@@tiyenin do you mean play the drum set? It's so that the drumline can have a metronome without actually having to use one because a drumset sounds cooler.
@@tiyenin He is the percussion head. He is a professional drummer, and this is just his thing. MysticFlame hahahahahahaha how many dirty rolls and poor technique can you handle when watching middle school lines? This is the best remedy for that, by far
After the basses finished that first split opener and joined in with the flam jam, it sounded so sick. It was like the line was missing something then boom the bass hits in and everythings complete.
@@averybondeson3322 I'm pretty sure there is tension on the bass drum: if there wasn't, it wouldn't be able to vibrate or be played in general. (Have you ever hit a non-tensioned drum? It kills the momentum from the stick/mallet and probably damages the head. It's like hitting a pillow with a stick, but not quite as bounceless.) Not sure about the head fighting against the mallet, but that doesn't make sense either.
Pay attention to the way they interact with each other. Take note of how each player seems to build off of the other in what they’re playing to make a full and complex beat. Also take note of eye contact and fluid hand motion. Drum set is also nice touch.
Wow... such a talented group of percussionists. Between the stick work and staying on beat with the drum set... it's just amazing. These guys have a bond like no other for sure. It would be hard for me to believe they just picked random drumline guys and threw them in the mix. The coordination between them is just amazing. Simply amazing, I'd love to hear some of their cadences.
WOW! Y’all men got down! Reminds me of 99’’ when I used to play. We were very crisp and coordinated like this. Y’all fellas rocked it out! Nice to see this. I appreciate you posting.

Stupediously tight, as for that slow beat :O. Never mind a warm up, this was some of the best drumming I've heard. Coingratulations to the boys on being seriously good at what they do.
Dang this is such a good exercise for creativity. Something like this needs to be played in every drumline. Creativity/flow can be sorely lacking when you age out even though you can throw down some sick chops.
It still amazes me how they are all playing different things and at some point they come together. Currently, my high school is writing something similar.
I love how dci works! Center 7 (almost) age out on snares then end snare becomes center 3 this is why I love it most of the time but it is sad for them to go especially Rue nanni nah on quads
I know this is about the drumline, but the kick and snare on that kit sound amazing.
Ben Funk I know right
Why does this coach do that? Seems self-aggrandizing.

Bass 5 pulling it through with that non-existent rebound
Bass 5 might as well be hitting a tarp
Bloo tunes their basses pretty high so there’s probably good enough rebound to do rolls

That unmic'd 2-piece kit in the middle of a field sounds better than my fully mic'd 5-piece kit in my studio XD
Compression from grass and camera :chefs kiss:
0:45 notice how Ruel doesn’t do any stick tricks. He was just dayyyyuuuum groovy.
Those drum two shots pierce my soul
