Drinking Alcohol has been medicinal for litterally thousands of years. It does in fact help with sickness,as it is a blood thinner,a natural disinfectant, and makes you sleep.
Hot toddy was a cure all for most cols and/or flu. Shot of rum or whiskey, sweetened with honey, added to hot water with a squeeze of lemon if your throat was acting up. Sounds weird, but it does the job of cough syrup and decongestants, with the benefits of helping you to drift off to sleep. Not a drink for partying. Most of my generation (40s) grew up with them if you were sick. Oh... and Vicks vapor rub. Pinhead is still my fave cenobyte. Have you guys checked out Clive Barker ' s Nightbreed? So much great stuff packed into that one movie.
The hobo dragon skeleton man at the end is called Eremites, another servants to Leviathan besides Cenobites. An Eremite's job is to take care and distribute the puzzle box all around the realm.

The Female Cenobite is Female Cenobite. Chatter is The Chatterer or even just "Chattering" Cenobite. Hell, Pinhead is Lead Cenobite. They weren't even originally named save for credit listing purposes...
The "Heaven" part is the same as the Hell part. It's a matter of "perspective" and a sadomasochism thing, which Barker is apparently into. For some people, what the Cenobites offer is their idea of paradise. Also, cenobite is a real term for a member of a monastic community (I believe it derives from the same origin as the word convent). Barker refers to Pinhead as the Hell Priest, so the whole thing is a twisted religion.
Your reaction is brilliant, hellraiser is a classic. I watched this when I was 6, that's right 6! Been a major fan of thr first two films all these years, 32 years later. The theme for heaven an hell is all based on the S&M/bondage theme etc, the pleasure an pain aspect. Thanks for reviewing this movie, really enjoyed
I met the guy that played pinhead , he was so nice ! and when they wrapped on the film nobody was talking to him at the wrap party as he was in makeup before everyone and after every one else so no one actually saw him out of make up it took that long to put on the pin head coenobite prosthetics !
There wasn't a reference to heaven. The hell priest (pinhead) said they are "angels to some, Demons to others." That means it depends on your point of view of whether or not you enjoy pain. A person that enjoys pain would see the cenobites as angels.
Om my God! Yes yes and yes. More Hellraiser please and thank you. Great request. Gotta become a patreon. Me and Old Piny go way back.✌ Seriously though, Clive barker is a master of horror. Great reaction. The score was done by Chris Young, a bang for your buck Composer. Very talented.
Centipede lol. Clive Barker famously hated the Pinhead name. The chatterer was my favorite Cenobite too. Hellraiser 4 is my favorite, gives some background on Pinhead, and the space station looks awesome!
"You're so analytical! Sometimes you just have to let art... flow... over you." Nick (William Hurt) in "The Big Chill" Btw, Jesus' middle initial H. is his father's name like in the prayer, "Our father who art in Heaven, Howard be thy name".
I knew the Mrs. would have a pretty visceral reaction to this movie. It's definitely not for the squeamish. However, it's definitely one of the more memorable horror movies of the 80's and Pinhead is such an awesome character. Doug Bradley is such a cool guy to meet at a horror convention if you ever get the chance. Same with Ashley Laurence.
Centipedes, Cenophiles, you'll get it right, my favorite is the female Cenobite, she's just had a creepy sinister look, i didn't like the way she looked in the sequel though.
The original actress, Clive Barker's cousin, is apparently a drama teacher now. She legitimately HATES the film, and is ashamed of it. I don't know if she is overtly religious, though Clive said he had a devoutly religious side to his family, which sparked his interest in heaven and hell, pleasure and pain. It may have been a family favour, as many of the British cast were Clive's mates from his college/uni days...
The book Hellbound Heart better demonstrates the fine line between pleasure and pain that Frank is seeking. It's hard to visually demonstrate. The booknis super short, and the 2nd movie isn't based on anything. For me, the 2nd is the only good sequel. Expands the world and characters.
I like 2 as well, and the introduction of this cosmic being Leviathan. Personally I also like the 3rd movie (though I agree it couldv'e been made better), going into the creation of the puzzle box and the ending with the descendant creating a giant version to trap Pinhead. Anything beyond that is absolutely crap.
I always appreciate that this film, in comparison to a lot of other 80's horror films places a much heavier emphasis on the human characters and making them engaging, you aren't just bored waiting for Pinhead and his crew to show up. It's in that sense got a great old school gothic story aesthetic with the morally complex characters, there just also happens to be hell priests that rip people apart with chains. The sequel and the book does flesh out some of the details like the Cenobites and Frank's motive, but I feel this film does a fine job at giving just enough for it to be intriguing without being overly vague. Plus the Cenobites as these dark yet morally ambiguous forces of nature who still have clear rules for how they work I always really liked; if you run into them you're screwed, but you have to actively summon them in order to encounter them, as long as you don't do that you're safe, it's not like Freddy Krueger where the rules get pretty vague even by the ending of his first film.
😆 girly I almost peed my pants when you yelled pervert! OMG 😸 your handsome husband just looks at you with his eyes filled with love. You two are so cute and funny together.
The chains part of this movie was one of scariest part of any horror movie I seen through my childhood, and I am 80s kid.... I seen lots of them... And the line "we have such sites to show you" remain with me for a long time.
I had a chance to purchase one of these puzzle boxes at a horror show a few years back, but my wife would not let me even after I told her "It's just a puzzle box."
The real monsters are Frank and Julia. They murdered for their own benefit. The Cynobites are just demons serving Hell doing what they do with no real feelings one way or the other. The evil motives are what make the villains.

"Who drinks brandy when they are sick?" "Should we start doing that?
Yes, because she seems like a good role model to learn new habits from. ;)
@@AndieO I've actually had that before when I had a sore throat back when I was a kid.
"When he's not collecting faces for the devil..." sounds like an amazing tag line for a movie 😂
Hellraiser 2 is better, but being that she doesn't like hell related stuff, she won't like Hellbound.
hellraiser 2 has a scene that icks even me a gore hound out the matress scene
@callmecatalyst oh yes..its a LOT.ii love horror and gore but its just a LOT. fun fact the man was played by skinless frank in the first movie ;)
ESPECIALLY if you watch the unrated version. Yeah... that mattress scene is a bit brutal!
"I like a girl in sweatpants"
"That's right"
🤣🤣
"I like a girl in sweatpants" This guy knows what's up.
Know how you can tell this is an authentic first time viewing? She called them centipedes 😂
The hobo dragon skeleton man at the end is called Eremites, another servants to Leviathan besides Cenobites. An Eremite's job is to take care and distribute the puzzle box all around the realm.
Her: i hate movies about hell and demons!
Me- remembering the movies that are still coming!
Me- in Pinhead's voice: "We Have Such Sight's to Show You!!!" 💀
The other Cenobites that come with Pinhead...
The one that appeared first is *Chatter*
The female Cenobite is *Voice box*
The Fat one with Kewl looking round sun glasses is *Butterball*
The Female Cenobite is Female Cenobite. Chatter is The Chatterer or even just "Chattering" Cenobite. Hell, Pinhead is Lead Cenobite. They weren't even originally named save for credit listing purposes...
I saw this film as a kid and afterwards I threw my Rubik's Cube away.
The theme for hell *,heaven in this universe is still the biblical kind.
😂 i started yelling "pivot" at the exact same time.
I met the guy that played pinhead , he was so nice ! and when they wrapped on the film nobody was talking to him at the wrap party as he was in makeup before everyone and after every one else so no one actually saw him out of make up it took that long to put on the pin head coenobite prosthetics !
You, Me & The Movies has such sights to show you!
Me and Old Piny go way back.✌
Seriously though, Clive barker is a master of horror. Great reaction. The score was done by Chris Young, a bang for your buck Composer. Very talented.
Her screaming pivot during hellraiser is amazing!!!
Pivot Kirsty … PIVOT!!!
Centipede lol. Clive Barker famously hated the Pinhead name. The chatterer was my favorite Cenobite too. Hellraiser 4 is my favorite, gives some background on Pinhead, and the space station looks awesome!
I have the Chatterer Funko
"You're so analytical! Sometimes you just have to let art... flow... over you." Nick (William Hurt) in "The Big Chill"
Btw, Jesus' middle initial H. is his father's name like in the prayer, "Our father who art in Heaven, Howard be thy name".
My grandma would always have a brandy or a whiskey when she was ill, “medicinal purposes” was her reasoning, helped cut through the sickness, lol.
A lot of cough syrup use to have alcohol, so it makes sense it would help.
this is some funky sheet right here ''HELLRAISER'' is a mad thing big up to my dude pinhead we hitting 30k tonight @Mr & MrsMovie ...lets go !!
When she said needleface she's thinking of stan helsing.
Appreciate the hail Mary's after hereditary even tho I'm not really religious just more comfortable afterwards and great channel.
I'm Italian.. I watch your video reaction, I wanted to thank you for these beautiful reactions...always keep it up!!!
Thank you so much for watching them! Love having you here hanging out with us!
That hobo at the 15 minute mark looks like Happy Gilmores Caddy.
The book Hellbound Heart better demonstrates the fine line between pleasure and pain that Frank is seeking. It's hard to visually demonstrate. The booknis super short, and the 2nd movie isn't based on anything. For me, the 2nd is the only good sequel. Expands the world and characters.
Yeah the book is great
the book is so insanely entertaining! huge fun
@@xen0bia the descendent one is the 4th one in space.. the 3rd had jadzia dax in
Yeah the 1st and 2nd Hellraiser are the only good ones, the rest are trash
Larry was played by Andrew Robinson who played the villain in the original Dirty Harry
Perhaps that was heaven she opened it to.
The paradise is carnal pleasure; that's it.Hell is everything else.
"I do love a Jigsaw."
Did you guys see Saw?
5:44 - Exactly what I was thinking. 😂
This movie was filmed in England but they wanted it to be in America. That's why you have British people with badly dubbed American accents 😆
Such a beautiful and wholesome love story.
« Oh no, the centipedes are back » 😂
The chains part of this movie was one of scariest part of any horror movie I seen through my childhood, and I am 80s kid.... I seen lots of them...
And the line "we have such sites to show you" remain with me for a long time.
Sights. He's not showing you his internet history. Though that would be interesting...
I definitely got the "Ross" reference 🤣
It’s based on a horror story and filmed in the uk but dubbed to sound American lol
“The Exorcist is nothing but a glorified cartoon” - Doug Bradley 🤘🔥
Just a guy who knew where his bread was buttered.
"That needleface guy" So close!
Oh wow you're watching Hellraiser? This is gonna be good
She didn't like it!
"PIVOT!!!! PIVOT!!!! PIVOT!!!! SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UUUUPPPP" "FRIENDS" 🤣🤣
I love body horror! This was the first body horror movie I’ve ever seen, I was grossed out at first, but then I loved it! The effects were so amazing at the time!
Needle Face and the Centipedes? It's quite a good name for a band.

Love your comment ❤
The "Eww Eww Eww Eww" during the finger part had me rollin!!!
The boxes aren't necessarily a puzzle to solve, but rather a door to open, with combination lock attached to it..... The Lament Configuration I believe 21 sequences or as 📍 pinhead puts it pathways, to unlock.
Favorite Cenobite is probably Deep Throat/the one played by the female actress they're just mesmerizing
I believe demon guy became to be known colliqually on the streets as "Pin Head". Nice "Friends" reference! Made me laugh! 😆❤️
