdebbie56 Would be tough for MJ unless, like Prince, he has a lot of unreleased stuff that is actually good. But given how much money owed Sony when he died, and how much Sony tries to make money from his library, and I doubt it.
I would pay $500 cash to hear the full Chicken Pot Pie song.
That's friggin genius.
This video is like my teenage years meeting my college years and sitting down to have a chat about music and Michael Jackson. Come on!!!!
IT'S CHICKEN POT PIE OR IT'S NOTHING!!
+sturmtheest The big irony here is that Weird Al is vegan too, but in his more liberal denomination of veganism, it's all right to make fun of meat dishes.
My generation grew up discovering Weird Al through “White & Nerdy” in the mid-2000’s. I’m happy that Yankovich continued to remain in people’s minds past numerous eras 🔥
Al is vegetarian too, they should have done it and given the profits to animal rights organizations.
The Vegan An-com
He doesn't claim to be and admits to eating non vegan foods. Or in your mind is it ok for vegans to eat cheese pizza once in a while?
BigSirZebras Vegetarian and vegan both start with "v"s, but they are different words. Vegetarians do consume animal products but not the actual animal.
as i watch the advertisment, WEIRD AL is a legend!
MICHAEL MICHAEL MICHAEL
conan and Al have the same exact energy
sense of humor is such a beautiful thing
it doens't matter who is embarrassed
it doesn't matter who comes out on top
you just want people to laugh and feel good
I still remember his first song: Another One Rides the Bus. Awesome! And the flip side of that single was even better, “Gotta Boogie”
Conan should do a remote with Al
I remember buying a Weird Al cassette tape in the 80's. We were so broke my friend and I split the cost and traded it off once in a while.
a show where conan and weird al talk about life...I'd watch that show.
OMG that was hilarious. I can just hear the chorus "Chicken Pot Pie" to the tune of "Live and Let Die" hahaha
