The guy in the burger king hat is the spirit animal of anyone who has ever heard the bluecoats play.... ever
Hes the souvie kind, he promotes the bluecoats and sells merchandise
LOL these comments are funny
@@AndyGuyCantYouLiftForLife yyk! Ugg hu y
Rue Nani Nahh's spirit animal
This comment didn’t age well
someone needs to give the janitor a raise. this is so clean
smooth comment
This video is the greatest thing I've ever seen. It solved my marital problems, I lost 10 pounds while watching it, and my cat just told me he'll stop pooping in the living room. Great footage DrumCorpsTube!
WTAF
Logan Thomas it got me a 6 figure job and I found Christ from it
The bluecoats have everything, from a beefy book to clean rolls... they even got Jesus to play set and keep time!
The drumset really helps to contextualize the music. When there's just the click, book music sounds a little dry, because it is written to serve the music. The drumset provides a musical context and the book music really comes out because of that. It's much easier now to hear the groove and what the book music (without the other instruments) is trying to say.
Great video. This really showcases this skills you've honed as a videographer over the years. Plus, your audio setup fits like a glove for this warmup--clean and punchy. Also, I know little about drumming, but sounds like some really tight musicianship--and yes, I really dig the drum set. The downbeat really promotes active listening for us non-drummers.
Really have enjoyed watching this program grow every year. Whatever you're doing don't stop!
3:24 and 3:29 displays some smooth freaking drumming. Incorporating switches into the music
What do those switches do?... I've always wondered
+Zachary Rodgers they do something to the sound. One sound makes it sound more hollow and spacey
They're vents that increase the dynamic range and change the timbre of the sound: usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/marching/accessories/marching_accessories/may_acoustic_eq/
That is one of the coolest parts I've seen in awhile
Back when times were simpler
I've been waiting for this thank you so much
An inspirational wave, picture how many are marching after seeing this for the first time
Mad respect for these guys
Yeah! Tenors bringing back the 2010 nunchuck visual at 7:15.
Ben Cooley HAHA I know right!
k hk And 2013.
+Ben Cooley I THINK Cavaliers used it first in 2004.
Never noticed that.
What an amazing season and such a crazy week, post tour depression is seriously hitting hard lol, Thanks again for the amazing videos, you just get better with each year!
Such a perfect line this year. they quite literally BLOOOOO me away.
I still come back to this video every year LOL
That drum set keeps the energy high all. The time. I love it xD
That was outrageous! I need to practice more
Such an underrated year for both the line and the book. Too bad BD still gets all the attention despite reusing so much of their old books. Tom Rarick is rocking out here
Just what I was waiting for thank you so much :)
Coats were beyond clean this year. Great video.
Some of the best battery writing I’ve ever heard. Drum tunings are absolute butter
Wow! Awesome vid for the best drumline of 2015!
Unbelievable!! That bass line is smooth as silk!!!
0:45 - I never noticed that tick and recovery after all these years.
Roger is a genius for using the drum set instead of the metronome.
absolutely and indisputably the best DCI drumline of 2015. if only they had the inside connections that BD does..
You do realize that pit is also factored into the score, right?
i love this video!! omg
God damn..
So clean!
At 3:06 you can hear the snares sing the alphabet
thats their vocal in the ballad before the drum break lol i know how to play the wholoe thing it took me like a week
Thomas Ferguson Good for you, bud...
4:30 HOLY $h!+ TOP 2 BASSES
seriously this is everything i aspire to be as a bass drummer
It would be cool if they recorded with a 360 view camera so we could watch the section we want
5:25 - Bass 3 should tone it down a bit or I might have an accident
And thank you for playing on Yamahas!!
Devastatingly clean
Can't wait for the warmup video! I think you got a shot of me!
Souvie King is feeling himself at 0:20
Lucas Norrington YES!
the quad to the right at around 3:58 gets his stick stuck and recovers like a boss. also that split quad solo
ive watched this so many times lmao
haven't we all
2:31 best rim shot facial expressions
3:00-3:30 is my favorite part of this whole video
I come back and watch this too much lmao
5:57 is my favorite part of their whole show
lol set the speed at 2 and goto 2:55
Nice vid man
TENORS THAT WAS PERFECT
Cleaner than a bottle of dawn
How many gallons of hair gel do you think the Blue Coats drumline uses in a season?
Crossfire Detroit that's just built up sweat that reduces under the sun lol
Crossfire Detroit no it's gel
as many times the blue devil's have gotten first 😂😂
@@josiahleonard5958 that's not a measure of volume
I'll ask my band director, he's the third snare on the right
The tenor split😍😍😍
3:23 gives me goosebumps because I can hear the hornline behind it lol
It took me 30 minutes to watch this video because I kept rewinding because WOW. This book is so dang tasty.
Bass 2 is now our bass drum tech with my high school drum line CJB
Bass 3 teaches my schools bass line
+Caden Varley what school
+XNikolasX Sycamore High School, near Cincinnati
Caden Varley Mike (Bass 2) is our tech at Centerville High School (CJB) in Dayton
this solved my ocd permanently.
i need this music
Got to love seeing Andrew Novak creeping behind those basses.
someone please tell me, what snare drum, what heads and snares were used for that drum kit. holy crap, best snare sound I've heard imo.
At Prelims I was right next to the tenor on the end. I could literally just touch the tenors if I wanted to. I got a picture of me sitting right next to him though. :D
i love 5:15 to the end of the feature the best
Daaaaaammmmmmnnnn!
I didn't know John Oliver played bass drum for the Bluecoats
Trevor Moran
Common mistake. That’d be me.
Souvie King in the front row😂😂😂
MY BOYSSS MY SONS
What is the silver thing the snares swipe on their drums starting at 3:23
sheet music for snare/tenor feature?
Someone have a transcription of Oper of this? I'm dying for learning it!
Michael Guzmán Go to Erick Hintons play through of it and he should have it in his description. Or simply Google it and look for hours on snare science
I honestly like last years feature mre
The only thing I hate about them incorporating the vent switches is during the actual show they were at the back field and you couldn't see it really in the show. They should have had them up front showcasing that bad ass part. Cause it is smooth AF!!! 3:24 TO 3:30 mark
3:20 what are the little levers the snareline are manipulating for? never seen anything like this
60 fps is too real for me
in a good way
the best line in 2015..easy
That Tenor line was KWISPY
I tried to figure out how they did it I know how Its just really complicated
That was absolutely incredible, I think I detected some pretty substantial dirt at 8:10 coming out of the triplets, the tenors and snares weren't together, but that has to be the camera cuz these guys are way too freaking good
Sam Shoemaker nah they do play dirty sometimes
Is that JD funcorps by the quads
Are the switches on the top rim for the top snare gutz? Could someone explain that, I've only used Pearls with bottom snares.
They flick them at 3:20 after the tenor feature. Thanks!
If I'm understanding your question correctly, they do. In the early millennium Yamaha came up with adding snares right below the top head, which is that lever they are pushing and pulling. Dynasty later followed that same concept. 1) I have the diagram on my wall back at my parents home. 2) my younger brother saved his money and bought a Dynasty snare replica of the 2003 Blue Devils, which ScoJo autographed.
Actually, they're vents that increase the dynamic range and change the timbre of the sound: usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/marching/accessories/marching_accessories/may_acoustic_eq/
But close! Yamaha did make top snares on marching snares for a while, but these were introduced. Yamaha has since discontinued them (probably due to a lack of demand), so the Coats didn't use them in 2016.
how.........did they not win high percussion????? This was THE most difficult book out there!
VERY debatable dude. BD was playing stuff NOBODY plays. Look past the hype.
The real question is why Vanguard didn't take it.
Yeah dood, have u seen vanguard's book? That shit gave me a tumor
The guy right of the center got same HANDS
What is that thing on the snares around 3:30 ???
THAT THIRD BASS THO
Anyone know if Mike Davis (center snare) aged out this year?
Yeah he did. It's on his Instagram @dikemavis
Why the keys on the neck?
4:31 hand to hand?????
Right quad at 4:00, I feel that pain
Nic Rundell oof I noticed that toi
2:39 So savage!
2:48 “hell yea”
One of the snares messes up at 0:45. I've probably seen this video 40 times and i final noticed an error
Of course its the center snare this year.
The center quad looks similar to Flying Lotus.
The snare drummer second from the left looks like a tall Rod/Todd Flanders.
SON!
Why in every lot video are there police cars with sirens on
5:02 is that rue nani nahh in the middle? in the tenor section
who does the snare on the ends switch at 3:29
I would guess that he did it because they all had their hand to the side and he probably took that chance to open the vents
What are those snare switches and what do they do I can't tell a difference in sound
Turn on and off guts.
Actually, they're vents that increase the dynamic range and change the timbre of the sound: usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/marching/accessories/marching_accessories/may_acoustic_eq/
dat squib at 3:29 doe
You can hear every note!!!!
is it just me or does his drum sound low af 4:45
Who comes up with the body work? Staff or Members?
yes
No encore video this year? :(
JPitt1070 There are countless videos coming, don't worry.
CGI is getting amazing...there's no way this is real footage!
what are those things on the snare rims at 3:30 that they are flicking?
Evan baker I think they were engaging and disengaging the snares under the top head. Not too sure. I was a tenor player haha
Air vents, it changes dynamics. usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/marching/accessories/marching_accessories/may_acoustic_eq/
Nathan Winters cool never seen that before
what type of carriers do they have
+cj johnson type mapex/Yamaha carriers they are like the others but with the back piece I call em whale tails but im sure they have a real name
Randle may carriers. On the back is the articulating back support (ABS) which promotes better posture and makes it easier to carrier the drums, especially for longer periods of time. But they can be a real bitch to put on
