    This is one of Cronenberg's best movie.
    Cronenberg is the master of 'body horror' and this film really illustrates the concept.
    The movie is more 'horrifying' than horrible. It's the physical decay of Seth that is truly horrifying.
    At first, many critics speculated that the movie was an allegory for AIDS which at that time had become widly known after the death of Rock Hudson, but no, he said it was about old age and how the physical and mental decay of our loved ones getting old affects us.
    The team for the make up and fly animatronic got a very, very, VERY well deserved Oscar for best make up.
    Even almost 40 years later it's grossly impressive.
    But what makes the movie so good and resonating with the public is the touching love story which makes the events unfold all the more heartbreaking.

    Cronenberg has said the film is analogous to having a progressive disease. As a person with MS, this really hits to the core. Having a disease that you know is only going to get worse. Also going through the 5 stages of grief. Shock, disbelief, anger, bargaining, acceptance.

    The Fly 2 is SURPRISINGLY decent, I agree! I think there's a director's cut of it, but I can't remember if it's better than the theatrical version.
    This is one of the best examples of why I think mediocre/bad films should be remade more than classics. The original Fly wasn't 100% awful, but it was suuuuper campy and weird, not that scary or disturbing. (at least in my opinion lol). The Fly, The Blob, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers-- all 50s/60s camp that got remade in the 70s and 80s in spectacular fashion. They took their weird high concept premises and made them into modern horror that wasn't so heavily censored and into something actually written to be horror rather than thinly veiled Red Scare propaganda lol.

      @Cheepchipsable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it was a 50's film, so your view of it would be different.
      When the Lumiere Brothers first started showing film in Paris, it was just footage of a train coming toward the camera. People would scream and jump out of their seats when the train came right up to the camera.
      Even Sidney Poitier said when he first watched movies as a kid in the Bahamas, he would go to the back of the theatre expecting to see the actors and animals used in the film walk out.

    I love this film. It's such a silly concept but it's made without an ounce of humour and if you were to know that before going in, you'd think it would never work. But man, they COMMITTED and it completely works. It's such a sad film, so much wasted potential through recklessness. The performances are just perfect. Weirdly one of my fav bits is when he has his ultimate transformation and the shot follows their feet moving across the floor and it feels like such a 1950s shot. Nice homage to the original. 10/10.

    Some people seem a little annoyed to see this pop up in their notifications a whole “8 DAYS!” before it premieres. Sorry if it bugged ya. We always upload our videos as soon as they are done being edited. This gives the copyright gods time to check it out and we have time to change anything before the release if something pops up.
    Also, this is our first premiere. We weren’t sure how it would work. We understand that this really early notification can be annoying for some. But after some thought it might also be appreciated by a lot. Gives people a week to see the film if they haven’t or maybe watch it again in the next week so they can feel more connected to the viewing.
    Lots of things to weigh going forward. If too many people are annoyed, I guess I can adjust when to schedule the premiere. Of course, that means more work for me as I have to go back to the video and adjust the settings to schedule it as a premiere, when I simply do all the setting stuff during the initial upload. So 🤷‍♂️ lots to weigh.

    in reality, it's impossible for matter to be teleported or travel through time: since fermions are mass particles, they cannot overlap with one another; any attempt to accelerate a fermion faster than light would result in an anti-matter annihilation reaction - as the subject particle would immediately collide with another version of itself
    this reaction is necessary for quantum fields to maintain thermodynamic equilibrium and temporal relative entropy; as well as to foster nucleosynthesis and molecular formation
    bosons, however, can be "teleported" and/or travel through time, since, under certain conditions, they have no mass - which allows them to entangle and overlap with other versions of themselves without incident

    Awesome and creepy movie and interesting facts about The Fly (1986) Several sequences were filmed but cut from the final release, including a sequence where Brundle sends a cat and the surviving baboon through the telepods, resulting in a mutated creature he beats to death with a pipe; a scene where Brundle climbs the outside of his building as an insect limb emerges from his side; and an alternate ending in which Veronica has another dream of her unborn child, this time as a baby with beautiful butterfly wings. Geena Davis wasn't acting when Jeff Goldblum's right ear falls off. Her reaction in the film was genuine and she was genuinely shocked when it was filmed and David Cronenberg kept the take of her reaction in the film. Marky, the barfly whom Seth gruesomely defeats in one-sided arm-wrestling, is played by George Chuvalo, a famous Canadian heavyweight boxer.

    This is the third in the franchise. I know Mrs. Movies would just love “Earth Girls Are Easy!” Fun remayks: you know, I’m not sure…most remakes kinda suck. Of course, there’s some okay ones: “The Omega Man,” “King Kong” (1976, Peter Jackson’s is too long) “Man of Steel,” “Godzilla”1985, 1998 or 2014, “The Birdcage.” Please, no “Robocop,” or “Total Recall,” or “The Day The Earth Stood Still.” Oh! Don’t forget “The Blob!” That one is great!

    1. Banana hungry child was a good piece of comedic relief in the Director's Cut of the film. Haha
    2. This film is amazing. Second best remake after "The Thing".
    3. One quibble is the idea that he'd turn into a fly. Humans and flies share 60% of DNA. It's probably most likely that the fly part would have just become a tiny tumor on his body.
    But then we wouldn't get an awesome movie out of it haha.

      @@YouMeTheMovies i think the thing is that its more than a week away..usually people just have the premiere set a day MAYBE two in advance. now i have to see this on the youtube feed for the next week. i dont think its something to be mad over but maybe consider that for future premieres.

    • @YouMeTheMovies
      @YouMeTheMovies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willwilliamson9580 we always upload our videos as soon as they are done being edited. This gives the copyright gods time to check it out and we have time to change anything before the release if something pops up.
      Also. This is our first premiere.
Of course, that means more work for me as I have to go back to the video and adjust the settings to schedule it as a premiere. So 🤷‍♂️ lots to weigh.
