Electric vehicles (EV) can be used to stabilise a power grid and prevent a blackout, a study by the Australian National University has found. One of the report's case studies saw 16 EVs were able to backfill a power gap caused by a generator failure and keep the lights on for many homes in Canberra. Lead researcher Bjorn Sturmberg says the finding is 'a sign of the future'.
