Honestly, mental health issues? I think the mental health issues came more from parents not raising their children how to handle life, instead replaced integrity with a cellphone. Social anxiety and isolation intensified from social media, not covid. I had some great times during covid. Camped, hiked, went to Florida. I feel covid only validated their reasoning.

Well in a day and age where people make a living off social media, it's not that surprising that a lot of the young ones don't want to go work a 9-5. They're used to things being about convenience and avoiding things that make them uncomfortable, like work. You can't expect a great work ethic from a bunch of people that were raised in a participation ribbon type of household and/or society. He asked how they're supporting themselves- instagram, TH-cam, sugar daddies, only fans subscriptions, emotional/financial manipulation, pay pig fetishes, Etsy/Depop sales, "safe space" scams, not to mention still living off mommy and daddy. Is it all of gen z, no, of course there may be a few exceptions. But it is a hefty chunk lol

I get the fact that people try to make money off their skills but unless they successfully have a impressive outcome they’ll start put themselves behind. I feel like some don’t understand this. There needs to be a continuous amount of effort and success for those to work and actually live off it. That 9-5 is steady, perhaps boring, and it sucks but it brings food to the table, pays the bills, and with enough responsibility you move up on in life even when life gets difficult.

    • @Kevin-jc1fx
      @Kevin-jc1fx ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@JameswiththeClay Another issue is that many 9-5 can't pay one's bills anymore. There are people out there with 2 to 3 jobs that are still struggling. That is one thing that makes people give up if they have an alternative. If they qualify for welfare, they would rather be broke with all their time free than to be working every waking hour and be worse off than unemployed people.

One of my daughter's complaints is that it is to hard to make friends. Jobs do not help they separate. Bosses threaten firing if you develop friendships on the job. I am not talking about just love relationships, but also client friendships; coworker friendships that lead to going out as a group of coworkers to happy hr. or a ball game . Company policies make work very lonely, boring , and pit coworkers against each other not function as a team of people you KNOW on a personal as well as professional leval all the while telling them they must function as a team. It makes the workplace toxic, unrewarding, and as she says, you are in constant fear of overstepping. Work place policies and leadership are very tyrannical. She has had more then one boss tell her " this job isnt about you" " I don't care about your personal life " " i saw on your social media page you were out drinking maybe you need to work harder here so your to tired for that kind of stuff, or that is a poor representaion of the people that work for this company" . That can even be having a drink with dinner, with a friend or coworker, you don't have to be sloppy drunk . Really? Snooping around into personal lives ?
That is not the way things were when I was a young woman . My jobs were fun , my bosses became my friends as did my coworkers, things got done customers came back and they to became friends. I am the grandmother of this generation. We also had full time jobs , instead of having to shuffle 2, 3, or 4 jobs to still not have enough. I agree with these kids in many cases because I would never want to work for tyrants like that. We went out as whole department socially, we had company picnic where people brought their family , love interests or best friend. I never went to work with a knot in my stomach, except one job , I quit that job, there is no need to put up with abuse , and fear on a job . To many do these days .

I'm 56 and honestly never seen such hopelessness in the world and i understand why considering covid was manufactured for very nefarious reasons. I've followed huge amounts of information about the purposeful orchestration of the pandemic from the very beginning and what I've learned has gutted and hollowed me out so i understand anyone's feelings of hopelessness. Many people are in denial and still in a mass formation psychosis mindset (Mattias Desmet) from covid and it's not their fault, as sad as things are now unfortunately it's going to get even worse. The country & world is under serious attack to orchestrate a devastating economic collapse and we're on the precipice of an economic depression, we're also under serious psychological attack especially on children and this is being done by China, the World Economic Forum, the UN & the WHO in coordination with the billionaires of the world. Suffice it to say "climate change", the "green agenda" and "net zero" are all manufactured nonsense to use as the excuses to force people into poverty and homelessness via weaponized inflationary pricing of absolutely everything, the endgame goal is to usher in a socialist/communist system with another goal of severely lowering the population of the planet for the sole benefit of the super wealthy.

For starters, wages aren't compensating for high inflation. Most young people just out of high school end up in low-skill jobs such as retail and fast food; neither of which pay well, and come with a heavy dose of public interaction (something Gen Z is NOT comfortable with or good at). Also, they received a more Marxist style education than Gen X, with Millennials receiving a "soft" Marxist education. Not to say that any of these reasons are good excuses for not wanting to work, but they are symptoms of a bigger economic problem.

Thank you for this eye-opener. Surely, the parents/guardians would want to mention that the ones that they raised are doing something rather than nothing.
Before the pandemic, the "sexual generation" was filling the psychotherapist's office. I can only imagine how it is like to get an appointment now in the post-pandemic era.
Personally speaking, I worked with my adult child. She was paralyzed with fear after high school, and now works two jobs. The maintenance fee to my co-op apartment is not too steep so I work with my adult child. Your situation might be different.
She pays rent to me. I give her breaks in order that she might try to obtain the finer things in life. It is between the parents/guardians and the ones that they raised as to whether the adult child should remain at home- certainly contributing is a must.
Hardly any jobs utilize the paper and pen job application process nowadays. Upload a resume or a CV is used. Professional/academic help might be needed.

Im writing this as Im halfway through the video, so hopefully it's mentioned later on, but I think the focus is misguided. As a millennial, I dont think that gen z's are avoiding the workforce, I think they are learning how money and society works! And with that, comes different actions. It's also realizing that just because you get mental health benefits, it doesn't mean the company prioritized your mental health. And in a job force where it's difficult to live on a 9-5, companies treating employees like they are disposable, and people seeing how mental health affects their livelihood, younger generations are just over it. The risk/ reward isn't great, so why continue the pattern! So many younger people are working to make their own income that has unlimited potential, rather than deal with rude management where you HOPE you get a decent raise. So I'm 1000% for self employment. And I think THAT is what gen z and also millennials are aiming for. Life is meant to be lived. It's not meant to make other companies rich while we give up our lives until "65".

I personally would argue that most young people opt out of or don't even enter the work force is because their financial securities are not met properly.
Speaking from Germany 40.000 €/a would be enough for you and a partner but you would not be able to afford kids properly.
Just for a reference (A flat with 100m² varies averagely between 1000 - 2000€/month -> 12 -24k/a) - Especially in Frankfurt am Main, Munich etc. (Where the Jobs are).
If we were to talk about California you'd need 2 people to make 40.000 $/a to afford the costs concerning the living standards we want for ourselves or partners especially when children are involved.
Some might not agree, but 100k/a as a minimum wage is not far off, if we talk about renting a store room in NYC (a.k.a. supposed to be a flat) except we are talking about just rural living - It is generally not cheap to live in our industrialised countries on the standard we say we want to achieve "for everyone".
If you take in taxes all the insurances etc. to live without being overly rich, but still not having to worry about paying for everything you need or might need especially health care etc. or repairs and spontaneous costs if they should come up spontaneously. 40.000 €/$/a is the last border before having to take credits if something like that happened and again keep you out of financial poverty and we still have not talked about kids and what they need desire and deserve.
