I hope they keep this series mostly self contained in its story. If I see Egg having white walker dreams I'm done. With the exception of Blood Raven, but I don't want the White Walkers as a focus at all.
Tbf, Egg in later life definitely had an idea of what would eventually happen. But he wasn't plagued by dragon dreams until he was much older as king. So yeah, no effing white walkers please?? I just wanna be on the road with the boys, experiencing minor lords and small folk.
Just remember Egg’s older brother Daeron was definitely plagued by dragon dreams. It’s for that reason that Egg was able to takeoff from that inn and follow Dunk to the tournament. The first novella of the three is heavily impacted by Targaryen dragon dreams. As is the third novella, with that dreamer being a Blackfyre. Maester Aemon in the main series tells Sam that all of his brothers were plagued with dragon dreams. And he sort of implied that he was as well. Then there is the tragic end of the Brightfyre Prince Aerion who drank wildfire because he thought it would turn him into a dragon. I suspect that dreams played a role in that as well. Egg’s demise at Summerhall, while trying to hatch dragon eggs probably has a similar dreaming inspiration. Especially when you consider Maester Aemon’s comment about all of his brothers having dragon dreams. My point is that I think that prophecy and dreams are likely to play a significant role in this series, as they had a significant role in lives of many of the key characters.
I can’t wait. I think this is going to be a really good show. No dragons or huge battles will be a big help I think. It’s a simple story focused on a low born guy’s adventures.
