Didn't know Qiu Qiyuan's scores were that high. I think Hezly Rivera has a great shot to make finals and maybe get a medal here. US should be strong on beam, though. The Chinese are usually great on beam as well. Always good athletes.

And it doesn't even have to from a complex move. Just a tiny misplacement of a pinky toe and you're wobbling, regardless what your name is! Didn't you catch the US women's 2nd night, when Suni, Biles, and Chiles all fell? I still remember Jordyn Weiber --- currently Arkansas women gymnastics head coach, back in 2016, or 12 --- she WAS the most accomplished, more surefooted beam specialist (won almost all beam routines on consecutive nationals); everyone was expecting her to win Gold on it, during the Olympics, at the very least. She never even got to do it, from falls in the regular sessions, resulting in her score on it being too low... She looked devastated. Anyway, SKILLS ALONE don't guarantee it; you also have to be darn lucky... by not falling off of it during a very easy, normal routine...

I would put Hezly over Chiles as the third American, her scores at nationals and trials were better and even better than Simone and Suni at Trials (both fails i know but Hezly's scores are really good)
i love jordan but she has not broken 13.7 this year on beam. 14.2-13.8 is not correct for jordan on beam lol. she is not a contender for beam final unless something catastrophic happens with simone and suni in qualification at the olympics
AND more catastrophes happen to other major beam contestants during the qualifications and they won’t qualify for the final. Otherwise she literally has no chance of making the final. Suni and Biles with a fall have more chances than Jordan without any fall.

I think chinas overscored on this list. Qiu and Zhou max out at like a 15.2 internationally and Simone and Suni max out at like 15.0. Flavia could get a 14.8 with the routine of her life, I think Manila could get like a 14.5… that’s abt it tho in terms of high 14s

Worlds/Olympic judging is always more stringent, evidenced last year when Zhang Qingying was given very high scores for her beam routine DOMESTICALLY but never received even close to it at Worlds. The Chinese routines are heavily dependent on connections and these are judged and will be judged way harsher at Worlds/Olympic levels than any other level.
@@sollte1239 Zhou got a 14.8 at Antwerp with like basically a perfect routine, except 1 missed connection and a small wobble, so yeah her and Qiu probably max out at like 15.2, I think 15.4/15.5 is a little unrealistic. The only gymnasts they consistently give 8.4/8.5 E scores to on beam are Flavia and Manila
@@aliciamcdonald7105Chinese judges don’t overscore the routines actually. It’s not like Russian or even US nationals where there is indeed overscoring. If the girls hit as they did in their national competition, they will get the same execution scores in the Olympics as well.
