      Awesome vid Debo! Howdy neighbor from Illinois. I’ve always enjoyed your vids Debo, I’m of the same mind as you. To me, though bigguns are feathers in my cap, I looove catching no matter the size. And most of the time they’re dinks lol. My family has been pushing me to start a fishing channel. Any tips or pointers? And if I do start one, can I reference and link to your channel? Thanks for all you’re doing! #bankingit

    Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

    For bass I always carry: Trick worms Texas rigged, Rooster tails, super spot lipless cranks, jointed original Rapalas and Zoom super flukes. I fish (and have some success) with other baits occasionally but nothing else has yet come close to those five for me in fish production.

      Up here in NY its the same for me. They are pretty bad lures. You have to modify the hooks or you'll miss half the fish. If I throw on a weightless, weedless rigged Texas Rigged Curly tail worm or creature bait hook up ratio is like 90%. Drag them over the thickest of scum and lillypads and better than standard frog. I think those frogs out of the box are just good for Challenge videos, or stocked ponds in Florida with 5 pounders. Poppers are better for open water with 2 trebles. Really no reason to use Frogs other than to have bragging rights you finally caught a few on one. Just my opinion. GL HF

    🤫Many of these young people weren't born when Pit Boss was around.😊 I keep my soft plastics on a pegboard with 12" pegs. I keep 4 pegs full of 4" Pit Boss and one full of the 5" Papa Pit Boss. They work awesome for pitching, flipping, and any old T-rig setup. And they are usually very cost effective. Being in Texas I never leave home without a ribbon tail worm and some Pit Boss..
    Top 5:
    1: Texas rig - Culprit ribbon tail worm 7.5" or 10" and some Pit Bosses
    2: Crankbait - Storm Arashi Square 5 Rattling
    3: Frog - Livetarget Hollow Body

    Just sat with a fishing buddy & showed him this video. He was blown away by your choices of baits and terminal tackle. I told him that our choices were damn near the same ones. You chose a different brand of beaver creature baits than what we use & he still won't throw a Ned Rig. But he got me started on swimjigs last year and now I have a few of them myself. That's the only thing I would add to the arsenal you mentioned. Good video, I enjoyed watching his reaction to what you were saying. Have a good day Debo 👊

    1. *T-Rig* creature or craw---either a Yum Christie Critter in GP Candy or a Missile Baits D-Bomb in GP3 or Super Bug
    2. *Weightless stick bait*---Junebug, Black & Blue, GP purple flake are my favorites. (I always dip my tails too)
    3. *Spinnerbait*---Double Willow (Gold/Gold or Gold/Silver) and Double Indiana (silver) in either Chartreuse/White or Bluegill color. I like to add a trailer when I can get away with it and usually it's a Rage Tail Swimmer or Rage Tail Menace.
    4. *Swimbait or Swimjig*---White Ice and Electric Shad (chartreuse dipped tails) on a keel weighted 4/0 Berkley Fusion hook for the swimbait. 3/8 oz. Bluegill or Black & Blue Swimjig with swimbait or Rage Menace trailer.
    5. *Hollow body frog*---Yellow, Orange, or Black belly. I like the 2.5 best and find that the Booyah Pad Crasher and Popping Pad Crasher do very well for me....until the turtles gett'em >:( Turtles killed 4 of my frogs last year.

    3. Grub Worm Jig (for the clearer water, no rhyme or reason it just seems to slay all species at every place I fish)

    I always bring a football jig,cause I can drag it,hop it,swim it or burn it... it also wobbles like a squarebill when swimming...
    2nd probably a micro chatterbait in chanteuse with a zoom fluke as a trailer, sames way to fish it like I do the football jig... 3rd a waitless zoom swimming fluke in baby bass mainly do to it mimics almost anything,shad,bluegill,bass,crappie and much more I'm sure.
    4th a dropshot with a kvd perfect plastics shimmy stick in black and black.
    And last but not least...
    A strikeking mini buzz cause heck even a bluegill will hit that thing and the color I tipicly like is black
    If you're gonna start fishing and dont know what this is what I would hand you...

    1. Spinnerbaits to search with. 2. Chatter bait to change-up. 3. I use a 9-12 inch ribbon tail worm (green pumpkin) on a 5/0 Gamakatsu straight shank. Did really well last year with the Zoom Ol’ Monster and Mag Ol’ Monster. I like Old School Jelly Worms too. 4. I have to have jigs. I use what’s left of my Uncle Josh pork Frogs, Paca Chunks or Doomsday Tackle Reapers as trailers. 5. Jerk bait (Megabass Vision 110 or 110 Jr.)
    This list is what I call provisional. It’s what I think I have to have if I go to the pond. This is not what goes to the river or reservoir if I hitch a ride with my buddy who has a boat. And...the list morphs with season. I was throwing MegaBass Dark Sleepers last week and the fish were short biting them. I played a hunch, threw a 9 inch ribbon tail and caught five in 30 minutes. We’ve had lots of rain and the water is stained. The worm was a bigger silhouette, bigger target. Etc., etc. P.S. I live in southeast Alabama, we’re just now getting freezing weather. It won’t last long. When February gets here the big girls will start movin’. Don’t hate me.

    This is my first time commenting on here. So let me say thanks for all of the great content. II've really enjoyed watching and learning from you..
    I've been trying to narrow down the five baits I'd take with me and have decided that it really depends on the time of the year. As different baits seem to work better at different times.. In the fall I wouldn't leave the house without (1) a lipless In shad (2) a keitech style paddle tail rigged on a owner flashy swimmer (3) a jerkbait vision 110 is my favorite, but I take an assortment. (4) a Finesse jig and trailer (5) medium diving crank like the wiggle wart or curve55.
    In the spring and summer my five baits would be totally different..

    • @DEBOSFishing

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yeah, time of year really dictates what I'm picking. It's hard to narrow it down to only 5 picks!

    I agree with you on the Chatterbait choice. I got like 3 new ones from Tackle Warehouse in green pumpkin & 1/2oz . Ned rig is a must. Then I agree with a creature bait. Senko is another great choice. Next my choice is a fluke. I like to go old school #4 or#5 floating rapala in shiner color. Last but not least I like to have a small body prop bait. I live in the south so it can vary from time to condition. Right now it's really bitter cold due to 12 mph winds and temps at around 39° so when it is windy it feels like 32°. If I had to fish with something, it's going to be a finesse worm in junebug and a 1/4 bullethead weight paired with a 3ot ewg hook. I'm going to cast out as close to the middle of the lake or pond and barely shake it like putting salt on your steak, very subtle. Nothing is going to be shallow in this kind of day. That's just the 5 picks I would choose. I can cover pretty much all of the situations that may happen. Next year I'm going to give the underspin more attention. I used to fix my flipping jigs with a small Willow leaf blade or real small Indiana blade connected to a swivel. Back then, I would get weird looks but it worked great. I still have 2 spittin images from back then too. Question Debo.... when I used frogs before, I used to put an split O ring on the tie on to get more of a walking motion. I tried it on my new frog and it didn't seem to work as well. Should I just tie straight to the frog or practice more?? 🤔 And Merry Christmas to you

    • @DEBOSFishing
      @DEBOSFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I always tie directly to the frog. Try walking it with more slack in your line and sharper rod pops!

    • @buzzworth2396
      @buzzworth2396 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DEBOSFishing I've been used to working a frog on a 6 & a half ft rod. Now I'm using my 7' rods and that changes the way you walk a rat or frog. I have trimmed down the legs but not that much. So that makes it harder to perform. I did take off the split ring. When walking a spook it does help but frogs and rats are alot lighter and respond differently. Going today to see if I can catch this beast that's been leaping like a Tarpon. I'm 90% sure its a huge rainbow trout. There's been others that said they saw it up close. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for answering my question. Merry Christmas Debo.

      Just got back from the lake I mentioned. First cast out I nailed a big channel cat. At first I thought I was hung to a stump. I decided to walk to my left to change the angle and then my drag started screaming. Every child for 100 ft. came over to see it. When I got it to the waters edge I actually watched my trileene knot come loose and she took off with my shakeyhead and junebug big TRD worm. That was my only bite & I switched to a jig & Zoom craw in black and blue, of course. Nothing. Terminator spinnerbait with a green pumpkin skirt and Zoom fat Albert curly tailed grub. Even a Scoundrel and a baby bass fluke........ Nothing! After 2 hrs, I threw in the towel and came home. No sign of the beast I was after. So it's done for a little while.

The shaky head and ned rig are baits I always have tied on and with me on the boat here in upstate NY. If the bite is tough can usually pick up a few dinks atleast on those . I really became more confident and quicker to change to a finess technique as this last year progressed . Before I would through a moving bait or jig till I was blue in the face to try and get a bite. I have noticed myself that ihave a couple good outings on a bait and go purchase a bunch of baits in that technique . Then something else seems to work well for a week or two and repeats.
