      @@kohsmoger1567 If you still believe the BS narrative that Luka has no defense, you’re a complete casual and a ESPN takes merchant! You saw the worst version of Luka in the finals, dont let ESPN fool you. Luka’s injuries got too much so he had to rely on team defense instead of 1v1 for two reasons: a. to conserve energy for facilitating offense and scoring b. that was their gameplan the whole playoffs is to lure the attacker to the help defender so naturally he’ll let em blowby and switch to the other player. I suggest you watch a yt channel called "Awful Coaching” where he had a couple videos praising and analyzing Lukas defense during the OKC/Clippers series and Mavs strategy into winning games. As someone who watched full mavs games all season Luka is "GOOD” at defense this season and oftentimes a GREAT defender when he really tries. Stats show you he was a good defender all season. If you watch Mavs Ball yk He was playing the best defense of his life this season and in the playoffs, specifically Clippers/OKC series that guys were shooting 2/17 fg when guarded by Luka. He had a great all around defensive year before he got injured right before the playoffs and you can tell it just got too much in the Finals that he had to take painkiller injections before each game. He needed to conserve energy more than ever to make the injury bearable, also to facilitate and score cuz all of a sudden no one can. He had to rely on team defense but Boston was just too good and they lost. If Dallas had faced a team like the 2023 heat and not a superteam they would’ve won! But they lost so the narrative shifted again and just blame it all on Lukas defense cause thats easy right, when his literal teammates couldn’t make shots to save their lives and most of em choked! All I can say to all Ignorants out there is to expect a more focused and determined Healthy Luka at both defense & offense next season

      The thing that elevates him, is also the thing that holds him back. He has a great team around him, making it so that he's able to make deep playoff runs, but it also means sacrificing his stats. From a pure talent perspective, I think Tatum is in the first tier, but he can be inconsistent which is a hurdle for him cementing himself there. I do think that he needs to get off-season surgery for his wrist though, he mentioned that it was fractured before, I would assume that's probably what's hampering him for his consistency.

      Man are you thick…
      The 25 year old is currently better than the 20 year old? WOW, shocking.
      The question is who do you want to start a franchise with - meaning who do you want for the next 8, 10 (or more) years. That is not even a contest.
      1) Wemby is already awesome, at 20 (like Luka was). He’s a game changer right now.
      2) His ceiling is as high or higher than any player in history. That is not an exaggeration. He has the potential to be (easily) the best defender in the league and a top 5 offensive player at the same time, and to do so in his early 20s.
      3) Luka is one of the best offensive players I’ve ever seen, but will never be even a top 40 defender. Defense is literally half the game.
      4) Contracts really matter, especially with the new CBA. Wemby is locked in to a rookie contract for the next 3 years, while Luka is making >$40 mil and will likely get a supermax extension as soon as he’s eligible (literally next offseason). Under the new CBA, having multiple players making the supermax will make it very hard to build a team without filling it out with bargain basement salaries. Having 3 more years before you have to pay Wemby the Supermax is extraordinarily valuable to a franchise because it allows them far more firepower and flexibility to add big time pieces around him. It also means that his supermax would hit its highest numbers as the new TV deal money balloons the salary cap, meaning that it will be easier to retain the other expensive talent you add around him than it would be if it started earlier.
      This really isn’t a contest. Wemby is by far the best answer for starting a franchise.

  • @MaelstromEnergy
    @MaelstromEnergy 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    As Spurs fan, the best realistic scenario I have for this season:
    -Spurs are a lot more competitive, don't quite make the play-in
    -Castle shows real potential for a rookie PG. He will get a lot of time at that role with CP3 not playing a full season/30+ minutes a game
    -Wemby cuts down turnovers and starts to hone in on his 2 or 3 pet moved
    -Spurs get THREE lottery picks (Spurs, Hawks, Bulls) that they can trade for a superstar level player, develop, or both depending where those lotto picks are

      @MrShaad316 I was thinking of KD, lol. Booker had one good year as far as playoffs go. Fluke year. He's been a first - or 2nd round exit every other year. He's a great 2nd option. Defenses have been picking him apart in the playoffs since then. The Dallas series is a perfect example. As soon as they figured out all they needed to do is trap him and CP3, the series was a blowout. He's a worse Ray Allen. There is nothing wrong with being a 2nd option in the NBA, but no one is picking him to build their franchise around in a draft style like this.

For me, if i was starting to a franchise I would want the guy with the best potential who was under 22 and that would be Wemby not just because of the growth in physical talent but also his mindset. Happy if I had Luka but there are others that I would likely pick ahead of him as each person /GM will give different weights to different skills including their view of non- physical matters

      Tatum leads celtics to the finals with one of the best regular and post season records ever in nba history...then the collective states "he didn't have a great post season run, he's not in the top tier of guys." This is when I turn it off and listen to the pros content.

    • @jgates9786
      @jgates9786 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      There's levels to superstars. Tatum's a top-10 player in the league, which is obviously elite, but there's a number of guys that you can confidently say that are better than him (Jokic, Luka, Embiid, Giannis, etc.).
      Obviously the Celtics postseason record is incredible in a vacuum, and not to take anything away from them, but it came against the weakest Eastern Conference in perhaps the last 10-15 years. Not to mention Tatum wasn't even the best player on the Celtics in that run.
      Tatum v. Ant is certainly closer than you might think. Although Tatum has the edge today, he's also had the benefit of playing on vastly superior teams than Ant over the course of his career
