Pope Celestine V and the Forgiveness: the first plenary indulgence in history

With the institution of the “Bull” of the Forgiveness, Celestine V launched a clear message to the Church of his time: the mission of the Successor of Peter is to save the world and ensure eternal happiness to all its souls.
In 1313, Pope Clement V canonized him with the name of St. Pedro de Morrone.
Every year, thousands of pilgrims go to the Basilica of Collemaggio to pray before the mortal remains of this hermit pope who made forgiveness the center of his pontificate.
