For me Denny Laine will ALWAYS be the fave, however I am thinking that also Homer Simpson has said the same thing. All in All Yankovic seems to have been more witty and brash during the era as to when this was filmed, that at least is how this feels to me, when I watch this

Unlike a lot of American stars, the McCartneys realised right away, that the interview was a joke, and gleefully joined in the fun. It was absolutely hilarious! FYI, Al, Paul was The Cute Beatle.🥰
After all these times of coming back to this once or twice a year, I only just realized.. Weird Al did that whole "Will you show us your thumb?" Joke.. but what makes it even funnier is that Paul thumbs up with his right hand. But he's left handed, so it would be his left hand thumb that would be more developed.
The real interview was done at Muchmusic, where a host interviewed Paul. When Weird Al took over Muchmusic, he had access to the real interview tapes and the same room. Weird Al was in the same room that was used in that interview, which is why it matches up perfectly.

Also because 80s-90s Weird Al was exclusively a character, whereas the post-2000s Al is much more publicly “himself”. Personally posting on social media, doing candid podcast interviews, collabing with TH-camrs, and being a real person on talk shows. He always had a career that at any point could have dried up and dropped from under him, so until recent years, any cameo or talk show appearance was part of the desperate marketing and relevancy hustle. His Phantom Menace parody was a hit, but the youth his 80s/90s work connected with were college aged, and he was still just a novelty act for kids. It didn’t really change things for him, beyond ensuring that he could continue making records. I really think the insane virality of “White & Nerdy” was a turning point where he gained genuine cultural relevancy again, and also received a lot of love from being in the spotlight. The youth of the 80s were now adult public figures and mainstream artists talking about him with genuine love and admiration, as well as being in positions of authority behind the scenes to arrange cameos or guest appearances. All of that to say, it was undeniably clear that his place in music and the public consciousness was secured, he wasn’t going to fade into irrelevancy and obscurity as an ‘80s novelty act. If you compare the albums leading up to “White & Nerdy” with the work and public image that came after, It really seems like he relaxed and hit a creative renaissance. Following his personal taste and creative interests, more than doing obligatory parodies of a popular music landscape he probably didn’t particularly like or connect with. So I think that’s why the “modern” Al feels like a different person than the “vintage” Al. Not just the physical evolution, but also the artistic one.

Weird Al is big for making parodies of other people's music, and on the side he did a parody interview show on MTV called Al's TV.. these clips of celebrities are from other interviews and Al has edited them to make them fit his comical questions.. the whole thing is genius and ahead of his time... He made the nation think it was real in the 80s and still to this day people get confused🤣
