So; I am agree with you about some games.. They need to be in list. 2nd subject is; Same dates, i was preparing for Sega, Ps1 and many other game lists like this. Final Fantasy (Mostly this one said by community) mistakenly mixed into pc list. Sorry about that but if there is video maker inside of you; days and days you are creating a database and construct video piece by piece. I couldn't see that, with tired eyes and focus.. Thats my fault. It needed to be in PS1 video. Apologize.
Games back then were somewhat more pure and with soul. All those GTAs and Far cries, CoDs and many other ruined the industry. You simply had to produce more with less and that stimulated creativity and imagination
@@keenmate9719 Wrong, they didn't ruin the industry, nor did they ruin gaming. If you want to play old games you can do so, the same goes for new games. I play and like both and in this video alone are 11 games I have currently installed, on top of games like Far Cry 5 and 6, and GTA 5, just to name those you complained about.
I remember playing lot of this games in my grandparents house, my grandfather was a freak of technology and he was getting them for me, sometimes playing also on his computer because mine was not so good hehe Thank you grandfather for this nice memories, you saved me from lot of bad moments of my life thanks to video games, I could focus on something else but what was happening around me, I never told you and now is too late, love you for ever.
They had to do more with less. These days it's about "here you have every tool known to man, do something with it", it's not really about "I have a dream of a game, what technologies will get be the closest and how to overcome their limitations"

Nowadays it's often bland and shallow. Exceptions certainly exists, but they have become quite rare nowadays.
this video is a documentary over my childhood. Well, I turned 18 in 2000. Remember downloading quake demo over 33.6 modem för an entire night. Many great games came out 96-97. Makes modern gaming pale in comparisson with just rehashes of older games or micro transactions.
Progress in 3D graphics in those crucial 4 years was really astonishing, compare games from 96 and 99 for example... It was THREE years. Right now we don't even get a new generation of GPUs in such time period 😀
What i missing is speed busters from 1998. Definitely one of the best games of this time with incredible graphics, good soundtrack and good special effects

Agh, the golden age of games that needed 2d DX and a couple megabytes of VRAM to run - and are still magnificent. (not to belittle original HL and CS, which could, indeed, benefit from having a measly MX2 :))
There were a lot of good games released during 2000-2005 too. The Xbox dealt a heavy blow to PC gaming, but there were still a ton of classics released. It's only after 2006 and the release of the 360 that things went completely down hill.
1996 - could be the best year ever in videogames. You can see why Tomb Raider and Quake were such huge events when they released at that time. Quake still plays great today.
As does DOOM. So many games from that era that are still sooooo accessible. I guess it's pretty much because these genre defining games.....well....defined the genres we know and love today.

I remember playing the demo to fifa, it was included with another game which i can't remember. The first video game i was addicted to was Roller Coaster Tycoon. I played the sims on my cousins computer. Doom and wolfenstiein 3d were some of the first games i played on pc.

@@user-jv1su4xp8q The original Silent Hill only ever came out for the original Playstation. It was later made available to run on the PSP (as many PS1 games were), the PS Vita and apparently the PS3. There WAS a package created by someone many years ago that claimed to be Silent Hill for Windows (or maybe DOS?), but what it actually was, was a copy of the PS1 game, pre-packaged with an emulator. I never tried it myself, but I recall hearing that it was rather finicky and wouldn't run on all systems. It still wasn't an actual computer release though.

Someone just made a standalone version of epsxe with optimized settings for the game and iso already loaded and had it run as 1 compiled program via a custom front loader. That was spread all over the place. It actually ran really well but as soon as windows started updating it'd act up worse and worse and now it's unusable. But really if you just took the time in an emulator you would have gotten the same effect. Now tho the best route to go is duckstation, it's the only way to play the first game in my opinion anymore unless you play the original game on a top end Trinitron CRT
My top 5 90's games 1- Doom 2- Half Life (Opposing Force) 3- Street Fighter 2 4- Fifa 98 5- Midtown Madness Also I tried Commandos a lot but I couldn't manage to accomplish any damn misson. There are lots of true masterpieces here but I'd just like to say one thing that nobody says: in 1997 had been published a videogame whose name was Galapagos. It was far from perfection but it was the first true attempt to center a machine learning model as main character in a videogame. Nowadays you can legally download a working demo and run it through qemu, if you're curious about it. Cheers.
Its the magic that is lost. Pixelated undefined graphics leaves room for imagination, struggle for realism is because in adults child die. Games are so real to kids, reality in those games were special, unique, not such close representation of real one.
Lol, I remember getting unreal with my Voodoo 3000 TV series card and was blown away. I still have that card and enough parts to put a pc together to put it in. Maybe I will do it for nostalgic purposes.
99-2000 era games, I am using XP. (At least for me) Best retro pc of course need to have diamond monster 3d or Vodoo 3-4-5 series Graphic card. Pentium 2 - 3 would be fine. So sorry for late reply.

Best RTS games were made in this time. Miss it soooo much. Each Remake would be a great success.

Curse of Monkey Island (1997) is on my list. Loved the puzzles and the story.
