6.7% taller gearing. The stock TU250's gearing is too short for my liking. This brings the revs down (6.7%) at cruising speeds and makes 1st gear (6.7%) more useful. Many owners are going a step further and putting a smaller rear sprocket on the TU as well. Top speed is drag limited, rather than gear limited, and the torque curve of the TU is such that cruising speed isn't noticeably effected by the taller gearing. Being able to make a left turn into traffic without upshifting is a bonus.
Hey CalamityJ, thanks so much for this guide, it helped a lot! I swapped the front sprocket out on my TU250X today, and although the difference is subtle, I’m definitely happier with the gearing now.
Hello!
How did you make the measuring stick with your maximum and minimum settings to avoid calculations? I would love to do this to my tux but I want to make sure the chain is tight enough. Thank you so much for posting such a helpful video!
Tom Ulrich I was browsing www.ADVRider.com on mobile Safari on an iPhone 4.. most likely running iOS 5.x ADVRider used to have a TU250X thread with daily activity, and it is still a good source of information for beginners. The torque settings were simply transposed from the service manual to the forum by a user.
I've got a 520-15T on the Front and 41-520 on the Rear (sprockets of course) I am looking for a little more top end out of the bike. it's screaming around 65mph. my low end power is really good, but once i'm at around 100 km/h (60mph) in 5th gear the bike just struggles...it's an older TU250 so i'm trying to get that top end a lil but more....any help would be greatly appreciated
Hey man, where did you pick up the sprocket from? I wanna do the same thing to my 2015 tu250 but I'm not quite sure where to start (yes i'm new to this kind of thing)
I changed the sprocket of my TU 250 today, your video was very useful to me Thanks for sharing it Greetings from Italy 🙂
Ciao, come ti sei trovato con un dente in piu ?

Did you post the video for the sprocket change? That would be great to see!
Did you ever post the acceleration comparison?

Nicely done! Clear & concise!
Thank you!
Hey CalamityJ do you have a video of replacing the sprocket seal?
Thanks! You do a great job explaining things
Hey, Thanks man! This is absolutely fantastic. EXTREEEEMMMLLLYYY helpful
Nice video. I upgarde my front sprocket following the guidance here. Mission successful! Very nice mod.
What's that app or mobile page that you're looking at at ~3:44 with the torque info?

CalamityJ Rides Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad it helped!
I cant find the 15T vs 16T speed comparison video! :-(
there are also 17T sprocks outthere, are they good?
for stock engine , don't go more than one tooth at the front.
I read that you can go + 2t in the front and -1t in the back. Is that not the case?
+Jerimy McCray +2t increase from the front sprocket is equivalent to -6t from rear sprocket. that is a lot for stock engine.

Andrew Rush maybe you need other modifications

I ordered mine through a third party seller on Amazon. It's the JT Sprockets JTF434.16 Many retailers can order stuff from JT.
is going to 17 tooth to high?
Works great! Thanks for the video
Good information and tips. Thanks!
Very nicely done!
Awesome video - very helpful.
That my socket?
Should have just bought a new washer.
Michael Rotch Totally unnecessary. What he did was just fine.
