I'm an ex-cop and I promise you that not one of these cops give a flying shit what the auditor is saying. Cops don't care about your rights, they don't care about their rights and they don't care about the legal postion of anyone in this encounter. Not one shit.
When you are dispatched on a job, you have two aims. Arrest whoever needs to be arrested and clear the job. If you can't must enough probable cause to sign a PC affidavit, then all you care about is clearing the job. And to do that, the approach is very simple - There's a guy in the post office and if he is not in the post office any longer, the job is cleared and you can go. So get him out and leave. If rights are violated, or some law isn't followed, it doesn't matter. You've cleared the job and you can go. Someone else can deal with the legal stuff.
The ONLY concern is if you have enough PC. That's the ONLY thing you will get in trouble for - if you arrest someone, you sign an affidavit of PC and that's a document that will be entered into court. Knowingly signing a PC without enough PC can be construed as perjury, so that is ALL you are ever worried about. Not rights, not the 1st Amendment, just the PC affidavit.
make a complaint and they don't care about that, either. 9 times out of 10 your Sargent or union will cover your ass. Just the PC.
So throw the guy out, arrrest him for 'disorderly' or 'resisting' if you need to and then go.
It's why I left the police after less than 2 years. It's soul destroying.

When they say, "You try being a cop." It's not that one can't be a cop physically. It's that some people have a heart and conscious. A good cop can't exist in a department because good cops get pushed out or they're retaliated against. They'd rather have a uneducated tyrant than an actual good officer because of all the protection they have. This mentality will not stop until settlements start coming from their pockets instead of the taxpayers.
I keep trying to tell people your rights don't mean nothing to these police officers. They can still take you to jail if they want to. "I'm suing" So?? That doesn't mean squat. The police officer will still have their job, and you will be detained. You'll be released from jail in a few hours or less.

I went to see how much a tattoo cost and was shocked to be several hundred to over a thousand. Either these cops are paid way too much or they are dealing and stealing. I consider their appearance to tell me that they are probably very trustworthy by a factor of 5. of course 5 X 1 is only 5 and a long way off from coming close to 70 % passing grade. captain howdy scored over 80 % so he's an ex-leo

That post office supervisor just got fired and the post office and officers sued.
The supervisor just committed 3 crimes:
He violated someone's constitutional rights,
He filed a false police report on behalf of the post office,
He closed the doors during business hours, trapping people inside.
Proof? Simply asking.
You can't lock the door with people inside. What if there was a fire and everyone who were inside did
If the postal service allows offices like this to close their doors and shut down, then all postal employees have the right to go on strike as they allow shut downs.

I thought the same thing! When the supervisor showed up the guy with the camera talked for 5 minutes before he gave the guy a second to respond. It's that nervous chatterbox situation and, other than being wrong about the law, these cops were pretty patient with him because he did not shut up.
SGT had a lot of patience listening to every thing the auditor said without saying a word.

No postal employee has authority to overide the rules of conduct written in poster 7. That document is controlling and anyone in the postal service that causes peoples rights violated when poster 7 constrols is liable for all harm caused and so is the postal service as a whole for not addressing this ongoing issue.

Local police have no jurisdiction on federal property unless they have a signed contract between the Postmaster General in Washington and the Department of Homeland Security otherwise only the postal inspectors/feds have jurisdiction there.

If you keep reading, it reads “EXCEPT where prohibited by sign, Security Force, or authorized personnel. Any employee can prohibit it. Also, trespass laws do not differentiate between public and private facilities.
