Mannnn you tried this on me in sparring and I caught it and then dumped you......then my alarm went off.
LMAO
And then he ran up to your bed to roundhouse kick you.
"Imagine your leg as if your swinging it like a bat" one of the best advice I had. It help me not "snap" the kick.
cheers!
My lightbuld turned on 8 years ago when my partner said "go through the pads, really visualize it." I visualized it and worked instantly.
Do more of these king
sure can!
Yes 💯
@@MMAShreddedDang, your technique is still worse than a Thai child 😂
@@MMAShreddedhonestly if i were in a close range i wouldnt kick really wide like you show. I would kick almost the same i would knee
You don’t understand how much my level went up by watching these, thank you so much
glad to hear :)
You teach more in your videos than my old overpriced meathead of a coach and I’m very grateful to you for that. You make Muay Thai/MMA education more accessible to people that desire to be a part of it
And you also aren’t a jackass!
thank you!!
Not like a little ," oouiee!!" in that little clip lol 😂
hahaha
😂 that's when the kick is good
When someone says oouuwie they are serious about muay thai 😅
Finally someone who explained it better.
:)
I learned that from bas rutten many years ago perfect technique from you Jeff
thanks man!
Man the sound where you properly hit the bag! OOOOMPH
These short style technique breakdown formats are extremely helpful thank you so much
thanks for the feedback, il do more!
snapping afterwards also helps you bring back your leg
Love that 1 technique format❤
cheers!! :)
You are good u not dropping heand so they can't overheand you like lots of people do and you use weght of your own body with twisting properly. Well done
Funny advice. I usually snap before making contact and I can asure you it generates more than enough power.
Same thing. I thought you swing your kick, then when it's in range THEN you snap the kick.
@@cheshire_skatkat9093 the thing is that there's no right or wrong here. You can throw a kick both ways and make it work. That's why I hate clips as this one. They claim to be absolute while not even telling you half the info you'd need to know. The entire format is just about showing off rather than about teaching a lesson.
Great advice in a short time. Simple and effective
thx!
You turn your hip through your opponent so that when you snap you're making contact. For me this is the easiest way to explain it. Like here you can see that his hips are lined up with the center of the bag before he snaps. This helps with spatial awareness and physical awareness as far as the positioning of your body in relation to your opponent. It's not exactly the same, but that is kind of the policy that I'm used to when it comes to hooks. You bend right before you make contact and then you aim through your opponent. The positioning of your shoulder is very important in regards to how much power you can put through and how you can avoid hurting yourself. Much like the hip and the round house.
Alex Pereira watching this like 🗿
This is brilliant!
:)
Nice 0ne Jeff 👏 Good job! 👍
thx!
if you miss you're done if you kick like that
With the amount of sparring you do. You’re likely up there with the greats in terms of capacity. Props to you Jeff.
Thanks brother!
You can see the snapping before contact in the sparing tho
Your striking clean ash
I am now in my mid 50s , and when I watch you Jeff gets me buzzing and inspired , I just wish I was still like you, but I have few injuries trying to recover from. But the young people of today should follow you and be inspired and train like you do. Also I have noticed you are very open minded about other martial arts and don’t neglect them, just like Bruce Lee! Respect to you for that! ❤
thanks so much for the kind words! I hope you keep training!!!
@@MMAShredded thank you!
You are most kind Jeff.
The secret of a hard ..good kick is to move the supporting foot 90degrees just before impact …Bang !!.
Thanks, oss
no prob!
nice🔧🔥
thanks!!
We need more great explanations like this king
:)
For me that contact then push through helps me reset my leg back. Use the power to push off the bag and reset back to ur fight stance
cheers!
Alex Pierreia kicks like 1st straight up no turning
alex pierreai is on a whole different level bro
Nah, even when he's throwing his calf kicks he is rotating his hip, ever so slightly. He whips his leg at you.
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
what country and state are u in you should come down to Louisville ky at 2 brothers muay Thai
Its like swinging an axe to a tree but its your leg.
Kick number 1 was like Mirco Crocop, Terrible.
Number 2 ok, number .. maybe.
Solid vid
omg thanks, i was doing the second one and kept hurting my foot
Useful info
cheers!
I just tried this , works so well . Thanks fkr the tips (these vids are the best ❤)

Awesome content Jeff , you’re a true warrior !!
thanks man!
Damn boys I've been roundhouse kicking like shit my whole life this is awesome
:)
Heavy bag !!!
Thank you so much Jeff for this content
no prob :)
Love all your posts brother
thank you!!
That actually explains a lot!!! MMA class don’t teach you that
awesome :)
... well long story short: they do. Also there's plenty of ways to throw a roundhouse kick not just the one shown here.
i never even had the option of not doing the tippie toe or full hip rotation simply due to my subpar flexibility. guess that has it upsides 😂
gotta cut the half-rotated diagonal-ish kind of strike kick some slack though. it can be extremely quick to perform and has a solid oomph once you get a feel for whipping it out. it is also very energy efficient.
Great dude and even better coach, keep it up Jeff!
thank you !!!!
Ah ha! Ok that’s really good breakdown! Thanks!
thx!
Nice vid geoffo
thanks!
@MMAShredded my kicks are bad, I lack experience and practise(because life) and this is one of the best instructionals I've come across. Very well explained, very good. This wil definetly help me with correcting my technique. Thanks 👍
Thank you so much for the vid, I come from karate, and I've switched to kickboxing not too long ago. the coach at my gym doesn't explain a lot, and in karate we snap kick all the time, like the 2nd example you've shown. deploy the leg first, and then snap to make contact. Ive been doing that for so long i never questioned it, and I kept seeing that my opponents wouldn't be too hurt by my kicks and I always had my foot so swollen and rly hurt, to the point I had to take breaks because I couldnt kick or move around anymore. Such simple advice but lifesaving for someone who always had a bad habit and never second guessed it😊
Thanks for watching! :)
More! These are great🤘🏼
thanks!
Allsways good tips to make us better thanks you sir 🙏
thx!!
Every of those Guys Hit with the foot. Thats Theorie VS reality
Thanks for clarifying the snap
cheers!
Thanks for the content Jeff 🎉
I have followed your channel for a while and even shared some of the videos to my sparring partners to educate ourselves 🥊
Keep up the great work 💪
hey m an thanks for the support!!
Very nice technique, what is your thoughts on pat barrys style of leg kick, i use that myself, obviously nowhere near as good, but i use it in muay thai and kickboxing, i feel like that kind of leg kick has more power but i feel like it leaves me open, because of how you have to drop your hip a little lower to do his style of leg kick.
don't the hip turn in the same direction as the kick? why does it say the opposite?
I'd rather keep my whole foot grounded instead of being on my tippy toes because it makes it harder for opponents to sweep me, but it does require some flexibility for roundhouse kicks to the head, especially against taller opponents
Nice I needed this 👌🏽
ill make more!
I kick like #2 (Karate base), but power into it like #3. 😊 Gotta condition the top of your feet and keep your toe pointed! [though I will admit, it doesn't crack as hard as a Muay Thai kick (but is less telegraphed].
cheers!
Who’s gonna win: Superbon or Marat Grigorian?
Great video! 100%
thanks!
Highly experienced guys break the rules lol
Swing like there is no leg
I use a pretty thick tree as my heavy bag cuz I don't have one and uhh...I don't think I'm ready to snap my shins in half lol
How convenient, I was working on my kicks yesterday and wondering when would be the right time to snap
:)
i dont understand it, you should snap after you hit the bag?
@@jarivanlennep3979 yes after you make contact. It should kind of "bounce" you off the bag. But I'm sure it will take months to get the timing correctly
@@jarivanlennep3979No, but as you make contact yes.
aaaaaaaaaaaaah tip 3 is the moneyone 👌🏼
Cheers!
Awesome video! Quick question, if you begin the kick by turning hip opposite way wouldn't that be telegraphing?
maybe, but it definitely comes out faster which makes up for the telegraph
I kick like this but it is so difficult to kick at a 45 degree angle when doing padding. How do we overcome that?
your pad holder needs to know how to hold properly!
@@MMAShredded oh alright man thank you so much
Can you show us the Taekwondo roundhouse kick and which one you prefer? Btw, that event with you and all the other fighter channels was INSANE.
i think i’ve been throwing too many of those early snap low power kicks in light sparring and have been building a bad habit, thanks for the reminder
cheers!
Wish you made this a week ago lmao… I got a bad bone bruise sparring the other day because I snapped before making contact
haha all good man! heal up!
Clean ahh kicks
cheers!
Not too long until this channel blows up
I think it has already blown up. 600k+ is alot.
thank you!!
Nice technique
thx!
By snap, do you mean then fully extending the leg and making contact with the foot as well, or retracting the leg after contact?
What MMA styles do you do?
thanks 🙏
( this’ll save knees too )
il make one for knees!
I do boxing but i am extremely interested in learning how to do this stuff
cheers!
Ouch ouch. ❤
cheers!
How do you work on mobility in your hips for this motion ?
frog stretch is a good one!
❤️❤️❤️
This is the way 👍
cheers!
Can anyone explain the thought behind being on the toes on the support foot?
it just gives you more power and helps you pivot!
OohWee!
:)
YO! Where's that sweater from?! I wanna get one.
from glory martial arts center!
I can't turn my hips without it hurting, I gotta kick more like #1
Switch kick demo?
ill see what I can do!!
Awesome, I never see a good kick.
cheers!
Can someone explain how exactly you "snap" when your leg is already in contact with the bag ?
every kick has a snap, im saying dont snap too SOON
@@MMAShredded yeah ok I see what you mean, I'll definitely try that next time
Thats why its called a "roundhouse" kick
Been training for 3 years now, stretching near enough every day. But just can't twist my hips like that. Really is a hindrance to my kicks.
are you pivoting on your foot? Keep up with the stretching, you'll get there!
@@MMAShredded I try to, but doing so sacrifices my hip and leg position. There's like a weird dead zone where the optimal position for my hip rotation is. I can go above it and below it but not where it actually needs to be for a good powerful kick. It's a hard one to explain. But I'll use this video as reference and keep working on the foot pivot and hopefully I can forcefully overcome it. 👍
@@Samlli I'm no expert, but if your not swinging your leg before turning hip, and pivoting on toes. Best way to do is to watch Jeff kick, and keep kicking. The hip rotation is in the kick! Dont overthink it.
You might not be finding the correct balance point. You could try leaning back more and practicing just getting yourself up to the point just before you snap the kick and see if you can't balance there, which is good practice for when your kicks get caught and you're standing on one leg.
The correct way is to pivot on the foot but it's not the only way to roundhouse. There's a few pros who just angle their foot out, or step out, before rotating.
How do you leg kick like Poatan?
Dude looks like MMA version Sonny
haha
I have a question, if you turn your hips the opposite direction are you not telegraphing? How would you set that up to mask the rotation?
any boxing combination!
@@MMAShredded okay, I look forward to trying it out in the gym! Thanks you
What's the purpose of going up on the ball of your foot when pivoting? I've always been taught not to do that but I do karate.
more power. this is a Muay Thai style kick, its just a diff style of kick than karate
🎉🎉🎉
I means.to be clean like that
cheers!
