Good video comparison. But the truth of the matter is if you go back to your video of the Callaway Epic Max, Max LS and Speed drivers I’ve just three years ago those drivers matched and even beat these drivers for distance and dispersion at the same 111 mph clubhead speed. And that’s three years ago. The Epic Max LS actually carried 286 yards and rolled out to 310 yards. And the Epic Speed carried 285 yards and carried out to 307. And you rated them as extremely forgiving and the dispersion chart showed it. So maybe before 2024 these drivers are OK but you can get a driver that goes a few yards further that is three years older by Callaway for a fraction of the price of these new drivers. Proving drivers have gone nowhere. We’re getting ripped off by the big prices by Titleist. No thanks.
We’ve known drivers have been done for quite some time now. It’s ALL marketing at this point. Not the TSR or the GT were even one yard better than my TSi, which was sent to the tour in 2020. Don’t buy the new stuff folks and they’ll stop charging so much for them!
I bought the gt3 a few month ago and it is consistently going 25 yds further than my previous ping driver.took a few games to get used to but even in winter golf it is still a monster.
Rick, I loved the comparison. If you need to send a Darkspeed LS to one of your loyal subscribers, I would love to have it. You have helped me a lot the last few years with my game. I look forward to your next video.
Drivers may become more forgiving over time but face efficiency is limited to a COR of 0.830 max. It isn't talked about enough as manufacturers want to sell new product. If you have a driver from the last 12 years that is fitted correctly for you (shaft, ball spin, launch angle) You will literally gain zero yards on great strikes. Why people see increases is because they are currently using a club that isn't fit correctly for them. Keeping your ball spin around 2100 is a game changer. So if you are spending $800 on a driver make sure to get it fitted and adjusted including the shaft.
It seems that companies are reaching a ceiling and the achievable gains are minimal between all the companies, it's probably wiser for golfers to look at what they can personally achieve and work on their swing, swing speed and swing consistency, that would more than likely give greater gains rather than thinking a new driver each year is going to be the answer.
Great Video, drivers are so different in their marketing approach yet their results are so similar. i dont unfortunately see any reason to change drivers based on performance especially with the high price points however there is never a better feeling than spoiling ourselves with a new driver and standing on the first tee like a proud dad.
I bought a F9 in 2020 after Rick’s review and love it! Don’t see a need to upgrade. I did just purchase a darkspeed 5 wood and it’s amazing too. Would be curious to get Rick’s opinion if 5 years of technology makes much of a difference
Rick, you really need to include the average smash factor numbers. We can't assume the driver is making the ball go further if you're not making ideal contact.
Rick great video, I believe that if you hit the Titleist first your club head speed would’ve been higher than the Cobra’s. I play of +2 and I’ve hit both drivers. When I hit the GT3 my club head speed jumped 3mph from the cobra, and it wasn’t even the Gt4
i’ve hit them both and they both sucked. the two best for ball speed were my triple diamond S head i have, and oddly enough, the 430lst performed miles better than i thought it would
@@GideonFourie-h4h absolutely true. my biggest complaint about the darkspeed was that it went far, but also everywhere. just didn’t stay in the fairway. the gt3 was solid, but just wasn’t as consistent dispersion wise. the ball speed retention was very good though
This may sound like I’m not a knowledgeable golfer but could you do a video in regards to what and how to set/ change the weights and break it down to what and how changing the degree and weights has on your driver? Sorry but thanks
The darkspeed I hit at golf mart goes 10 yards farther than every other driver. My only complaint is top of the driver being the same color and shade of the face makes it hard to line up.
You were really hitting that cobra good, long, and strait. I've always liked titleist clubs and I think it has the cobra beat for distance. That being said I'd say the cobra really worked well for you.
This is by far one of the best drivers ever made and 💯 cobras best driver ever! I’m playing the dark speed LS 8deg with an x stiff 70 gram shaft and absolutely love it! Also playing the 3+ 13 deg 3 wood with the same shaft only 80 grams and also the 5 wood with the same 80 gram shaft! I love these woods so much that it would take a lot for me too switch and I can see myself playing them for years to come. 💪🏼🙂🇺🇸👍🏼⛳️
Rick, curious to know if you put the same shaft in everything you test, or do you go with different shafts in different heads based on the characteristics of the head? If you change it up, how do you determine what to go with, and do you have a go to shaft for each head type?
He uses his "fitted" setup in each club. Different clubheads have different weight and performance characteristics therefore may not always suit the same shaft dynamics
I am gaming the Cobra LTD- LS 9 degree with a House Of Forged Ultra 220 CPM and 3° of torque at the tip. It's a Bomber !!!, Will play it until the head cracks !!
I’m new to golf.. was hitting a Slazenger V300 about 170yrds.. upgraded to the Cobra LTDx LS and now I’m hitting around 220yrds.. they say the LS is for more experienced golfers but it’s changed my game 100%
Yea, the cobra probably fits you better. It isn't necessarily it being newer, being a brand name, or whatever. Rather, the loft, lie, swing weight, etc characteristics of the club works better for you. Don't get caught up in keeping up with the Joneses and getting a new driver every year, as the gains are small, if any.

Hi Rick from down under Any chance you could review the Wilson Driver? I like the way it sits behind the ball but unsure about performance Loved your stuff for many years. Thanks pal
Should be mandatory that all manufacturers have the heads independently tested with an 'Iron Byron' machine so we can go over the numbers. Otherwise there's too many variables to make an informed decision.
Some years ago (6-7?) you were hitting the ball over 320 yards, per your launch monitor. There was a Taylormade M1 for sure, and the other(s) I believe were Callaway and Ping (yes, Ping!). Given your distances now (295-305), do you think it is the clubs or your swing?Would make for some interesting comments. Thanks/MG.
I’m a 5hcp and was fit into the prior gen TSR4. I struggled with high spin and this was the best to bring it down. It’s been my favorite driver I’ve ever had. I don’t find it to be unforgiving unless it’s a super bad swing. Small misses perform fine.
Titleist figured out centered and toe strikes, but you hit it off the heel, ball speed drops and spin goes up 1k. No consistency across the face. Not worth another $150 for sure.
This is a good comparison. But not good for people like me with high spin high launch. I carry it the same distance as you but I spin my ball back on fairways and greens
This is why driver fittings/testing indoors and on simulators is a waste of time. We’ve seen you play that Darkspeed LS on the course multiple times.
