Just replaced mine this week. Gave out on me 5 miles from the house but allowed me to get home in idle speed. Easy to replace.

You say easy to replace? Doesn't it require a press machine to put in?

What tool do you use to install that hub. Must be some kind of reducer adapter to install that type of rubber

Can this cause the motor not to go as fast as it should

Yes! But it's rare unless you've been running the prop through a lot of sand.

I just bought a 64 Johnson 5.5 from Facebook marketplace and it will rev faster in reverse but when I put it into forward and crank on the throttle it won’t rev as high. Wonder if this is why?

So what happens if you damage that rubber or it gets worn out? I can't find the spare part to replace it, even on service manual. It looks like part of the propeller itself, all sold as a single item.

You can take it to a prop shop and they will replace your hub for you. They rarely go bad!

Rather have a shear pin much easier to get going again
