The idea of this movie is so interesting, I really want to see someone do a more serious interpretation of it some day. Like, the first manned mission goes to Alpha Centauri and because of some plot McGuffin the scientists back on Earth have no idea the planet they chose is inhabited by an alien species and where they land happens to be very similar to 1950's America right after the first big alien invasion entertainment program came out. Queue shenanigans and mass hysteria, eventually ending in mostly peaceful first contact and a funny story to tell their grandkids for all involved. If the Rock played the, or one of a set of astronauts, that would be even better.
@@muhammadarifbillah984 I've seen a fair few episodes of Farscape, some of Stargate, and a decent chunk of one of the Star Treks. Can't say I've seen one particularly close, I certainly like all three of those at least. I just don't remember any episodes that had an alien planet with people that are at a similar but not quite tech level to the 1950s and had a recent surge of alien invasion flicks. That being said, if you know of an episode of any of the above... I will certainly check it out for... research... *reaches for popcorn*
@@TheSp0kesman well obviously they are not the exact same but it's in that general premises. For Farscape that would be the "I, E.T." episode. For Stargate, the most notable one is either "Memento" or "Bad Guys" from season 10, and "Ethon" but you have to watch the whole Tegalus and Ori plot to understand the context. I'm sure there was a bunch of them in Star Trek but I can't seem to remember the name, I would just go with the star trek enterprise "Civilization" from season 1. For The Orville there was "All the world is a birthday cake", "Majority rule", "Mad Idolatry", and "If the star should appear".
@@muhammadarifbillah984 I don't know the episodes, BUT I know the cartoon Buzz Lightyear of Star Command had at least two episodes with a setting like this. Planet Roswell, literally classic 'little green men' (not to be confused with LGMs from the same show) in a 1950s style society... the first episode was this classic set up of 'one of the crew is considered an alien by the natives then later escapes but not before making a friend'... then the later episode has Zurg invading the planet and taking over, forcing the team to go rescue the planet.
Hey, I wouldn't mind a sequel. One where Chuck and Lem they visit Earth. Maybe Kiff meets a human girl who likes comic books and sci-fi movies. Chuck becomes more high-profike and teaches Lem about Earth more. Then a third alien race could have its sights set on Earth and both species work together again to fight the threat and overcome the same fear of aliens from Earth that Lem's people had of Chuck. That kinda stuff.
And Avatar the last airbender where the characters are Asian and indigenous while most of the voice actors were white only some were POC but it all ended up matching really well
I particularly like the shots at 0:56 and 1:06. After being mistaken for an invader from a sci-fi flick throughout the film, the man in a spacesuit is shown standing over the general and carrying him not as a movie monster, but as a savior and a hero. This is essentially the final nail to the preconceived notions the population and the army held.
I Love This Movie alot like why doesn't it get much love it's outstanding film about a human comes to a alien planet doesn't it get much intersting than that like come on why can we ever get another movie to this it could deserve a sequel for real.
This was such an underrated movie. Had me confuse anbit because i needed to understand why its the 50s but its 2000s in the Rocks timeline. The. Afterwards I learned about time and space
I prefer the Greek dub for one reason. It's the only time where both people behind Lightning McQueen are in the same movie. Specifically: Sakis Rouvas(Cars trilogy and "Mater And The Ghostlight") voices Chuck and Petros Spyropoulos(Cars Toon shorts and Cars On The Road) is Skiff.
i honestly wonder if all those ring systems and moons would even be stable......... most likely unless the planet is massive enough. all the various rings of the planet and moons and all those moons likely would not be stable. long term.

They've done similar plot multiple times in Stargate, Star Trek, Farscape, and The Orville

Through this whole clip, I’ve been like; “How the *hell* is that Dwayne Johnson?!?!”
Maui saves the life of Lord Shen
How in heck does Hotel Transylvania have four sequels in this point in time while this is the only one...actually thats probably a good thing.

@@ericmiller1987Planet 52?
Initially, it was planned to make a sequel for this but due to movie's bad critic, they scrapped the idea and left this as a stand-alone film.
@@finlandguy427 what would the sequel be titled as? Planet 52?
It's better to love movie and want more than actually get more and see the quality of further movies degrade
The four of them are technically the first astronauts of their species, tho the other one is knocked out
Some movies are just better off being one movie. Look at Megamind.

I think you responded to the wrong comment, bud.
Its weird, a Human from Earth in modern time encounters a planet of aliens that is living like earth's 1950's.
Bro… I never knew the rock voiced him and I found out thru tic tok today 💀 I can’t believe this
@@LuvK24 And to think, I'd always thought the first time I heard his voice was as the Autobot Cliffjumper in Transformers Prime.
When he doubt it that he couldn't fly his ship manually, he shown to be able to know how to fly it manully quite well. He overcome his self-doubt.

Chuck is a Hero!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I watched this movie when I was four and how cheesy it is its still a pretty solid movie to this day.
@rainbowbarfup9924 a... headphones icon?
This movie needs a sequel ASAP!!!😩🤧😭
Tittle: "Return To Planet 51" Maybe??.

How about a crossover between the Mitchells vs the machines and planet 51?
A reboot that tries to take the premise seriously, then maybe a sequel.

They should make a second movie about real aliens that really want to invade 😭😭
I just found out that's Dwayne Johnson I always thought it was Chris Pratt or something
If their was an Alien Race like this I wouldnt Mind being the First to Make a Interspecies Family
